Mr. and Mrs. Ira Weaver. Mrs. Carrie Allen, Leonard Wilker, Mrs. Sue Wilker and Mr. and Mrs. J W Wilson attended the funeral of Mrs. Mattie Bobbitt at Enterprise Baptist Church on Satur day. Mr and Mrs. Roger Norwood visited her mother, Mrs. Farrow in Lexington, Va., for her birthday on Thursday and Friday Mr. and Mrs. James Vaughan attended the birthday celebration for her grandfather, Joe Norwood in Creedmoor on Sunday. There were some 51) guests, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren attending, including Mr and Mrs. Dennis Norwood and Mr. and Mrs Phillip Rice. While in Creedmoor they also visited Mrs. Vaugh an's sister, Mrs. Linda Pulley and her two-week old son. Mr and Mrs. Robert L. "Sonr.v "Goodbar of Dur ham spent Sunday after noon with Mr. and Mrs. Roger Norwood. Mrs. Faye Noneman and son. Bob, of Edenton spent several days last week with her mother, Mrs. Martha Draffin. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Perkinson of Shelby visit ed her grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Dalton. on Sunday. Returns Home Mrs. Thelma Rooker returned home Sunday after an extended stay out of town. She attended the wedding of her granch daughter. Miss Lynn Matthews Hunter to Larry Leon Thomas in Greensboro on Aug. 2. From there she accom panied her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Truett Callahan, to their home in Winder, Ga., where she spent several weeks. En route home, Mrs. Rooker toured Stone Mountain and other points and places of interest. She also visited her nephew, Anthony Brown and family who reside in S. C. Meth. Women Have Gathering The General Meeting of the Norlina United Meth odist Women was held in the choir room of the church on Monday with 10 members present. During the business session, Mrs. Quay Rob inson, president, remind ed the ladies of the following coming events: Sept. 14, The "Under 39 Event" to be held at St. James U.M.C. in Ral eigh; Oct. 3 and 4, the Conference Annual Meet ing to be held at Methodist College in Fayetteville and on Nov. 12 at 10 a. m. the Raleigh District Meeting will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Cary. Mrs. Dot Newsom and Mrs. Marion Hege pre sented an interesting pro gram entitled "Parables of Jesus - Glimpses of the New Age." Mrs. Hege closed the meeting with a prayer. The next General Meet ing will be held at the church on Nov. 24. Drewry Women Have Meeting Women of the Drewry United Methodist Church met in the home of Mrs. Jean Weston on Thursday iJght. President Mollie Paschall opened the meeting by reading a poem entitled "I Know Something Good About You." Mrs. Weston gave the devotion on the subject of kindness. Mrs. Mary McGee —shewed a film which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Jeanie Wilson read a poem, "The Use Of Time." Mrs. Weston served home-made ice cream, cookies and peanuts to the nine members and six visitors present. The Rev. Mike Safley led in prayer after which the group joined hands and sang "Bless Be The Tie." The September meeting will be in the home of Mrs. Sallie Mitchell. Arthur-Mulchi Vows Exchanged In Home In an evening cere mony of reverence and simplicity. Miss Vicki Lynne Mulchi became the bride of Ellis William Arthur on August 13. Family members and close friends attended the ceremony performed by the Rev. Tommy Y. Neal, pastor of the bride, in the bride's home. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Wilson Mulchi of Norlina, the bride is a graduate of Norlina High School and Raleigh School of Data Processing and holds a position in Peebles Dept. Store office in South Hill Va. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Arthur of Baskerville, Va. He is a graduate of Park View High School, and is presently engaged in farming. For the occasion, the home was decorated with white daisies, baby's breath and fern, an ar rangement on the mantle, with burning tapers in candlebras. Hurricane globe candlesticks burn ed from an appointed area. The bride's por trait, flanked with burn ing tapers, was displayed in the living room. A brass urn in the fireplace held an arrangement of acuba. Candles were lit by Gary Vaughan of Warrenton prior to the ceremony. The couple entered the living from unattended and were given in marriage by their par ents. The bride wore a vanilla white gown of polyester lace over ace tate and rayon. It had an elasticized neckline with flounce collar, an empire waistline and pleated skirt. It was accented with a satin tie belt. She carried a lace covered prayer book which held a bouquet of daisies, fern and baby's breath. Her pearl ear rings which she wore were a gift of her parents. Reception