DR. R. E. WILLIAMS
GOLDSBOKO - Graveside
services for Dr.
Robert Edgar Williams, 87,
retired dentist of 1405 E.
Mulberry St., were held
Friday at 11 a. m. at Willow
Dale Cemetery. Dr. J.
Paul Edwards, officiated.
Golfing companions served
as pallbearers.
Dr. Williams practiced
dentistry in Goldsboro for
50^2 years prior to his
retirement.
A native of Warren County,
he was the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Edgar Williams of Warrenton.
He attended Warren
High School, John Graham
Academy and Trinity
College prior to entering
the Army in 1917 and serving
as an officer in the
Infantry Training School at
Camp Lee, Vi.
After receiving his
D.D.S. degree from the
University of Maryland
School of Dentistry in 1925
where he vt&s a member of
Xi Psi Phi, he established
his practice in Goldsboro in
1926.
He was <i leader in the
Wayne County Dental
Society and that organization
presented him a watch
in 1968 for 42 years of
service.
Dr. Williams was a life
member of the North
Carolina Dental Society
and the American Dental
Association, a member of
the International College of
Dentists, and a member of
Federation Dentaire International.
He was a past
president of the Fifth
Dental Society and the
Wayne County Dental
Society.
He was honored by the N.
C. Dental Society in 1967
with the dedication of the
Journal to him.
Dr. Williams was a charter
member of the Civitan
Club in which he held every
office. He was named
Civitan of the Year in 1967,
was presented a life
membership in 1974, and a
special award for more
than 30 years of service.
He was also a member of
the Goldsboro Elks Lodge
and the American Legion
with a life membership.
He served on the Wayne
County Board of Health for
30 years and was a
member of the staff at
Wayne County Memorial
Hospital for over 50 years.
He was also a member of
the Wayne County
Historical Society and of
the North Carolina
Literary and Historical Association,
Inc.
He was an honorary Admiral
in the Navy for the
Battleship North Carolina.
He was a charter member
of the Goldsboro Country
Club and the Walnut Creek
Country Club. He was also
a member of St. Paul
United Methodist Church.
His hobby was golf and
he had two holes-in-one at
the Goldsboro Golf Course.
He had won three trophies.
He is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Adalia (Dale)
Futrell Williams; a
brother, Frederick
Williams, and a sister,
Mrs. Estelle Williams
Lipscomb of Warrenton.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requested that
memorials be made to St.
Paul United Methodist
Church or to the Goldsboro
Rescue Squad.
HELEN MAE MABRY
Funeral services for
Mrs. Helen Mae Felts
Mabry, 83, of the Afton
community, were
conducted at 2:30 p.m.
Monday from Blaylock
Funeral Chapel in
Warrenton by the Rev. Ed
Childress. Burial was in
Providence United Methodist
Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Mabry died Friday
night after an extended
period of illness. She was
the widow of Vernon
Mabry of the Afton
community and the
daughter of the late Peter
and Rebecca Felts.
She is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Howell
(Mildred) Steed of Afton;
two brothers, Clifton D.
Felts and Peter Wilson
Felts, both of Henderson;
four sisters, Mrs. Sarah F.
Mabry, Mrs. Ida F. Finch
and Mrs. Wilma F. Currin,
all of Henderson, and Mrs.
Lena F. Fuller of
Warrenton; a grandchild,
and a great-grandchild.
Nephews served as
pallbearers.
HARRY L. LEETE
Graveside services for
Harry Leslie Leete, 80, of
Wise will be conducted this
afternoon (Wednesday) at
2:00 o'clock in the Wise
Cemetery by the Rev.
Robert Rogers.
Mr Leete, a retired railroad
employee, died Monday
at Warren General
Hospital.
He is survived by his
widow, Mrs. Margaret
Leete of the home; a sister,
Mrs. Mabel Rochelle of
Henderson; two brothers,
Robert O. Leete of Warrenton
and Edward Leete
of Colonial Heights, Va.;
and several nieces and
nephews.

LITTLETON - Funeral
services for Caroline
Alston, 86, of Littleton were
held Saturday at 2 p.m.
from Mount Zion Baptist
Church in Littleton by the
Rev. Wayne Welch. Burial
was in the church
cemetery.
Mrs. Alston died on
Wednesday of last week in
Halifax Memorial Hospital
in Roanoke Rapids.
She is survived by two
daughters, Virginia
Hawkins and Grace
Carter, both of Iittleton; a
son, Charlie Alston of the
home; and 29 grandchildren.

Mr. Dickens died Friday
at Halifax Memorial
Hospital in Roanoke
Rapids.

and Russell Lee Dickens,
both of Roanoke Rapids;
and a half-sister, Mrs. Roy
Lee Floyd of Raleigh.

County, he was the son of

parents, he is survived
three sisters, Dalerie
Annette Bobbitt, Ktanye
Bobbitt and Myra Bobbitt,
all of Henderson; two
brothers, Staff Sgt. O. Z.
Bobbitt, Jr., of Fort Bragg
and Michael Glenn Bobbitt
of Oxford; his maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Alice
Carroll of Warrenton; and
his paternal grandfather,
Newton Bobbitt of
Henderson.

John Henry Kearney, 54,

Mr. Kearney died Friday
in the Veterans'
Administration Hospital in
San Francisco, Calif. The
son of the late Toney and
Mattie Hicks Kearney, he
was born Sept. 20, 1927, in
Vance County.
Survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Dencie Kearney
of San Francisco, Calif.;
four daughters, Virginia
Kearney, Cynthia Kearney
and Annette Kearney, all
of San Francisco, Calif.,
and Mrs. Myrtice Chavis of
Soul City; a son, Toney
Kearney of Philadelphia,
Pa.; six sisters, Mary E.
Kearney, Mrs. Elnora
Jones, Mrs. Sadie Malone
and Queen E. Kearney, all
of Washington, D. C., and
Mrs. Mattie K. Henderson

Mr. Pendergrass, a
retired farmer, died Saturday
at Franklin Memorial
Hospital in Louisburg. He
was the son of the late Jim
and Rhoda Lloyd Pendergrass
and was a member
of Unity Baptist Church.
He is survived by his
widow. Mrs. Laura Dickerson

home; two sons, Morris

and Edward Pendergrass
of Warrenton; two daughters.
