RONALD CLINTON MILLS Miss Paynter And Mr. Mills MarrM Miss Pamela Dauphine Payn ter of Norlina and Mr. Ronald Clinton Mills of Winston-Salem were united In marriage in a double-ring ceremony at South Henderson Pentecostal Holi ness Church on Saturday, Aug ust 15, at 8 o'clock in the even ing. The Rev. John Hedgepeth of Fayettevllle and the Rev. Hollis Harris of Rocky Mount, Va., were the officiating min isters. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Paynter of Route 1, Norlina and the groom Is the son of Mrs. Flor ence Baker of Winston-Salem and Mr. Nathan Mills of Mary land. The church decorations con sisted of a twin arrangement of pink roses, glads, mums and baby's breath in altar vases in the front of the church. In the center of those was a 15 branched candlelabra, inter spersed with jade palms and four-seven-branched candela bras. The choir loft was draped with garlands of smilax tied with pink ribbons. Each window held an arrange ment of greens centered with silver candelabra holding a burning taper. Each pew held a nosegay of pink summer flow ers tied wiih pink ribbons. Fam ily pews were marked with nosegays of roses with pink rib bons. A satin covered kneeling beanch and aisle cloth complet ed the decorations. Wedding muLic was render ed by Mrs. Davis Hill of Hen derson and Mr. and Mrs. Don Tuttle of Kernersville, vocal ists, who sang the "Wedding Prayer," "Whither Thou Go est," and the "Sweetest Story Ever Told." Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk organza and Alen con lace. The empire bodice of lace was designed with a sa brlna neckline and short lace sleeves. The skirt extended into a long circular watteau train which fell from the should ers. Her bouffant veil was at tached to a tiny coronet of pearls. She carried a cascade of white roses, stephanotis and baby's breath with white velvet streamers. Mrs. Donnle Harris of Hen derson was matron of honor. She wore a formal length gown of candy pink be nz aline silk. The empire bodice was design ed with a jewel neckline and the full skirt had a Dior Bow at the back. She carried a bas ket of rubrum lilies, pink minia ture carnations, statice with "better times" pink velvet streamers. The bridesmaids were Miss Donna Strange of Henderson, Mrs. Steve Tuttle of Winston Salem, and Mrs. Eddie Tuttle of Franklin Springs, Ga. They wore gowns of petal pink bengal lne silk, Identical in style to that of tha matron of honor, and carried baskets of rubrum lilies, pink miniature carnations, static* with pink velvet streamers. Junior attendants were Miss Matilda Robarson and Master William Batts, jr., of Hender Mr. Eddie Tuttle of Frank lin Springs, Ga., was best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Steve Tuttle of Winston-Salem, Mr. Don Minton of Emporia, Va., Mr. Britt Paynter of Norlina and Mr. Dale Jones of Ninety six, S. C. The bride's mother wore a rose colored dress with match ing accessories and a rubrum lily corsage. The groom's mother wore a pink dress with matching acces sories and a rubrum lily cor sage. For a wedding trip to an unannounced designation, the bride wore a yellow linen dress and a white rose corsage lifted from her bridal bouquet. The bride graduated from Norlina High School, Emmanual College in Franklin Springs, Ga., and Appalachian State University in Boone. She is a member of the faculty of Park View Senior High School at South Hill, Va. The groom graduated from North Forsythe High School in Winston-Salem and Emmanual College in Franklin Springs, Ga. He attended Georgia South ern College In Statesboro, Ga., where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He Is a member of the North Warren Junior High School in Wise. Cake-Cutting The parents of the bride en i tertained at acake-cuttingatthe Glass House at Satterwhlte Point near Henderson Fri day night at 8:30 following the wedding rehearsal. Guests were greeted by Mrs. Ted Hedgepeth of Henr^'son. The wedding party w*; *-.ie receiv ing line. Pouring punch were Mrs. D. H. Reardon