Couple Says Vows During Local Rites Maggie Jones of Warrenton and Jerome Harrison of Hollister were united in marriage on Saturday, March 20, at the Lions Den in Warren ton The Rev. Bruce Spruill of Rocky Mount officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her oldest brother, Millard A. Richardson. Miss Tanya Jones of Warrenton, sister of the bride was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Lou Harrison, sister of the groom and Tresea Harrison, niece of the groom, both of Hollister. Willie Harrison, cousin of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Reggie Jones of Salisbury and Jason Jones of Warrenton, brothers of the bride and a cousin of the bride, Bernie Silver. Music was provided by Danny Silver of Enfield. The Lions Den was beautifully decorated with pink, white, and blue mums and carnations and blue and white ribbons were draped over the altar. The bride wore a floorlength gown of white satin taffeta with a fitted bodice and long, fitted sleeves. Her headpiece of net trimmed with lace draped down into a long train. The reception following the ceremony was hosted by the bride's mother, Mrs Jerlene R. Jones. The buffet consisted of ham, fried chicken, barbecue, potatoe salad, macaroni salad, rolls and punch. It was served buffet style, except for the bride's table. Her table was decorated with an offwhite lace cloth, white, blue and pink mums and carnations graced the center. • Seated at the bride's table were the Rev. and Mrs. Bruce Spruill, Mr. and Mrs. George Harrison, Mrs. Jerlene Jones, and the bride and groom. The three-tier cake was cut by the bride and groom, and served by Mr. and Mrs. Faudell of Warrenton. Mrs. Queen R. Pulley assisted with the wedding arrangements. Bridal Shower A bridal shower was given for the bride on March 15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Harrison. Potato chips, nuts, mints, ice cream and punch were served and the bride received many nice gifts. Firemen Report Two Calls Heard During the past week the Warrenton Volunteer Rural Firemen responded to two alarms, one at 5:23 p. m. on Thursday of last week and the other on Tuesday at 8:02 a. m. Thursday the firemen responded to an automobile fire in the Snow Hill community. Upon the arrival of seven men with a pumper they found the fire in a 1972 Ford station wagon had been extinguished. The fire possibly originated from a leak in the engine compartment, the firemen reported. They said the engine and engine compartment was ignited Damage was estimated at $200. On Tuesday morning seven firemen with a pumper responded to a chimney fire at the home of Jack Jones on the Baltimore Road. The firemen stood by as the chimney burned out. No damage was reported. At least 500billion matches were manufactured in the U nited States last year. English druggist John Walker invented the first friction match in 1127. Close to 9,000 persons were burned \ by matches in 1974. "Oose Cover Before Striking."
