Club Women Attend Rocky Mount Meet Six members of the recent ly organized Warrenton Jun ior Woman's Club gave a re port on the club's first year program at a Junior Day Pro gram at Rocky Mount on March 8. Junior clubs of four dis tricts, including the 14th Dis trict of Federated Women's Clubs, of which Warrenton is a part, were represented. New Singing Group Gives Program At Legion-Aux. Neet Warren County's newest singing group, "The Wives," entertained a large number of American Legion members of Llmer Post No. 25, and Its Auxiliary and guests on Thursday evening of last week. The annual dinner meeting, held at the Afton-Elberon Clubhouse, was the occasion of the Legion's birthday. "The Wives," composed of Mrs. Norman Bullock, Mrs. Edward Hunter, and Mrs. Jimmy Roberts, with their director, agent and accom panist, Mrs. Leonard Daniel, presented the program, which was preceeded by a delicious ham dinner. Reports of the activities of the year of the Auxiliary and of the Legion were read by Mrs. A. A. Wood and Mrs. Mel", In Shear In adjutant. Mrs. Roger Llmer, presi dent of the Auxiliary, presid ed and welcomed the Legion naires and guests. M. C. Clary, commander ofPostNo. 25, expressed the appreciation of the Legion. Little Garden Club Meets At Middleburg The Little Garden Club met Tuesday afternoon at the hom e of Mrs. C. W. Currln in Mid dleburg with Mrs. Clinton Capps as co-hostess. Mrs. R. B. Butler, program chairman, presented Frank Reams, Warren County Ex tension Chairman, who showed a film on the Elizabethan Gardens at Manteo. Mrs. C. F. Burrows, presi dent, presided over the busi ness session. It was announc ed that a contribution will be made to the Daniel Boone Gar dens at Boone. Four new mem bers were accepted into the club.-'5' Delicious refreshments were served the 18 members from a beautifully appointed table in the dining room. Philatheas Meet At Home Of Mrs. Bugg The V. L. Pendleton Baptist Phllalhea Class met on Tues day night in the home of Mrs. A. S. Bugg with Mrs. J. T. Vaughan as co-hostess. A memorial service was held for Mrs. P. R. Davis, recently deceased member. Following routine business a program on "Easter" was given by Mrs. R. D. Chewn ing. Delicious cookies and punch were served by the hostesses. Miss Riggan To Wed D. W. King Sunday The wedding of Miss Lois Faye Riggan, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Edward Earl Riggar of Macon to Mr. Dalton Wayne King, son of Mr. and Mrs, James Horton King of Route 1, Henderson will be solemnized at the Macon Baptist Church at four o'clock Sunday March 19. Burwell Is visiting Mrs. George Allen In New York. Mrs. J. d. Finch of Oxford was a guest of her mother, Mrs. W. B. Crlnkley, on Wed nesday. Massey Speaker At Ruritan Meeting Dr. S. H. Massey, Jr., of Warrenton, vice-chairman of the Warren County Board of Education, was the guest speaker at a meeting of the Norllna Ruritan Club on Tues day night. Dr. Massey spoke on the progress of the Warren Coun ty school system. He said that attendance had improved so much in the last few years that more teachers were added to the system. Financing the schools, he said, is a big bud get item, with nearly $2,000, 000 spent on the schools which employ about 400 persons. A consolidated high school is a long range objective of the schools, he said. J. O. Knight, president, pre Pullen Funeral Is Held On Thursday Funeral services lor Mrs. Sally Perry Pullen, 67, of Rocky Mount, who died Tues day, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fishing Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Wllllard Renn. Burial was In the Pullen family cemetery. She was the mother of Mil ton Pulley of Norllna. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Umphlett of Corapeake; four sons, Leroy Pullen of Aventon, El more Pullen of Whltakers, Francis Pullen of Nash sided over the meeting. He urged the members to attend the N. C. Rurltan Conference at Lake Waccamaw on April 1. The club welcomed Leon Knight and Rex Gordon as new members.
