Spears, Jr. W ed In a double-ring ceremony at the Warren Plains Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, September 3, at four o'clock, Miss Patricia Ann Rivers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lawrence Rivers of Route 1, Warrenton, became the bride of Cecil Julius Spears, Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. Spears of Enfield. The Rev. Delbert Burnett, pas tor bride, officiated. The church was decorated in greenery and candles and floor baskets of white flowers. A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. Glenn Weldon, organist, and Mrs. Robert Oaies of Henderson, soloist, who sang "O Perfect Love," "All For You," and the "Wedding Prayer." H, Felts of Afton, had tiny buttons down the back and matching lace applique on*^'' train. She carried a white Bible, topped with an orchid and showered with stephanotis and ribbons. Miss Jo Ann Long of Rox boro was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Betsy Copley, Mrs. Robert Stegall, Mrs. Benson Ay cock, all of Raleigh, and Mrs. Ben Howard of Greenville. Misses Angela Holland and Sandra Jones of Raleigh were honorary bridesmaids. They wore floor-length gowns of Antique bonded gold crepe with match ing pillbox hats and short veils of matching tulle and held arm bouquets of varied green mums tied with green ribbons. Ronald Rivers and Paul Har wood were train bearers. Miss Darlene Fleming was flower girl and Master Hank Davis ring bearer. The grooms father, Dr. Cecil Julius Spears of Enfield _ was best man. Ushers were_ Larry Spears of Enfield, brother of the groom, Jimmy Rivers of Warren ton, brother of the bride, Kent Dickens of Wilson and Fletcher Hayes of Enfield. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Rivers chose a mint green dress with matching ac cessories, and Mrs. Spears wore an aqua bonded crepe with matching accessories. Each wore white cymbldium orchids. The bride is a graduate of Chowan College, Murfrees boro and the groom will grad uate In January from Camp bell College, Bules Creek. For travel the bride chang ed to a. yellow bonded crepe dress with matching acces sories and wore the orchid taken from her Bible. After a wedding trip to Western North Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Spears will live in Raltigh where Mrs. Spears holds a position with Wachovia Bank and Trust Company. Out-of-town guests were from Raleigh, Durham, Char lotte, Enfield, Greenville, Mt. GilPad, Wilson, Elizabeth City, Greenville, S. C., and Dublin, Ga. Reception Following the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. James Rivers and Dr. and Mrs. Cecil J. Spears entertained at a reception in the social hall of the church. The table bore a lace cloth and lighted candelabra with white mums as a centerpiece. Mrs. Harold Kimball, who was mistress of ceremonies at the wedding, registered guests. Punch was poured by Mrs. Carlton Howell of Enfield and Mrs. Henry Walden of Dublin, Ga. Mrs. Luther Kimball of Man son served wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Fate King of Warren Plains presented guests to the receiving line composed of the wedding party and parents of the bride and groom. Following the reception, Mrs. Delbert Burnett and Mrs. Kenneth Copley of Warren Plains and Mrs. Brooks Har wood of Mt. Gllead received the out-of-town guests at the Rivers home where the gifts were on display. Before the ceremony on Sunday, the bride's parents gave a dinner for the wedding party and out-of-town guests. Cake-Cutting Following tfc? rehearsal in ^hq Warren "Plains Baptist Church on Saturday night, a cake-cutting was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Price Harrison In Enfield with more than 100 persons attending. The entire lower floor of the home bore arrangements of summer flowers. In the din ing room Mrs. James Rivers poured punch and Mrs. Cecil J. Spears served wedding cake. The table bore a cut work cloth and an arrangement of mixed bridal flowers and ( lighted tapers. Clusters of wedding bells were tied to each end of the cloth. The guests were Invited Into the back yard where lighted torches directed guests to the coffee table where other dainties were served. On Saturday morning, Miss Rivers was honored at a Coke Party by Mrs. Ben Howard of Greenville In the home of Mrs. , J. S. Andrews at Afton. At this time Miss Rivers pre- - sented gifts to her attendants. Comdr. James C. Rlttenhouse, Chaplain Corps., USN, officiated. Given In marriage by her father, the bride wore an off white silk wool dress and jack et with three-quarter length sleeves. Her short veil of silk illusion was attached to a headpiece of velvet. She car ried a white prayer book cov ered with lace, satin stream ers with stephanotis attached, and a white orchid. Mrs. Edwin James Williams of -Liverpool, N. .Y., her only attendant, acted as matron of honor. She was attired In a dress of yellow silk with yellow accessories and car ried a bouquet of yellow dais ies. Mr. Amundson was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Thomas F. Burchill, ni, of Forest Hills, N. Y., and Ro bert Fleischauter of Water town, Mass. The mother of the bride chose for her daughter's wed ding a blue silk crepe dress with blue accessories. The mother of the groom wore pink with pink accessories. Both mothers wore white orchids. Immediately after the cere mony, a reception was given at the Breezy Point Officers Club by the bride's parjnts. For her wedding trip the bride chose a moss green knit dress with matching acces sories and the orchid lifted from her prayerbook. Follow ing their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Long Beach, California. Funeral services for Hor ace Hall Chalmers, 87, of Richmond, Va., were held at Forest Lawn Cemetery In Richmond, Va., on Tuesday. Mr. Chalmers, the brother of Mrs. V. F. Ward of War renton, died at a Richmond, Va., hospital Sunday. A native of Halifax County, Va., he was born on Oct. 3, 1880, the son of the late Joseph W. and Julia H. Chalmers. He was educated at William and Mary College in Virginia, Yale and Johns Hopkins. For many years he was employed at the Smithsonian Institute in Wash ington, D. C. As a young man he taught at Palmer Springs, Va. He had been a resident of Richmond for several years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Watts Chalmers; two sisters, Mrs. H. E. Cole man of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. V. F. WardofWarrenton and several nieces and nephews. Morgan Promoted To Mill Manager The husband of a former Warrenton girl has been nam ed manager of a mill in South Carolina. J. Haywood Morgan, Jr., of Fort Mill, S. C., former ly of Oxford, was this week named manager of the Caro lina Carpet Mills in York, S. C. The Carolina Carpri Mills is owned by Spring Mills, Inc., of Fort Mill. Morgan, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Joined Springs in 1963 as an STGA trainee. He is married to the former Miss Betsy Read, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Read, form erly of Warrenton and Ox ford and now of Reldsvllle. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan have two daughters, Claudia and Leigh.
