Certificates Friday By Junior Club
Sixteen girls received
certificates in babysitting
Friday night at the conclusion
of the Babysitters
Clinic sponsored by the
Home Life Department of
the Warrenton Junior Woman's
Club. The one-week
training was held at the
First Citizens Bank Building
in Warrenton.

The highlight of the week
was a visit from eight young
children ranging from age
three months to five years.
Students enjoyed "sitting"
with the children and were
free to ask questions to the
mothers of the children
afterwards.
On Friday, parents of
students were on hand when
Home Life Department

each girl her certificate
and a gift from the
club. Parents and students
were served refreshments
by members of the Warrenton
Juniors.

Completes Course
Army Private Grover L.
Wilkins, son of Abraham
Wilkins of Littleton, recently
completed a nine-week
radio operator course at Ft.
Gordon, Ga.
During the course, students
received instruction in
basic radio and electrical
theory and were taught the
International Morse code.
Pvt. Wilkins entered the
Army in September, 1976.
He completed his high
school education through
the General Educational
Development program.

Ruritan Club Is Planning Summer Events
The Wise-Paschall Ruritan
Club held its regular
monthly meeting on May 16.
Following dinner^ Joe Cobb,
president, called the meeting
to order.
W. C. King, secretary,
explained to the club the
20-year lease given the club
by the Warren County Board
of Education for the old
Wise School property.
During the business session,
a donkey ballgame was
planned for Friday night,
August 26, at 8 p. m. at the
Wise ball park. The club
also decided to sponsor a
country blue grass and
gospel festival on Friday
night, June 24.

planned that night from 5 p.

the supper, a country blue
grass-gospel talent show
will be held offering $100 for
first place, $50 for second
place and $25 for third place.
Any bands or groups
wishing to enter the contest
should write the Wise-Paschall
Ruritan Club in Wise.
Tickets for the festival
will be sold by Ruritan
members with adult tickets
selling for $2 and children's
tickets, $1. Proceeds will be
used for lights on the
ba llfie Id.
The club also passed a
motion to sponsor a softball
tournament sometime In
June; to give $60 to Murdoch
School at Butner to sponsor
a child to summer camp and
to Kings Dominion; and to
give a job site in the Wise
community to five school
children during the summer.
The jobs are through
the Franklin-Vance-Warren
Opportunity.
