fiuiicuiuii, nuiui ^oiuijiua Annual Masonic Ladies Night Dinner Is Held At Littleton Littleton?The annual Mason ic Ladles Night Fellowship din ner was held Friday night In the Littleton Community Building with 95 persons at tending. The affair is sponsored by the Royal Hart Masonic Lodge No. 497 of Littleton. The Rev. A. W. Winstead led in an invocatlonal prayer. A bountiful meal was serv ed under the Supervision of Mrs. C. M. Hale, Sr. con sisting of baked ham and tifr key, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, dres sing and gravy, hot rolls, cof fee, and cocoanut cake squares. Table decorations of mums, red berries, greenery and white burning tapers were arranged by Mrs. C. E. Rock and Mrs. S. B. Bobbitt. Claude Wilson, Worshipful Master of the lodge, presided and welcomed all those pre sent. The Rev. Coiie Rock led in the recognition of guests in cluding the local Masons and their wives. Others recognized were Miss Mary Shearin, Worthy Matron, Order of the Easter Star of Littleton, and other officers and members of the Eastern Star Chapter; widows of Masons; and visiting ministers and their wives, the Rev. and Mrs. M. T. Self and the Rev. and Mrs. A. W. Win stead of Littleton, and the. Rev. and Mrs. Wayne Wlngfleld of Inez. Mr. Rock also recog nized, on behalf of the lodge, the following Masons for their ; length of membership in the j local lodge: Andrew May, 48 1 years; Lee Riggan, 45 years; j Sol B. Bobbitt, 44 years; V. | F. Harrison, 44 years; and T. | N. Harrison has been a mem | ber 54 years but was not pre i sent for the dinner meeting. Group singing, led by Ray Cole and Mrs. W. Hayes Hur I die, was enjoyed by the group following. | Tyree Gallihan introduced the ; three special guests, Misses i Newassa and Phenie Taylor and j The Rev. John Duval. The Tay lor sisters are graduates of Ox | ford Orphanage and have been | sponsored by the local Masons, j The Rev. John Duval is Cha plain of the Oxford Orphanage. He spoke to the group and out lined the Children's Orphanage program under four headings: work, play, study, worship. Andrew J. May, chairman of the Oxford Orphanage Commit tee for the local lodge, remind ed everyone of the work and need for the Children's program. He pointed out that the orphanage is open to all needy children and that only 6% of the 320 children now being cared for are sons1 or daughters of Masons. Con tributions are solicited from every Mason and welcomed from any individual or business for the work of the Children's Home. A friendship circle with all | present joining hands and sing- i ing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" closed the Ma sonic Ladies Night Fellowship Dinner. Wednesday, Dec. 2: Agents will have a staff conference at 2:00 p. m. with Mr. F. M. Stallings, Rural Civil Defense Specialist. Renew your subscription. Weber MacFarland Hosts Garden Club Members i the delight of his guests. He was joined by his entire staff who assisted him in the two hour workshop. The Garden Club members were given a "Sneak preview" of several new products on the 1964 |Christmas market which had (just arrived from Florida. Following the Workshop, Mr. MacFarland and his assistants served Cokes and cookies, and the group browsed through his beautifully styled shop and did a bit of "Christmas Shopping" for home decorating. About forty Garden Club members from Raleigh attended and' Mrs. E. M. Brown, Mrs. M. H. Cooper, Mrs. S. H. Brown and Mrs. A. M. Alston of the Town 'N Country Garden Club of Warrenton attended. Mrs. E. M. Brown, President of the State Federation of Garden Clubs, ex pressed thanks for the many ideas she would be able to pass on to clubs throughout the state to be included to their Christ mas Decorations Workshops and Contests. Weber MacFarland, national ly known Flower Arranger, who is often seen in this area on WTVD - Peggy Mann's televi sion program, was host to a group of Garden Club mem bers at a Christmas Decorat ion Workshop at his Florist Shop in Cary on Wednesday night of last week.
