FASHIONS
Each season fashions always
seem to be a popular topic of
conversation and the present
season is no exception. Clothes
for spring, 1968, show design
ers assembling parts, pattern
and colors for the great new
"put-together" look.
Silhouette, color, and acces
sories all interplay to create
today's fashion mood. There is
something suitable for every
figure, every age, every per
sonality. It's a time for indi
vidual expression.
The Prettygirl look seems to
sum up what is in store for
spring/summer, 1968.

much closer-to-the-body.
The Romantic Touch?done
with fluted cuffs and hemlines.
The Romantic Fabric?done
with delicate prints right out of
a Victorian picture book, lots
of flowers, frills and lace.
This is Just a way of say
ing that the fashions will be
more feminine this spring.
SILHOUETTE: Silhouettes
are gently shaped close to the

ment Is fitted at the bodice and
flared at the hemline. The LOOK
OF THE 30'S will be very
prevalent inthesprlngfashlon?
the look of softness and femi
ninity. With It is a comeback
for the waist often accepted
with loose belts. Dresses will
be shapelier, often fitted and
narrow at the shoulders flow
ing into softer looking skirts
that swing because they are
pleated, gathered or sllghtlv
flared.
BLOUSES: There will be a big
comeback of the BLOUSE OR
SHIRT, fitted and feminine.
Many will have high bands of
lace at the throat; fitting close
under the chin. Lace, ruffles,
embroidery and jabots may be
found on the blouses. All this
has called for a return of the
stick pins, bar pins, and anti
que broaches.
SUITS: Suits for spring will
have a softened effect, coor
dinated with blouses or vests.
These suits show a new kind
of relaxed femininity with the
dirndl skirt, the pleated or
slightly flared skirt. The
jackets may be long or short.
COLLAR: The Cadet collar
is the newest type of collar on
Jackets. You will also see the
Buster Brown collar as a fash
ion item.
VEST SUIT: Vest, shirt and
skirt are making a grand en
trance this spring in the form
of the VEST SUIT. This is an
ideal way to tie the blouse and
skirt together into the COOL
CHIC look (pulled together look)
CAPE: The cape, capesuit,
and gathered cape will be fash
ion news. In some, there will
be flare over flare in the little
capes over miniskirts.
SHIRT SHIFTS: Shirt shifts
and skimmers continue to be a
favorite of girls with other
than perfect figures. These are
great for casual or dress-up
occasions. A bright scarf at
the neckline adds interest to this
near-classic style.
HEMLINES: The skirts will
continue to be short for spring.
Casual skirts are worn three
Inches above the knee only If
the legs are slim. These are
best left for the younger set.
The "midi" length (mid-calf)
will reappear mainly in evening
or at-home clothes. Some de
signers show them 10 to 12
Inches from the floor or about
5 inches below the knee. Hem
lines on women's daytime cloth
es will remain above the knee
for a while longer. It is pre
dicted that by fall, they will
drop a little. Don't panic. The
drop will not be enough to create
havoc with the clothes in your
current wardrobe.
