She is a graduate of Peace College and presently a stewardess with Delta Air Lines. Mr. Deibel is a graduate of N. C. State University in Raleigh and is presently Director of Inventory Control with Snap Finger Sports Wear. After the ceremony a reception was held in the garden at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Franklin Andrews. Following the reception the bridal couple left on their wedding trip to Hawaii. The home was decorated throughout with roses and on the refreshment table was an appointment of pink sweetheart roses. Mrs. Glen Davis poured yellowbird punch from a crystal punch bowl. Other refreshments consisted of bridal cake squares, cheese biscuits, chicken salad sandwiches, nuts and mints. DELMA RAY MATTHEWS Mabel Esther Jones Weds Delma Matthews Miss Mabel Esther Jones and Delma Ray Matthews were joined in marriage on June 11 at Saint Augustine's College Chapel in Raleigh, in a double-ring ceremony. Dr. Frank B. Weaver of Watts Chapel Baptist Church of Raleigh and the Rev. Clyde E. Beatty of Saint Augustine's College Chapel assisted in the 6 p. m. service. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Jones of Afton community. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Matthews of Raleigh. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory silk gown with attached chapel train. The bride carried a cascade of white roses accented with red sweetheart roses and greenery. The church was decorated with arrangements of white mums, carnations, and pompons of greenery flanked by twin nine-branched candelabras. The parents pews were marked with white bows. The bridal couple received prayers and blessings while kneeling on a double kneeling bench. Miss Carolyn D. Paxton of Silver Spring, Md., served as the maid of honor and bridesmaids included Miss Detrice Bankhead of Los Angeles, Calif., Miss Marie Jones and Mrs. Earthlene Williams of Washington, D. C., sisters of the bride, Mrs. Lucy Miller of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Vergie McNeil of Raleigh, sister of the groom, Miss Gloria Rogers of Hagertown, Md., Miss Magnolia Williams of Warrenton and Miss Pamala Lett of Raleigh, niece of the groom. Miss Sabrina Renee Fishers of Raleigh, was flower girl and William Sherrod, III, of Landover, Md., was ring bearer. Mrs. Matthews received her Bachelor of Science at Southeastern University of Washington, D. C. and her Master of Business Administration at Atlanta University at Atlanta, Ga. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Presently, she is an assistant professor of business at Saint Augustine's College at Raleigh. Mr. Matthews attended Saint Augustine's College and IBM Electronics School at Poughkeepsie, N. Y. He has been employed with IBM corporation for 11 years and is presently serving as a Development Laboratory Specialist. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews will make their home in Raleigh after honeymooning in Nassau, Bahamas. Reception A reception was held at the Martin Luther King Student Union following the ceremony. The table was overlaid with a satin cloth trimmed in lace. Greenery was used as swags. Centering the table was a four-stemmed candelabra holding white burning tapers and an arrangement of white and red mums and carnations. At another table was the five-tiered wedding . cake decorated v/ith red and white roses and topped with doves of love. After the traditional cutting by the couple, cake was served to the guests. The bridal party and parents were introduced after passing through an arch of white roses. A special song to Mr. and Mrs. Matthews was composed and sung by Negleatha Jones of Kinston. She was assisted by Anthony Suggs, also of Kinston. Following that duet the Sorors of Delta Theta Sorority Sang their sweetheart song to the couple. Music for the evening was rendered by Harold Jeffreys Combo, who began by playing "Inseparable" dedicated to the new couple. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews led the first dance of the evening, later joined by guests. Rehearsal Dinner A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's family on Friday evening following the wedding rehearsal at the Driftwood Clubhouse. The bride and groom chose this time to remember their wedding party by giving each a special gift. Later that evening a cocktail party was given by Sheryl Covington, the bride's sorority sister. Showers Prior to the wedding, the bride wu honored with a ■hower given by Mrs. Ida Alexander, Mrs. Delores Dunn and Mra. Mable Wright. Friends Fete Wedding Party The John Boyd Da via family honored Colonel and Mrs. John Pollard of Fayetteville at a cocktaB party at the Davis home on Friday night. Lovely decorations were used throughout the home. Hors d'oeuvres were served and the dining table was laden with food for the evening. Guests were friends from out-of-town and Warrenton. Col. and Mrs. John Pollard, John Boyd Davis and Coco Pollard were honored at a pig picking at Largo on Saturday night. Hosts for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baskervill of New Bern, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Pettway Boyd, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Williams of Raleigh, Pettway Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. William S. Arts Commission To Exhibit Series 'Window Works' A new exhibit series sailed "window worka" la >eing sponsored by the ffarrenton Alia Commislion. Beginning June IS ihrough June 30 selections from the Children's Art Festival will be on display in lie Cash Company windows. A different art form will >« displayed in the Cash Company windows on Main Street through July. Future exhibitors will be Irene Minton, exhibiting oil paintings and Jackie Young, exhibiting oil paintings and pen and ink drawings. The first exhibit is irtwork done by Warren Dounty school children. The irt pieces were completed in school during the past ichool year. The Warrenton Arts Commission will sponsor Summer Art Lessons at the studio. The lessons will be taught by Susan Simmons, artist-in-residence. The schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday, 2-4 p. m., ages 5-12; Thursday, 2 - 4 p. m., teenagers; Friday, 10-12 noon, adults. The younger children will concentrate on color and mixed media. Teenagers will concentrate on perspective and drawing skills. The adult classes on Friday morning will paint, concentrating on landscapes of Warren County.
