Mrs. Mary LeePrldgen, group leader, led the devo tional period and presided over the business session. Members were urged to at tend the Week of Prayer for Home Missions at the Nor lina Baptist Church March 1-6. The group was presented a list of persons to visit during the next few weeks to encourage Sunday School and Church At tendance. The missionary program was given by Mrs. Ann Mulchl. During the social hour the hostess served strawberry pie, nuts and coffee to the nine members present. The March meeting will be held with Mrs. Jean Williams. Olga Hood Study Group Holds Meeting The Olga Hood Mission Study Group held Its regular monthly meeting last Monday night at the home of Mrs. J. F. Bobbitt with eight members present. Mrs. W. E. Travis presided over the business session and Mrs. Billy Fuller had charge of the program. The group continued the study of Women of the Bible with Mrs. Fuller leading the discus sion of Jezebel and the Queen of Sheba. The hostess served ice ere .un floats, cake and nuts. The next regular meeting of the group will be held at the Mustlan Rest Home In Nor llna. Bridge Club Meets At Home Mrs. Clarke The Norlina Bridge Club met last Thursday night In the home of Mrs. Polly Clarke where two tables were set up for play. High score prize was pre sented to Mrs. Edna Newman and second high to Mrs. Mamie - Thaxton. Mrs. Marlon Hege received the bingo prize. Delicious refreshments were served during play. Marriage Announced Mr. and Mrs. Roland Jack son Collier of Norlina announce the marriage of their daughter, Linda Rose, to Donald Fletcher Newell of Route 1, Warrenton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Newell, on Thursday, Feb. 19. The ceremony was performed In the Norlina Methodist par sonage by the Rev. W. Carson L<ewls. The bride wore a white street-length dress and white accessories. Both Mr. and Mrs. Newell are graduates of Norlina High School. They are making their home In Norlina. Weekend guests of Mrs. Eleanor Hayes were Miss Myr tle Mae Spain of Richmond, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Spain and family of Portsmouth, Va., and Mr. Charles Hayes of East Carolina University in Greenville. The officers presented a skit on the 1970 Program of Work featuring "Charlie Brown," "Lucy", "Linus" and "Snoopy." The new P. o. W. Is designed to help Indi viduals Improve personal fam ily and community living. Plans for going to Murdoch Center were discussed. The FHA will give an Easter party fj(r 60 children on March 28. Norlina School To Conduct Adult Classes The Vocational Agriculture department at Norlina High School will hold classes on Chemical Weed Control meth ods during the month of March. Meetings will be for Adult Farmers and other Interested people on Tuesday nights from 8:00 to 10:00 p. m. These classes wilJ feature programs presented by Chemi cal and Sproy'.-r companies. Anyone wishing more informa tion about the classes is asked to contact the Vocational Agri culture teachers at Norlina High School. Neilson Funeral Is Held Last Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Aca Myrtlce Stegall Neilson, 56, of Norlina were held at 3 p. m. on Thursday of last week at Blaylock Funeral Home by the Rev. Wade Tucker. Burial was in Warren Dale Cemetery at Norlina. Surviving are a son, Howard N, Williams of Providence, R. L; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Salesby of Hopewell, Va., and Mrs. Edna Paynter of Wise; a brother, John E. Stegall of Warrenton and three grand children. MRS. TUCKER HOSTESS Mrs. C. E. Tucker was host ess to members of the Tuesday morning Prayer Group of the Norlina Baptist Church at her home at 10 a. m. Tuesday. Mrs. H. H. Mike Sea man was named for the boys team and Matilda Hunt, Debbie Floyd, and Teresa Hicks to the girls team. We are looklngfor ward to playing in the first dis trict girls tournament to be held in North Carolina. The girls team will play on Thurs day, March 12 at 7:00 in the Rocky Mount High School gym. The opponent is as yet unknown. First Aid And Rescue Course Are Offered HENDERSON?Vance County Technical Institute is sponsor ing an eight-week course in First Aid and Rescue, held Thursdays at the Vance County Fire and Ambulance Service building. The instructor for the course is Richard Matthews, chairman of the Vance County Red Cross First Aid Program. The training, participants re ceive, fulfills a part of the state requirement for obtaining ambulance attendant certifica tion. "Vance Tech is pleased to be able to offer this service to the community at no charge to participants," states' Dr. Ralph A. Green, Director of Adult Education and Commun ity Services. "We endeavor to assist as many other public ser vice agencies as is possl bl e in their making Vance and surrounding counties a plea sant, comfortable place to live," he said. Other training programs in volving area personnel in First Aid and Rescue work have been conducted at the Fire and Am bulance Service building. Re cently, a one-day certificate renewal program was held, drawing participants from Granville, Warren, Franklin and Johnston counties. Cubs And Webelos Honored At Banquet Norlina Cub Scouts, Webelos and leaders of Pack No. 618 re ceived awards at a Blue-Gold banquet held In the fellowship hall of the Norlina United Meth odist Church at 6:30 p. m. on last Thursday evening with 85 persons attending. Den 1 table was decorated with blue and gold colors with its theme "Cubbing Along." Den 2 table used the Indian theme and the Webelos carried out a patriotic theme. The buffet table was decorat ed with blue and gold and center ed with a tall arrangement of yellow mums. Jim Hundley gave the invo cation. Cul/master Tom Currie read "When A Boy Grows Up" was pointed out that disagree ment between the two boards was unfair to the Cochranes, the tnwn and rnimty, It wn at first suggested that the two board meet during the week and reach an agreement.