of Durham, Mrs. Hugh Hoyle of Henderson and Mrs. Wilbur Harp of Creed moor. Serving cake were Mrs. A. W. Choplin of Henderson, Mrs. Thurman Paynter ofWar renton and Mrs. Milton Trod son of Raeford. Assisting In serving were Mrs. L. H. Roberson, Mrs. John Ellington and Mrs. Mayn ard Burgess, all of Henderson. Miss Ellen Hoyle of Hender son presided over the guest book. The round bride's table was covered in a white satin cloth with a full-length skirt. The table bore a three-tiered wed ding cake, featuring a water fountain and was encircled at the base by four wedding bell cakes. The wedding cake was topped with a floral arch of satin orchids holding two silver trimmed bells and two feathered lovebirds nested in tulle. Two fern trees and one pineapple tree completed the decorations. Refreshments consisted of chicken salad puffs, lovebird mints, cheese rosettes and pink bridal punch. The refreshment table was covet ed with a white satin cloth. Gracing the table were a silver punch bowl and a five-branched candelabra holding an eper gnette of white and pink brid al flowers. The register table held a portrait of the bride in a silver frame, and a silver candlestick holding a burning white tap er with epergnette holding white and pink flowers. Good-byes were said to Mr. and Mrs. it. B. Paynter. Pre-Nuptial Parties Pre-nuptial parties honoring Miss Paynter included a float ing linen and lingerie shower given by Mrs. Margaret Bur gess, Mrs. John Ellington, Mrs. L. H. Roberson, Mrs. Ted Hedgepeth, Mrs. Darrell Hedgepeth, and Mrs. Minnie Hedgpeth, all of Henderson and Mrs. John Hedgepeth of Fayet teville. Approximately 40 guests attended. Miss Paynter was present ed a white carnation corsage and a linen gift by her host esses. The table bore a centerpiece of carnations and pompons and a candelabra- Refreshments consisted of cucumber sand wiches, ribbon sandwiches, nuts and mints and punch. Miss Paynter was honored at a floating shower by Mrs. Llllie Harton and Mrs. E. L. Meador of Norlina, with some 20 guests attending. The table bore a white table cloth and a certerpiece of sum mer flowers and green ribbons. The hostesses presented the bride a picture for her living room. The bride and groom-elect and wedding party were served a buffet style picnic luncheon "on Saturday, Aug. 15. Hostess es were Mrs. A. W. Choplin, Mrs. Hugh Hoyle and Mrs. Donnie Harris, all of Hender son. Hosting the affair were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis E. Fleming, Mrs. W. M. Fleming, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. John Hoyle Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Francis P. Floyd, Mr. and Mrs. Roger K. Fleming and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Y. Fleming. To complement her light blue dress, Mrs. Fleming wore a corsage of yellow carnations tied with metallic gold ribbon and pinned on Mr. Fleming's lapel was a yellow carnation. Guests were greeted by Ellis E. Fleming and Mr. and Mrs. Roger K. Fleming. Mrs. Les lie Morton, granddaughter of the couple, presided over the guest book. Mrs. John Hoyle Davis invit ed guests Into the dining room where the refreshment table was covered with a gold cloth overlaid with white lace. The hostesses presented the bride-elect with a yellow rose corsage. From one end of the table, punch was poured from an an tique hand painted punch bowl by Mrs. Carl Reavis, sister of Mrs. Fleming. On the opposite end of the table was the anni versary cake decorated with white sugar bells and topped with an ornament centered with the numbers 50 in gold. Also served were decorated cake squares, ham biscuits, cheese straws, nuts and mint swirls. Assisting in serving and re celvlng throughout the home were Mrs. Ellis Fleming, Mrs. Marshall Fleming, Mrs. W. M. Fleming, Jr., and grandchiM dren of the couple. Approximately 200 guests called during the afternoon. A special guest was Mrs. J. W. Collins of Henderson who at tended the wedding 50 year.* ago. The Flemings were married August 15, 1920.
