G1LEND4R Revival Crusade Planned Greenwood Baptist Church of Warrenton will hold a Youth Spring Revival Crusade for Christ April 24 27 at 7:30 p. m. each night The Rev. Thomas L. Walker of Rocky Mount will be the guest evangelist. The Rev. Moore H. Bynum is pastor. The public is cordially invited. Revival Scheduled Here Warrenton Church of God will hold a revival Wednesday, April 18, through Sunday, April 22. The Rev. Billy W. Blackmon of St. Pauls will be the guest evangelist. Services begin at 7 p. m. each night. There will be special singing every night and the public is invited. Library To Be Closed Warren County Memorial Library will be closed April 21,22, and 23 for the Easter holiday. Barbecue, Stew Sale Set Churchill-Five Forks Volunteer Fire Department will hold a brunswick stew and barbecue sale Saturday, April 21, at the firehouse. The stew and barbecue will be ready by 11 a. m. Bake Sale Is Planned The Churchill-Five Forks Volunteer Fire Depart ment will hold a bake sale Friday, April 20, at Sears in Warrenton beginning at 8:30 a. m. Plate lunches will be available also. Women To Sell Goodies Warrenton Woman's Club will hold a bake sale at Leggett's Department Store in Warrenton Friday, April 20, from 9 a. m. until 2 p. m. Cakes, pies, cookies and other goodies will be sold. Hunter's Day Scheduled The Warren County dog warden will hold Hunter's Day for dog vaccinations Saturday, April 21, from 1 until 5 p. m. To make an appointment for the war den to vaccinate the dog at your pen, call 257-2711 or 257-3096. Good Friday Service Set Vaughan Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday worship service at 7:30 p. m. April 20. Communion will be served. Sunday School will be held at 10 a. m. on Easter Sunday, with worship to follow at 11 a. m. The Rev. Gary Patrick is pastor. Oine Club To Sell Stew The Oine 4-H Club will sponsor a stew sale on Saturday, April 28, at the Patillo residence in the Oine community. Stew will be ready by 2 p. m. Cost is $3 a quart. Communion Service Set Norlina United Methodist Church will hold Maun dy Thursday Holy Communion at 7:30 p. m. tomorrow. Jerusalem and Zion United Methodist Church will also participate in the service in Norlina. The Rev. Verne Womack will bring the message. Sunrise Service Slated An Easter sunrise service will be held Sunday at 6:30 a. m. at Warren Dale Cemetery in Norlina. The meditation will be given by the Rev. Jack Little, pastor of Norlina Baptist Church. In the event of rain, the service will be held at Norlina Baptist Church. The public is cordially invited to attend. Musical Program is Set A special program of music will be presented this Sunday during the 11 a. m. worship service at V/esley Memorial United Methodist Church. Works by Gounod, Handel, Speaks and Grosvenor will be presented by the chancel choir. The youth choir will perform selections from "Celebrate Life" by Buryl Red. The public is cordially invited to attend. Social Club To Gather Norlina Senior Citizens Social Club will have its next meeting at Warren Plains Baptist Church Thursday, April 26, at 2 p. m. Spring Revival Is Planned Weavers Chapel United Methodist Church's spring revival Episcopalians Set Services Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Warrenton has announced the following schedule for Holy Week and Easter Sunday: Maundy Thursday, 7:15 p. m., Holy Com munion at Emmanuel Church. Good Friday, noon to 1 p. m., meditation at Emmanuel Church. Easter Sunday, 9 a. m., Holy Communion at All Saints Church; 11 a. m., Holy Communion at Emmanuel Church. Special Service Is Scheduled Women's Day ser vices will be held at Ashley Grove Baptist Chureh on April 22 at H a.m. Memorial tributes will be given for the deceased mothers and honor will be given to the living mothers of the church. The public is invited to join in the church's "living tribute." The guest speaker will be Mrs. Ruby B. Faul con of Littleton. Guest musicians will be the Sisters of Zion of Ridge way and the Ashley Grove choirs. The pastor is the Rev. Roosevelt Askew. Meeting Slated By Brotherhood The Brotherhood of North Warrenton Bap tist Church met Sun day, April 15, with the ladies of the church for a breakfast in the fellowship hall. At 2 p. m., church members enjoyed a gospel sing. Revival services began Sunday evening and will continue through Wednesday (today). The Rev. Johnny Henderson of Statesville is the guest evangelist. will begin on Monday, April 23, with the Rev. David Fischler, a form er Jew who is now a United Methodist minister, bringing the message. Mrs. Dottie Scott Pegram will play the piano for all the ser vices, which will begin at 8 p. m. The soloist for the Monday service will be Scott Sink, director of Camp Willow Run. On Tuesday, the evangelist will be the Rev. Emerson M. Thompson, pastor, First United Methodist Church, Roanoke Rapids. The choir of Bethlehem United Church of Christ will render special music for the service. On Wednesday, the evangelist will be the Rev. Thomas Sweeley, pastor of Littleton Unit ed Methodist Church. The Calvary United Methodist Chancel Choir will render special music for the service. On Thursday, the evangelist will be the Calvary Charge pastor, the Rev. Dubois Schutt and the visiting soloist will be Mrs. Pegram. Pre-Easter Services Set Snow Hill Baptist Church will hold pre Easter services April 18 20 at 7:30 each night. On Wednesday, April 18, the Rev. Robert Bur nette will be the guest speaker and music will be rendered by Jordan Hill Senior Choir. On Thursday, April 19, the Rev. Roy