Immediately following the wedding service, the couple were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Mulchi with a reception in the dining room. The serving table was cover ed with a white chantilly lace cloth. A honeycomb wedding bell hung from the chandelier. An ar rangement of white and yellow daisies, fern and baby s breath on a silver candlestick with burning taper centered the table. The credenza held a yellow floral arrange ment of gladiolus, chry santhemums and fern. After the couple had cut the three-tier wedding cake which held a silver goblet inverted with a floral nosegay, the groom toasted the bride with the goblet. The nosegay was removed prior to the toasting for the tradition al bouquet throwing which the bride's 76-year old grandmother caught. Mrs. Connie Mulchi, aunt of the bride served the cake while Mrs. Debbie Newcomb, sister of the groom, served punch. Mrs. Bonnie King of Paschall, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Joyce Myrick of Petersburg, Va., aunt of the bride, assisted in serving ham biscuits, cucumber sand wiches, mints, nuts and cheese straws from silver appointments. For their departure, the bride changed into a two-piece blue polyester dress and white acces sories. She lifted the corsage from her bridal bouquet. Miss Brenda Lloyd of South Boston, Va., niece of the groom, gave guests rice bags which the couple were showered with upon leaving. The couple are at home in Baskerville, Va. Mr. Hicks Feted On His Birthday Mrs. W. S. Hicks enter tained at dinner on Sun day in honor of Mr. Hicks's birthday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Yelverton of Goldsboro, Mr.and Mrs. Frank Weaver, Matthew and Jason of Greensboro, Mrs. Maude Kilian and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Weaver. Announce Birth Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Rivers of Norlina an nounce the birth of a son, Christopher George, on August 23 at Maria Parham Hospital in Hen derson. The infant weigh ed seven pounds, five ounces. Mrs. Rivers is the former Miss Paige Bob bitt of Norlina. Family Unites The Lambert Family reunion was held Sunday at the Drewry Commun ity Center with 50 guests registering from Raleigh. Norlina, Wise, Manson, Edenton, Richmond, Va., Roanoke, Va., and La crosse, Va. It was noted that only two of the 17 children of Ben and Lula Lambert survive. They are Mrs. Lucy Robertson of Hen derson and Mrs. Pearl Boyer of Roanoke, Va. Neither was able to attend. The Rev. J. Winston Pearce brought the me morial message and asked the blessing. A delicious picnic lunch was served. Ronnie Hlgtat, former resident of Warren County who is now manager of Manteo's Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, presented the program at Friday night's meeting of the Warrenton Lions Club. Paynter were honored vith a 25th wedding mniversary celebration it the Fellowship Hall of iVise Baptist Church on Sunday, August 10. The hall was beautiful y decorated with a pink ind green color scheme. Centering the refresh nent table was a cande labrum bearing a lovely urangement of daisies ind pink and white carna ions. The table was further adorned with a Jiree-tiered wedding lake. As guests arrived, they vere greeted by Mrs. Janis Meek, while Mrs. Vlildred Wilson register Hi them. The cake was nit by Mrs. Vernie Felts uid Mrs. Lois Hawks, .vhile Mrs. Frances young poured the punch. Presiding over the gift able were Mrs. Frances Fen-ell and Miss Lynn rucker. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. little, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Salmon attended the N. Y. Yankies and Baltimore Orioles ball game last Friday night and Saturday in Baltimore, Md. The Rev. and Mrs. Marvin A. Pegram of Frankville and the Rev. Danny Scott and daughter, Courtney, of Denver, Col. were Thursday night visitors of Mrs. Gladys Stansbury. Roy Spain of Virginia Beach, Va. and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Redmer of Goldsboro spent the weekend in the cabin of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Spain on Gaston Lake. Mrs. A. P. Farmer was their Sunday dinner guest. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Sykes attended the New Hope Church Sunday School class picnic at Wildwood Point Club near Littleton Sunday. His granddaughter, Mrs. Peggy 0. Stansbury, and son, Joey, of Raleigh were among the 20 members attending. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferrell Wortham of West Palm Beach, Fla. have passed the good news to relatives here of the good report of an operation on his nose which he had in a Richmond, Va. hospital last week. He will soon be going back home.
