Warren Plaza News
By MARTHA PAGE
We have made it
through another week in
spite of the ice and the
cold weather. It has kept
us all inside and several
of the residents have the
sniffles, but most of us
have tolerated it well.
Tempers get a little
bit on edge when
everyone has to stay in
side all the time, but
playing some games
and putting the record
player out in the hall
and having a dance
helped to make
everyone feel better.
Our residents really do
enjoy music of any kind.
It makes everyone feel
better when we play
records for them.
A group from South
Henderson Church of
God brought a guitar
player and singers with
them Sunday when they
Mrs. Mary White
Entertains Class
The V. L. Pendleton
Philathea Class of the
Warrenton Baptist
Church met in the home
of Mrs. Mary White on
Jan. 10 at 8 p. m. Mrs.
Louis Hutton and Mrs.
Ruth Reams were co
hostesses.
Mrs. Jack Grove,
president, presided.
The devotional period
was conducted by Miss
Virgie Duke.
After the various
committee reports were
presented, Mrs. Mary
White gave a program
consisting of thoughts
for everyday living
taken from "A Fence of
Trust" by Mary Fran
ces Butts. Well-known
quotes from Phillips
Brooks, Charles
Kingley, William Chan
ning, Tennyson,
Longfellow and others
were used.
The meeting was
closed with prayer by
Mrs. Groves.
During the fellowship
period, Mrs. White ser

came to hold our church
service and everyone
enjoyed thera so much.
We are very thankful for
this group. They have
been coming each Sun
day afternoon for
almost two years and
the residents really do
look forward to their
visit each week.
Several of our
residents have had
visitors this week. They
are: Ernest Pauley,
Grant Scarborough,
Edgar Bullock, Dora
Collier, Mina Reid,
Pearl Bobbitt, Norman
Reed, Mollie Dye,
Louise Kearney, Joe
and Maude Radford,
Tillman Mathes, Bur
nice Roberson, James
Brodie, Joseph Ayscue,
Francis Green, Otis
Shearin and Walter
Rich.
I wish it were possible
for all of our residents to
have visitors on a
regular basis, but some
of them do not have
families or have
families that simply
can't be bothered. We
now have a lot of young
people living with us and
these people, especially,
need some family con
tact. It's sad enough
that they would need to
be in a rest home, but
even sadder when they
are put here and their
families don't even
come to visit. Some of
them don't even get
mail from home.
