Those visitors arrived on campus on Tuesday afternoon, April 17, and remained for a day's visit on Wednesday. On Tuesday the staff entertained the visitors and cen tral office staff at a tea in the media center. Tuesday evening the visitors, staff, and guests joined with similar groups from John Graham Mid dle School for a banquet at Norlina Woman's club. Entertainment was provided by a faculty chorus from the two schools; Mrs. Glendora Powell, mid dle schools choral music teacher, directed. The purpose of all these special events was visitation for evaluation and recommendation for accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. W. W. Edmonds, chairman of the visiting committee, and other members, Ernest Bibby, Blondola Lucas, Ginger Miller, Catherine Poole, W. L. Rose, and T. N. Stephens, met with faculty members, staff members, and parents and visited classrooms to gather impressions of the school's program. A very valuable part of the day was a meeting with a student group. Results of the team's impressions and recommendations will be sent to the school in early May. The state SACS committee will vote on accreditation in the sum mer. After such a busy time the staff and students were looking forward to the long Easter break. Another event that is scheduled for the near-future is the PTA Mardi Gras festival on May 8. Many activities are planned including a costume parade and con test, a disco and dance contest, a Mardi Gras king and queen contest, a dunking booth, cake walk, country store, food, and a variety of games of chance. All games will award prizes, and contests will award cash prizes. Andy Park, WTVD weather forecaster, will be special guest at the festival.
