Mrs. Earl Stegall gave an Interesting de votion on "Sincerity." Mrs. Henry Dortch, Home Life Chairman, presented Miss Emily Balllnger, who gave a program on "Creating concern For Others." ?, )It was reported that the Fash ion Show "Younger Than Springtime" was a great suc cess and the president thanked gach one who helped with it. It was announced that the next meeting would be held In the home of Mrs. Harold Stegall in the form of a covered dish dinner and also at the meeting an installation of officers would -b$ held. This meeting will be on May 9 one week earlier than usual because the N. C. Fed eration of Women's Club Con vention will be held that week. The club reviewed six appli cants from the senior class of Norllna School which are under consideration for the club's $100.00 Scholarship to be given during graduation. A letter was read from Principal Rex Gordon of Norllna High School in which he listed supplies needed by the school. This was reviewed by the club. It was decided to give $150.00 for this purpose. The Public Relations Com mittee urged each club member Mrs. B. C. Thompson Is Honored At Tea Mrs. W. G. Coleman of War renton, Mrs. W. L. London of Pittsboro and Mrs. Georee Stutts of Mount GUead hpnored their mother, Mrs. - B. C. Thompson, at a birtfiday tea last Sunday afternoon, April 21, from 3 to 5 o'clock at the Norllna Clubhouse, which was beautifully decorated with pot ted plants and cut flower ar rangements. Upon arrival the honoree was presented a white rose cor sage. Mrs. Roy Perkinson greeted the guests and Introduced them to the honoree and her sister, Mrs. D. T. Roberts, of Hills bo ro. The refreshment table was centered with a lovely mixed floral arrangement. On one end of the table was a beautifully decorated birthday cake, baked by Mrs. E. M. Robinson. The other end of the table bore a crystal punch bowl. Punch was poured by Mrs. JuliaStokes and Mrs. Robinson. Decorated cake squares, cheese straws, nuts and mints were also served to around 200 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Duke of Fredericksburg, Va., pre sided over the guests book. The annual State Convention to be held May 15-18 In Pine hurst. was discussed, and dele gates were named from the club. Members from the Norllna Club attending will be Mrs. Walter Hundley, Mrs. Earl Stegall, Mrs. Owen Robertson, Mrs. Frank Kilian. The hostesses served de licious lemon meringue pie, dainty sandwiches, nuts and iced tea with mint. John Mayfield Gives Concert At Norlina The Norlina Literature and Music Club presented John Mayfield, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield of Norllna In a concert on Sunday, April 21, from 3 to 4:30 p. m. Mr. Mayfield Is attending Atlantic Christian College in Wilson where he Is studying voice. His accompanist was Edward Brown, a member of the music faculty at Atlantic Christian College. Mr. Mayfield sang a variety of musical selections that were enjoyed by approximately 50 club members, relatives and friends from Norllna, Macon, Warrenton, Manson, South Hill, Va., and Palmer Springs, Va. The concert was held at the home of Mrs. H. H. Foster with Miss Minnie Harris, Mrs. J. T. Walker and Mrs. A, S. Wy ckoff serving as hostesses. Norlina 4-H Club Meets At VFW Hall The Norlina 4-H Club met Tuesday at 7 p. m. with Kirk Donald presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mary Dowell Taylor and the 4-H Pledge was led by Bonnie Gor don. The program consisted of films on "Airports in the Jet Age" and "The Gasoline Refreshments were served by Lib Floyd, Mary Doweft and Bob Taylor to 16 members and one new member, Gene Hundley. Brotherhood Holds Meeting At Church The Brotherhood met at the Norlina Baptist Church last Thursday at 7:30 p. m. with \7 men attending. Rex Gordon, newly elected president, pre sided over the routine business session. George Kllgore, program -chairman for the month, pre sented Edward Rooker of War renton as guest speaker. He gave an interesting talk on "World Mission and Christian Witnessing." E. B. Davis closed the meet ing with prayer. Homemakers Meet With Mrs. J. F. White Mrs. J. F. White was host ess to the Zlon Extension Home makers Club at her home on Tuesday, April 16, at 2 p. m. Mrs. C. P. Rooker, president, presided. Wise-Paschall Ruritans Hold Regular Meeting The Wise-Paschall Ruritan Club held its regular monthly meeting on last Thursday night with fourteen of its 20 mem bers present. Eugene Young and Joe Beachum were guests of the club. Mr. Beachum spoke on organizing a Boy Scout troop. Dinner was served by the Je rusalem Sifliday School Class. LWMS MEETS The Lutheran Worftan's Mis sionary Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church met Thurs day night at the parish hall with Mrs. Rodgers Holtzman and Mrs. A. P. Holtzman, Jr., as hostesses Mrs. William Ben der, president, presided. Plans were made for the ladies to attend the Christian Growth workshop In Fayettevilleon May 4. Darr, President of The Federal Land Bank of Co lumbia and President of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of Columbia, will be the featured speaker for the annual meeting of the Federal Land Bank Association of Henderson according to an announcement by B. W. Parsons, manager of the Association. The annual stockholders meeting will be held on Satur day, April 27, 1968 at Franklin County Courthouse in Louis burg, beginning at 10:00 a. m. Other activities will include a report on Association pro gress during the past year, election of two directors, and the report of the board of di rectors on important actions taken during the year.
