Price Is
Speaker At
Arts Meeting
The month long celebration
of National Art Month by the
Warrenton Arts Commission
came to a close on Friday night
as the commission presented
Reynolds Price at the final
series of "Friday Night at the
Depot."
Price spoke to a capacity
crowd at the Warrenton Depot,
recently remodeled by the
Woman's Club. He read his first
serious writing, "Michael
Edgerton," a short story he
composed as a freshman at
Duke University. This story is
now taught in most high school
English courses. Later he read
some Bible stories he is
translating into readable narrative
from Hebrew or Greek.
Price commented on his
impressions of the South and
the Carter White House. He
related that his phone rang
constantly during the fall with
calls from New York rept.--tf>rs
wanting informaiior. and definitions
about our southern
lifestyle. He commented that
the south is the most
interesting part of the country,
"the wickedest and the best."
