DHIA The annual Ladies' Night Supper Meeting of the Golden Belt Dairy Herd Improvement Association, serving Vance and Warren Counties, was re cently held at the Holiday Inn, Henderson. In addition to a most enjoyable occasion, the 1967 officers and directors were elected and 1966 awards announced. Shown in the picture are the 1967 officers (1. to r.) W. F. Fred Newton - awarded plaque for having entire herd with average milk production per cow of 14,414 lbs., also, high cow in milk producing 20,750 lbs. milk, also, high herd average of 539 lbs. butterfat per cow. Arnold Frank -awarded certificate, pen and pencil set for 5 years continuous top flight service as tester for the Association. Ernest Brauer - awarded plaque for having the most improved herd average in milk production of 1878 lbs. over 1965. E. L. Watkins - a warded plaque !?? highest cow in butterfat producing 797 pounds. You should have seen J. O. Knight smiling, knowing that his artificial breeding had great beneficial influence In these high production records. All milk and butterfat pro duction records were made during a continuous 305 day period. This association is composed of outstanding dairymen in Vance and Warren counties. Dairymen pay the cost of this testing, Pine State Creamery pays for plaques awarded and the Agricultural Extension Service serves as advisors. This is a real Americanism organization il lustrating one of the best examples in agriculture. Mr. Calvin Seaman returned home Sunday after spending several weeks with Mrs. Carol Lord and family in St. Au gustine, Fla., and visiting other relatives while there. Pas chall, Sr., on Monday. Pvt. Henry Holtzman is stationed at Fort Bragg. A member of the National Guard, he is now serving six months of active duty with the U. S. Army . He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Holtzman of Ridgeway. Mrs. L. M. Paschall, Sr., and Mrs. L. M. Paschall, Jr., and children, Mrs. Luke Gup ton and children and Mrs. C. P. Holtzman visited Mrs. A. E. Paschall at the home of Mrs. James Stegall near War renton Sunday afternoon. Mr. Andrew Seaman of Ral eigh visited Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Holtzman and Mrs. Albert Bender Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hecht and Michael of Cary were din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Daeke Saturday. They spent the day with Mrs. Carl Hecht and visited Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Holtzman in the even ing. VPS Meets Mr. and Mrs. Leonard G. Bender were host and hostess to the Young People's Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at their home on Friday night. Ben Some of the members of the Drewry 4-H Club, on a recent arrow hunt at Kerr Lake, hold up their findings while others listen as Ellis Fleming tells them about the Indian arrowheads. 4-H Members Go On Arrow Hunt Members of the Drewry Community 4-H Club recently went arrowhead hunting on the shores of Kerr Lake, con ducted by Ellis Fleming and William Ellington. Many interesting and odd dis coveries were made. Some found whole arrowheads that had been used by the Indians hundreds of years ago. The purpose of the hunt, Darlene Paschali, reporter, said was to set the mood for the February meeting at the Hecht Museum In Norlina, which was held on Monday. Following the business ses sion, the members observed many Interesting Indian relics In the museum and heard Theo Hecht and Phil Lewis tell something of the history be hind the Indian's way of life. Kay, Jan and Bill Elling ton served iced drtfiks and cookies to 15 members, three leaders and seven visitors. Kay Ellington presided over the meeting. Dawn Cur tis led the Pledge of Alle giance, Cran Wilson the 4-H Pledge; and Bill Ellington and Paula Fleming gave the devo tion. MISS CELIA REGINA HARRIS Plans June Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Har ris of Route 3, Warrenton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Cella Regina, to Mr. Mac Arthur Mills, son of Mr. and Mrs. Drew Bell Mills of Hollister. Miss Harris is a senior der read the scripture. The secretary, Mrs. J. G. Kiliari, gave a report on the two new clocks recently purchased for the church. The group decided to have their anniversary supper at their next regular meeting to be held March 3 at the Sea Palace in Henderson at 7 p. m. Mrs. John G. Killan led the 19 present in playing games. Mrs. Bender served punch, potato chips, dip, corn crisp and cookies. Entertain Club Mr. and Mrs. Leonard G. at John Graham High School at Warrenton. Mr. Mills was graduated from Haliwa High School, Hollister, in 1965. The wedding will take place on June 17 at Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Route 3, Warrenton. Bender entertained the Ridge way Community Club at their home on Tuesday night. Leon ard M. Bender, president, presided over the business session. The members decided to have a bake sale on Satur day, Feb. 25, and a commit tee was appointed to work on this project. Mrs. Bender served delici ous refreshments to the 25 members present. Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers Holtzman and sons, Cary, Steve and Randy, Mr. and Mrs. Lenten Services Te Be Held At St. Paul's Midweek Lenten services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Ridge way, which began on Wednesday night, will be con ducted each Wednesday night at 7:30 throughout the Lenten season, the pastor, the Rev. "In Sunlit Streets." Good Friday services will be held at 7:30 p. m. on March 24. Sunday School for all ages will be held each Sunday morn ing at 10 o'clock, and the morning worship services will be held at 11 o'clock each Sunday morning. MYF MEETING The Warco Subdistrict MYF will hold its February meet ing Sunday evening at 5:30 at the Zion Methodist Church, Norlina. All MYF members are urged to attend this meet ing, at which vocational talks will be given by several War ren County citizens.
