Mrs. Lillian Morris and Mrs. Lois Liverman of Roanoke Rapids visited M. A. Lyles on Monday. Mrs. Brenda Vaughan underwent surgery at Wake Memorial Hospital last week. The family of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Choplin attended their home church, Sulphur Sprngs Baptist Church, or Sunday. After the service, the family had lunch at The Rafters in Warrenton. The fellowship was enjoyed by all. Flippin of Colonial Heights, Va., visited Mrs. Myrtle Fleming on Thursday and Friday of last week. Mrs. Fleming visited her daughter, Mrs. Earl Haddock in Cary on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Egerton and Joey spent the weekend in Knightdale with Mr. and Mrs. Wade Freeman. David Severance of the Citadel spent several days last week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Severance. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Wiggins, Stacy and Ben, of Raleigh spent Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wiggins. Mr. Wiggins has returned home from Veterans Hospital in Durham. Drewry Ladies Club Gathers Mrs. Annie Wilson and Mrs. Frances Curtis entertained the Drewry Ladies Club on Feb. 22 in the home of Mrs. Wilson. Refreshments were served to the 14 members and one guest as the ladies enjoyed a period ol fellowship. Mrs. Curtis, club president, called the meeting to order. Mrs. Jessie McAuslin offered the devotional reading from Mark 8. She also gave an inspirational reading from the "Upper Room" followed by prayer. Mrs. Wilson read the minutes of the last meeting and Mrs. Gene Weston gave the treasurer's report. The group made plans for a trip to Raleigh to attend the Home and Garden Show and Mrs. Wilson presented the program on taxes and laws. She also read a list of old laws from many years past that are still on the books today. Some were comical and others were serious. The ladies were asked to bring pennies to the meeting to be used in a game, all money was placed in the club treasury. Mrs. Elizabeth Richards won the door prize. Couple Planning Vows Exchange Mrs. Ada Carter of Norlina and Howitt Carter of Wise announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Nancy Rose, to Dennis Moton Paschall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Paschall of Norlina. The wedding will take place on May 5 at 2 p. m. at Norlina United Methodist Church. No invitations will be sent, but friends and relatives are invited to attend. Birth Announced Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Woolard of Norlina announce the birth of a son, David Glenn, on March 6 in Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson. The infant weighed eight pounds, eight ounces. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Garska of Raleigh. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Woolard of Washington, N.C. Revival Slated At Church Here Gospel Baptist Church, on U. S. 158 east in Norlina, will hold revival services beginning Sunday, March 18 at 7:00 p. m. and continuing through to Friday, March 23. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. nightly. Guest evangelist for the revival will be the Rev. Lewis Zachary, a successful pastor now in full-time evangelism. Nursery and special music will be provided each night. Pastor Gary M. Arts Festivals Aired At Women's Meeting By LILLIAN JULIAN The Norlina Woman's Club met March 7 at 8 p. m. at the clubhouse with Mrs. Margaret Brame and Mrs. Alice Stultz as hostesses. Mrs. Lillian Kilian, president, presided and welcomed two guests, Mrs. W. S. Hicks, Jr. and E. L. Perry, mayor of Norlina. The devotion was led by Mrs. Mildred Grissom, who paraphrased the sixth part of the Woman's Club Collect, "Teach us to put into action our better impulses." Mrs. Margaret Anne Brame led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Mrs. Brame then reported that at the Arts Festival which had been held in Oxford, Feb. 25, she had received a red ribbon in the Crafts Division for her covered cheese box, and that Mrs. Lillian Kilian had received a red ribbon for a sonnet entitled, "Mary Speaks." The president noted that the North Carolina States Arts Festival will be held in WinstonSalem on March 24, and that the North Carolina State Meeting will be held in Raleigh, April 30May 3 at which time Mrs. Betty Weathers of the Youngsville Woman's Club, District 14, will be installed as state president. Members were urged to attend. Mrs. Ree Robertson, chairperson of the Conservation Department —Beautification Division, presented Mayor Perry who commented on a project in his ad ministration to improve the appearance of Nor Una. He then pointed out several areas which could be greatly enhanced by landscaping and planting of shrubs and flowers, particularly the section from which the old Seaboard Airline Roadroad Airline Railroad station is now being removed. He also stated that he hoped civic clubs and various businesses, as well as individuals, will also become interested and will volunteer their resources and time to this project. The members and guests then enjoyed a fellowship hour as the hostesses served refreshments. The next monthly meeting will be April 3. The program will be given by the Home Life Department and the hostesses will be Mrs. Mae Shearin and Mrs. Mamie Weaver. An April wedding is planned. Women Gather In Ranes Home The United Methodist Women of Drewry met Thursday night in the home of Alice Ranes. In the absence of the president, the meeting was called to order by the vice president, Frances Curtis. Mrs. Ranes gave the devotion and Elaine Mitchell had the program.
