Donald Morris Curtis, speeding 80 in 55 mph zone, called and failed, judgment absolute on bond, voluntary dismissal with leave. Carl Scott Lyle, speeding 68 in 55 mph zone, entered plea of guilty of exceeding safe speed, $10 fine and costs. Robert B. Kotal, speeding 50 in 20 mph zone, entered plea of guilty of exceeding a safe speed, $10 fine and costs. Winfred L. Jefferies, speeding 78 in 55 mph zone, called and failed, bond ordered forfeited. Gerald Ronald Sandusky, driving while license revoked, entered plea of guilty of no operator's license, $25 fine and costs. Cleveland Richardson, operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility, no registration, driving while license revoked and driving under the influence of alcoholic beverage, ordered to jail for one year, suspended for three years and defendant placed on probation for three years on condition he pay a $200 fine and costs, attend and complete the Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School and pay the $100 tuition, and not own an automobile during the time of suspension. James W. Hunter, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. James G. Waibel, speeding 68 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Alvin McKinnon, no driver's license and larceny of an auto, voluntary dismissal. Julius Romolo George, speeding 68 in 55 mph zone, entered plea of guilty of exceeding a safe speed, $10 fine and costs. Danny Edward Davis, speeding 65 in 55 mph zone, entered plea of guilty of improper equipment, $10 fine and costs. Joseph E. Fischer, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Marshall Albert Tutor, speeding 68 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Walter B. Duckworth, speeding 75 in 55 mph zone, called and failed, bond ordered forfeited. L,ewis in. rinicerman, driving under the influence of alcoholic beverage, called and failed. William Alan Adams, inspection violation, called and failed, arrest order issued and bond set at $200. Charles Ramey, assault by pointing a gun, voluntary dismissal. David G. Shaw, worthless check, called and failed, arrest order issued and bond set at $200. James Henry Cook, driving under the influence of alcoholic beverage, inspection violation and no driver's license, entered plea of guilty of careless and reckless driving after consumption, ordered to jail for six months, suspended for one year on condition he pay fine of $125 and costs and attend and complete the Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School and pay the $100 tuition. Edward Thomas Cooper, forgery and uttering, entered plea of guilty of misdemeanor attempting to obtain property by issuing a worthless check, ordered to jail for 45 days. James Alston, communicating threats, voluntary dismissal. Gartrell Wheeler, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Stephen Robert Windham, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone and stop sign violation, called and failed. Marilyn Denise Sansberry, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Barbara Octavia Howard, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Willie White, two counts of murder, 96-hour hearing held, F. W. Ballance, Jr. appointed to represent defendant, no bond set. Dewey Smith, injury to land and assault with a deadly weapon, ordered to jail for 30 days, suspended for two years on condition he not go on the premises of Charles Prigge during the suspension, pay $25 restitution for damages to property and pay the costs of court. Senior Wins Scholarship Ann Franklin, a rising senior at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, was named the winner of the Dixie Schulz Scholarship Award at the College's commencement exercises on Saturday, May 22. The award, sponsored by The Dames at St. Andrews. is given to a rising senior in recognition of service to the college and community. Miss Franklin, a premed student, is an honor student, a volunteer tutor in a Laurinburg middle school, and is a member of the Health Science Club, and the College Christian Union. She was cited for her 'reliability, compassion, honesty and distinct caring for others" at the awards presentation. Miss Franklin, a 1979 graduate of John Graham High School, is the daughter of Mrs. Jennie J. Franklin of Warrenton. Hargrove Among May 16 Grads William Earl Hargrove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Napoleon Hargrove of Manson, received a B.S. degree in health and physical education from St. Augustine's College in Raleigh in commencement exercises on May 16.