Green will be the guest speaker and music will be rendered by Vaughan Chapel Choir. On Friday, April 20, the Rev. George Dixon will be guest speaker and Snow Hill Senior Choir will render the music. Easter services will be held Sunday, April 22, at 7:00 a. m. followed Dy breakfast and an Easter egg hunt. The public is cordially invited to attend these services. The Thursday night ser vice will conclude the revival. At 6:30 p. m. each evening, there will be a snack supper served for secretaries and other workers who might find preparing a meal incon venient before the ser vices. Feel free to join the "working people." A cordial invitation is extended to all Littleton city church members and to members of all area churches of all denominations. Weekend Trip Set By Church Jerusalem Baptist Church of Rt. 2, Warren ton is sponsoring a weekend trip to Hilton Head Island, S. C. on May 18-20. a chartered Trailway bus will leave Warrenton at 11:15 Friday night, May 18, returning about mid night on Sunday, May 20. The group will attend the morning worship service at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Hilton Head on Sun day where the Rev. Ben jamin Williams is pastor. The Rev. Mr. Williams is a native of Warren County and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Williams of Warrenton. The Rev. Williams has been pastoring Mount Calvary for nine years. Saturday afternoon will include a tour and dinner with an overnight stay at Holiday Inn. A reception will also be given the group by Holiday Inn upon arrival. North Carolina's Fastest Qrowing Certified Livestock Auction Market Your Business Is Appreciated Garden Club Members Meet Mrs. Mary Jordan served as hostess for a recent meeting of the Town'N Country Garden flub, with Mrs. Sophese Hawkins presiding, and opening the session with the reading of the Club Collect. Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved, af ter which discussions began. The first order of business concerned the Norfolk Azalea Festival, with facts pertaining to' the trip presented by Mrs. Geneva Fitts, and discussed by the group A satisfactory decision was then made. A discussion followed pertinent to the visit to the Hundley Crysanthe mum Greenhouses in Norlina. All agreed that the visit had been very interesting, informa tive, and enjoyable. It was discovered that the growing of chrysan themums in a controlled environment requires work, expertise and joy in performing the ac tivity. Mr. and Mrs. Hundley explained in detail the factors involv ed in this enterprise, and each member was presented a single beautiful mum at the end of the tour. The group expressed thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Hun dley. Mrs. Hawkins report ed on the flower of the month, the sweet pea, which is one of the special flowers for the month of April. It belongs to the same family as the kind of pea that we eat. The flowers resemble miniature sun bonnets or butterflies, and originated as Italian wild flowers. may be dwarf, which grow only a few inches high, or climbing, which grow along strings or trellises. "The Gardener's Self Examination" ended the discussions, followed by the social hour, at which time refreshments were serv ed by the hostess. Eagles The largest known gather ing of bald eaglos takes place each fall in southeast Alaska when more than 3,000of them descend on a short stretch of the Chilkat River to snatch up its unusually late salmon run, National Geographic reports. Methodist Women Pay Visit To Inez Approximately 160 United Methodist women from the Raleigh District toured the Inez community of Warren County Monday as a part of their annual visit to historical places of interest. The visitors arrived at Shady Grove United Methodist Church early in the afternoon and were met by Mrs. Patsy Coleman and Charles Davis. They continued their tour with visits to Myr tle Lawn, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Williams; Cherry Hill, the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson and Edgar Thome; Lake o' the Woods, the home of Mrs. George W. Davis; and Shady Hill, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Williams, Jr. At Shady Hill, Mrs. Williams, president of Shady Grove United Methodist Women, gave an informal reception for the group. During the morning, the visitors were the guests of the Louisburg United Methodist Women and Louisburg College. In Louisburg, the women visited Green Hill, one of the 10 original Methodist shrines now listed in the National Register of Historic Homes. Green Hill is also where the first North Carolina Methodist Conference was held. Warrentonians parti cipating in the tour were: Miss Elizabeth Allen, Mrs. Scott Gard ner, Mrs. Howard Daniel, Mrs. Broadus Vernon, Mrs. J. T. Jenkins, Mrs. Rufus Jones, Mrs. Edward Hunter, Mrs. Fred Hurst, and Mrs. Howard Oakley. The women of the Raleigh District felt it especially appropriate to visit Green Hill this year, during the bicen tennial of Methodism. They also toured the President's Home at Louisburg College, which was also the home of Gov. Thomas W. Bickett; Person Place, now on the college cam pus, which was a joint restoration effort by the college and the Person Place Society; the Franklin Academy Building which is the oldest structure on campus; and the new Taft Building which is the newest structure on campus. The women also en joyed lunch at the college before leaving for Inez. The Raleigh District of Methodist Women is composed of churches in Franklin and Warren counties and a portion of Vance County.
