In Memoriam
In Memory of My Dad,
Robert Kelly Carroll, Jr.
On July 11,1 lost one of
the dearest people in my
life. Since it worked out
that I gave birth on the
day of my Dad's funeral,
I didn't get the opportuni
ty to express to friends
and family how I felt
about my Dad.
Daddy was a quiet-na
tured person but had faith
that was very contagious.
He never drilled it into
any of his children, but
we felt it just by the life
he lived. He knew God
would supply all his needs
because he worked the
land, planted his crops,
and left the rest up to
God.
One of his most
admirable traits was that
his philosophy was "if
you can't say something
good about someone,
don't say anything at
all." In all the years I was
around him, he never
uttered a harsh word
about anyone. How much
more Christlike could
anyone be?
I had a Daddy who
loved his family, provid
ed well for us, and was
always there when we
needed him. He never
interfered in my married
life and was glad to see us
when we came but never
demanded anything.
I shall miss him greatly
but feel a sense of joy that
he is in a better place and
well. Being the vital and
vivacious person that he
was, a part of me died
each time I saw him in
such a pitiful condition. 68
is quite a young age to
die, but Daddy was
blessed with extremely
good health up until this
time. With this health, he
led a full and rich life.
Robert Kelly Carroll is
gone now, but he left an
indelible stamp on my
life. I shall strive hard to
honor his memory by
striving to live the life he
did. As some scripture in
the Bible says "I thank
my God for every
remembrance of thee."
His Loving Daughter,
ELLEN CARROLL

Earth's Wobble
As of now, there are still
only theories about the strange
shimmy. Scientists think it
could be related to the motion
of the earth's molten core,
the melting of ice caps, the
unevenness of the earth's land
masses, or the movement of
the seas. They also have noticed
that when the wobble reaches
its peak every seven years, as
it did in 1978, this coincides
with a period of major earth
quakes. But whether the wob
ble causes the earthquakes or
vice versa is not known.
