Mrs. Clarke returned home with her husband alter an extended visit. Miss Mae Weaver spent last weekend with her sister, Mrs. R, V. Fleming, Sr., of Hen derson. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Mar tin, Sr., Mrs. A. W. Paschall, Mrs. V. T. Paschall and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lynch attended the funeral of Ralph Hicks at Townsville Saturday. Mrs. Frances Brown and Miss Marie Taylor of Raleigh visited Mrs. C. P. Rooker re cently. Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Taylor and Mrs. S. F. Vick attended the homecoming at the Baptist Church in Boykins, Va., last Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. Ben Everette and daughter and grandchildren joined them in Boykins. Mr. and Mrs. T. V. Stall ings spent their vacation in Florida last week. The Rev. W. C. Baughman, | Jr., is the revival preacher at Trinity Baptist Church in Durham this week. Mr. Julius Brauer of Wash ington, N. C., spent several days last week in New York and returned by way of Nor lina where he spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and I Mrs. P. E. Brauer. Mrs. Joe Scellato and little Miss Kelly Sawyer of Nor folk, Va., spent Tuesday with Mrs. Ola Overby. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lamb and sons of Burlington and Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Robin son and family of Raleigh spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. George Robinson in celebration of Mr. Robinson's birthday. In Hospital John L. Vaughan is a pa tient in the Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Va. Sharon K. Vaughan is, a patient at Maria Par ham Hos pital in Henderson recover ing from major surgery. Mrs. E. H. Weston visit ed relatives in Norfolk, Va., this week. Friday Night Concert Was Definite Success The concert given in the Norlina gym last Friday even ing by Miss Irene Weldon and Fletcher Wolfe was declared to have been an overwhelming success by the sponsoringor ganlzations, the three wo men's clubs of Norlina. Mrs. Jeanette Robinson, the accompanist from Atlanta, Ga., added much to the pro gram, one of the sponsors commented yesterday. She added that Miss Weldon and Mr. Wolfe charmed their audience with selections from Le Nozzie di Figaro, by Mo zart, and opera by Mendel, Debussy, Brahms and Leon cavallo. Approximately -100 guests attended from Norlina, War renton, Henderson, Macon, Raleigh. Chapel Hill and South Hill, Va. Following the concert a re ception was held in the gvm torium to meet the perform ers and their parents, Mm. A. S. Wyckoff, president of the Literature and Music Club, Mrs. George Stultz, Jr., pres ident of the Norlina Woman's Club and Mrs. Owen Robert son, Jr., president of the Jun ior Woman's club, and Mayor and Mrs. Graham Grissom of Norlina also received the guests. The three women's clubs had sponsored the concert to pay tribute to Miss Weldon and Mr. Wolfe, natives of Norlina, and in order that the people of Warren County would have an opportunity to hear these two fine artists perform. Zion Club Meets With Mrs. Arnold Mrs. J. w. Arnold was host ess to the Zion Home Demon stration Club at her home on Tuesday afternoon with 14 in attendance; M rs. -J. D.-Holtz man, president, presided. Mrs. Arnold gave the de votion on "Love." Mrs. C. P. Rooker served as secretary in the absence of Mrs. E. E. Hecht. The club welcomed Mrs. C. F. HolUman, Sr., as a new member. Miss Emily Ballinger, home economics agent, gave the demonstration on "Space Standards (or Household Ac tivities." She gave many tips concerning size and ar rangements for storage space in new and rentodeled homes. Others present were- Mes dames Zeame Rose, Pete Rose, W. M. White, J. F. White, George Robinson, W, P. Martin, Sr., E. X.. Meador, Hell Williams andC. L. Nance. During the social hour Mrs. Arnold served sandwiches, pickles, cake and soft drinks. Zion Fellowship Meets At Church 1 no /ion young Adult Fel lowship met last Wednesday night in the church sanctuary with 12 members present. Mrs. Jake Norwood, pre sided. Mrs. Hal Paschall led the devotional. Mrs. Irving Hayes, program chairman for May, introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Boyd Davis of the Warren County llelath Department, Mrs. Davis t.ilked on "Health" and health conditions in Warren County. Mrs. Norwood concluded the meeting with prayer. Mr. and Mrs. James White invited the group to the edu cational building where they were served refreshments. Draffin To Head Student Council Charles Draffin was elected president of the Student Coun cil of the Norlina High School for 1966-67 at the annual elec tions held at a meeting on last Friday in the music room of the school. Other officers chosen, fol lowing campaign speeches, were Sterling " Quick, vtce president; Sandra Hicks, sec retary; Michael Macon, trea surer; George Perkinson, parliamentarian; Jerri Yan cey, reporter; and Marty Rooker, historian. Baptist Circles To Hold May Meetings The Woman's Missionary Society Circles of the Norlina Baptist Church will meet for the month of May as follows: The Lola-Sue Circle will meet Monday at 3 p. m. at the home of Mrs. T. W. Wolfe. The Annie Armstrong Cir cle will meet Monday at 8 p m. at the home of Mrs. Bobby Harris. The Grace McBride Circle will meet Monday at 8 p. m. at the home of Mrs. W. H. Mulchi, Jr. The Margaret Mitchell Cir cle will meet Tuesday at 10 a. m. at the home of Mrs. H. F. Kelly. Mrs. White Hostess To Her Bridge Club Mrs. E. Given In marriage by her father, the bride wore a por trait gown of French silk or ganza. The scalloped neck line and elbow length sleeves were of alenconlace. Thewat teau train of matching alen con lace was attached to the gown by an organza bow. Her tiered veil of imported silk illusion was attached to a cabbage rose of peau de soie with lace appliques and seed pearls. She carried a cascade of white orchids and valley lilies. Mrs. Glenn Weldon of Nor lina, organist, rendered tra ditional wedding music and Mrs. Walter Newman of Nor lina sang "Because," "At Dawning" and "The Wedding Prayer." Miss Brenda ltiggaiiwasthe bride's niaid-of-honor. Her dress was of pastel blue bro cade taffeta with an empire waistline, short sleeves, round neckline antl knee length A-line skirt. On her head she wore a matching bow attach ed to tulle. She carried a cascade of mixed spring flow ers. Bridesmaids were Miss Margaret l'erkinson and Miss Claudie Ivey of Rocky Mount, sister of the bride-groom. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Peggy Rodwell of Warrenton, cousin of Rit bride.?Til em dresses were identical to that of the maid-ot-honor being in pastel shades of pink, yellow and green. They each carried colonial bouquets of mixed spring flowers. Honorary bridesmaids were the Misses Sharon Land and Donna Bryan of Rocky Mount, Linda Suggs of Llizabeihtown, Ann Mitchell and Sandra liolo man of Alioskie, Dot Pegram of Middleburg, Karney Faulk of Norlina and Barbara Hawks. They each carried a single long stemmed carnation. Johnny Johnson of Char- # lotte, cousin of the groom, was best man and ushers were John Freddie Perklnson, brother of the bride, Charles White of Norllna, Jimmy Rod well of Warrenton, cousin of 1 the bride, and Charles Hayes of Norlina. The bride's mother wore a dress of Ice blue nylon jersey with cap sleeves and accordian pleated skirt. Her hat was of matching jersey and acces sories were dyed to match. She wore a purple orchid. The bridegroom's mother wore a sheath dress of celery green imported silk wool with short sleeves and round neck line. Her tulle hat and othdjcj accessories were dyed ^ match.
