Mr. Herman Vaughan Is a patient in Maria Parham Hos pital In Henderson. Mrs. J. F. Bobbitt visited relatives in Loulsburg on Sun day afternoon. She left for St. Petersburg, Fla., Wednesday to spend the hblidays with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Waymouth A. Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Martin, Sr. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Her man Hayes in Warrenton on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Douglas Draffln is a patient at N. C. Memorial Hos pital in Chapel mil. Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Pate of Institute and Mrs. Mary Gurley of Kinston were week end guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Bruce Pate. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Pate and family of Kinston joined the group for a visit on Sunday. Circles Hold Joint Meeting And Party Mrs. Macon Wemyss en tertained the Annie Arm strong and the Olga Hood WMS Circles In a Joint meeting on Monday night at her home for their December meeting and Christmas party. Hecht of' Ridgeway were honored at a reception on Sunday after noon at the Parish Hall of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in observance of their golden wedding anniversary by their sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hecht, Jr., of Lakeland, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hecht of Huntsville, Ala., and Mr. and Mrs. Erich Hecht of Ridgeway. Mrs. Hilmar Quarberg of Norfolk, Va., registered the guests. Mrs. William Kamp smidt of Miami, Fla., poured punch, Mrs. Richard Holtzman and Mrs. Gene Woodruff program on "Self Experience of What A True Story of Christmas Should Mean." She also read a poem of Three Precious gifts, a briefing on "Religious Life in Nigeria" was given by Mrs. Ann Mulchl and Mrs. Ann Pullen. Gifts were exchanged from under a decorated Christmas tree. Guests were invited into the dining room where Christmas punch and delicious hor 'deuvres were served. CLUB TO MEET The Wlse-Paschall Rurltan Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 7 o'clock at the Wise school building. Mrs. Lewis Hostess To Church Society Mrs. W. Carson Lewis was hostess to members of the Jerusalem Woman'sSocietyof Christian Service at the Zion Jerusalem Parsonage in Nor llna on Wednesday afternoon. The home was gay with lovely Christmas decorations. Mrs. Mag King, vice presi dent, presided. Mrs. Van Coleman gave a Christmas meditation as her devotional message. An Interesting Christmas program was given by Mrs. Lewis. During the social hour, the hostess served fruit jello, nutbread and punch to the eight members present. Drewry Bridge Club Has Christmas Party Members of the Drewry Bridge Club met Tuesday night, Dec. 12, at the Holiday Inn in Henderson for dinner, bridge and a Christmas party with the exchange of gifts. Approximately 250 guests attended from Burlington, Wllliamston, Charlotte, War renton, Macon, Raleigh, Hen derson, Middleburg, Hope well, Va., Richmond, Va., Norfolk, Va., Lakeland, Fla., and Miami, Fla., and Hunts ville, Ala. Mrs. Churchill B. Curtis, jr., was hostess for the occasion. Dinner favors designated the seating of the guests. Two tables were set up for the playing of bridge. High score prize was presented to Mrs. Joe D. Mabry; the consolation prize went to Mrs. L. M. Bullock, and the bingo prize to Mrs. John Mayfield. Nuts, Christmas candy and coffee were served during play. Bridge players were Mes dames Ellis Fleming, Roger K. Fleming, L. M. Bullock, Joe D. Mabry, Edmund W. White and John W. Mayfield and Miss Anne Floyd. DOING ALRIGHT The young bride was show ing a visitor around the new apartment, proudly pointing out all the new furnishings. Citation Manson, North Carolina, and Us postal employees have been selected to re ceive the Postmaster Gen eral's "Citation of Merit" for outstanding cooperation in President Johnson's Natural Beauty Program, Congress man Fountain announced Tuesday. Congressman Fountain said he was advised by Post master General Lawrence F. O'Brien that the citation is awarded only to those com munities whose postal facili ties have received superior ratings in rigid inspections by regional postal officials. The evaluation takes Into consideration such factors as unusually attractive grounds and a concerted effort to make the surroundings of the post office as visually Interesting as possible. Congressman Fountain commended the postal employees for their superior accomplishments In the beautlflcatlon effort. "Mr. O'Brien has advised me," Mr. Fountain said, "that Manson will be cited for maintaining Its postal fa cility In such a superior manner that it provides a clean, neat and pleasant place in which the public may conduct its postal business." Congressman Fountain commended Postmaster Ellis E. Fleming, his postal em ployees, and the citizens of Manson for their contributions toward a cleaner, neater com munity. Discharge Pro hibited; Exceptions. It shall be unlawful and Is hereby pro hibited for any person to shoot or discharge within the corporate limits of Norllna any gun or pistol, air rifle, spring gun or pistol, com pressed air rifle or pistol, or other similar device which impels with force a shot or pellet of any kind; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to the follow ing: (a) Law enforcement of ficers while engaged in the lawful discharge of their dut ies; (b) Any person while ex ercising a legal right to de fend his Derson or nrnnartv (e) Any pwaon while enga* od in tli* slaughtering at hoc I or other livestock. Section 2. Confiscation Au thorized. The Chief of Police or any police officer is s hereby authorized to seize \ and bold, subject to court order, any gun or other de vice discharged in violation of this ordinance. Section 3. Penalty. Any vio lation of this ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable upon conviction by a fine not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00) or by Impri sonment not exceeding thirty (30) days. Section 4. Conflicting Or dinances Repealed. All or dinances or parts of ordin ances In conflict with the pro visions of this ordinance are hereby .epealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. Your friend, JUDY LANE WILLIAMSON Stolen Tractor Is Found In Alabama HENDERSON - A tractor stolen last week from the quarters of the W&E Tractor Company on U. S. 1 highway a mile north of the corpor ate limits has been located In Dothan, Alabama, Sheriff L. B. Falkner said today he had been informed by the FBI. The tractor, valued at sev eral thousand dollars, was loaded on another vehicle and removed from the company premises. The sheriff said he did not have Information as to return of the equipment here, but that, he was informed it was offered for sale in Dothan by a dealer.
