BUILDING BUSINESS
ACROSS MOST BUSINESSES lies the
shadow of an individual. It may be that of
the founder, a loyal employee, a farsighted
executive. It is the shadow of the man who
had the courage to build well.
VISION, FORESIGHT, ABILITY. . .all are
familiar terms in the descriptions of these
men. They are the characteristics looked
upon as inherent in an individual, as gifts
with which he is endowed.
YET BACK OF each successful business,
another influence is - often found. Its
presence is less apparent, perhaps. . .but its
effects are sometimes more pronounced. It
is the influence of a good bank. And the
characteristics of a good bank must parallel
those of the individual. The bank must be
possessed of vision, foresight, and courage.
And it must have character, integrity,
sound judgment.
OF THE SOUND business enterprises of a
community, of the individuals responsible
for them, of the continued growth of
business, a good bank can be proud. Stfth
pride is our most prized possession.
The Service* of This Bank Are Not Limited
to Larger Enterprises. We Welcome the
Problems of the Small Business As Well.

after it had burned over about

Firemen were kept busy
during the past week fighting a

call that was reported because
of a malfunctioning heating
system.
The latter, which occurred at
the Parsonage of the Pentecostal
Holiness Church occurred
at 9:25 p. m. Sunday. No
damage was reported.
Appreciable damage was also
prevented as firemen respond
ed to a gnus fire at #:90 p. a.
February 19 at the Cooper
residence in the Perrytowa
Community.
A wood* fire reported on the
Larry Short property shortly
after noon Tuesday was quickly
brought under control, as was s

Norlina Outlet
Is Moving Here
The Family Shop, an outlet
store, has moved into the store
occupied for some 30 years by
the Polk-A-Oot Gift Shop and is
expected to open formally
within a few days, according to
Robert Jenkins, owner.
Jenkins moved the shop from
Norlina several days ago. At
Norlina he had operated the
store from a trailer on the
Norlina-Warrenton highway for
about six months.
Jenkins said the store here as
well as his stores at Littleton
and Roanoke Rapids would
serve as clothing outlet for
factories.
He and Mrs. Jenkins and
their daughter are making their
home in Macon.
