Armstrong Circle The Annie Armstrong WMU Circle of the Norlina Baptist Church held its August meeting last Monday night at the home of Mrs. Sarah Parham with nine members present. Mrs. Ira Weaver, chairman, presided .and opened the meeting with a devotional message. The members filled out slips pertaining to the new WMS change. Mrs. Lee Williams present ed the program from the Royal Service Magazine, "The in fluence of the Baptist School." Mrs. J. F. Bobbitt dismissed the group with prayer. The hostess served home made peach ice cream and cook ies. Ronnie Robertson Observes Birthday Ronnie Robertson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Robertson, Jr., celebrated his sixth birthday on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 30, at a party on the lawn of his home. Games were played and the honoree received many nice birthday gifts. Ronnie's birthday cake was beautifully decorated, carrying out a circus theme. Favors were presented the guests who also enjoyed cake, ice cream and soft drinks. Mitchell Circle Meets At Church The Margaret Mitchell Cir cle held its regular monthly meeting at the Norlina Baptist Church last Tuesday morning. Mrs. H. J. Shearin, chairman, gave the meditation and Mrs. Alice Stultz gave the opening prayer. The program, "Spiritual Life Development," was given by Mrs. Maggie Adcock, Mrs. Eleanor Mayes, Mrs. H. H. Foster and Mrs. A. J. Bob bitt. 'V'I Bit Miss King Honored At Bridal Showor Miss Gloria King, bride elect of Sept. 8, was entertain ed at a bridal shower Friday evening at the home of the bride. Hostesses were Mrs. Leroy Bartholomew, Mrs. Larry Vance and Mrs. Fred Bartho lomew. The living room was decorat ed with a profusion of summer flowers. The honoree and her mother, Mrs. Vance King, received yel low carnation corsages. The refreshment table was covered with a white embroid ered linen cloth, bearing silver candelabras flanked by greenery. Lime punch, deco rated cake squares, salted nuts and sweet pickles were served to the 25 guests. White Funeral Held At Norlina Church Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Cole White, 84, were conducted Sunday at 3 p. m. at the Norlina Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. S. J. Ep person ahd the Rey. Br.uce Pate officiating. Interment was in Zion Church cem0t^ry2 Mrs. White died at a Hender son Nursing Home at 1:15 p. m. Saturday after an illness of 10 months. She was a member of the Norlina Methodist Church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service. She is survived by two sons, Edward P. White and R. M. White, Jr., of Norlina; abroth er, C. W. Cole of Wise; and two grandchildren. Olga Hood Circle Meets At Parsonage The Olga Hood Circle of the Norlina Baptist Ctiurch met last Monday evening at the par sonage with Mrs. Cecil Baugh man, Jr. The opening prayer was given by the Rev.
