Retreat For Artists Is Planned At Lake retreat will be conduc retreat will be conduct ed June 22 to June 24 at the Group Camping Area at Satterwhite Point on Kerr Lake near Henderson. In the first workshop of its kind held locally, artists will be able to camp for the weekend or to participate as day students. This quartet from the Sir Walter Chorus will per form in an outdoor concert at historic Cherry Hill in the Inez community on Sunday at 4 p. m. The chorus of 45 male voices was formed in 1961 as the Raleigh Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and En couragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. Admission to the concert is $3 and those attending are urged to bring folding chairs, pillows or blanket for seating. Soft drinks will be available and those who would like to bring a picnic supper to enjoy after the concert are invited to do so. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the premises. Cherry Hill is located on Route 58, 11 miles south of Warrenton and seven miles north of Centerville. Nelsons Awarded Honor Second Annual Meet Is Held For Ladies Gospel Baptist Church recently held its Second Annual Ladies Seminar. More than 47 ladies were on hand to hear six guest speakers on different themes con cerning Christian women in today's world. Mrs. Cheryl Jarvis spoke on the problems and pressures on Christian women today; Mrs. Peggy Hester spoke on raising children in a Christian environment and hints on being a successful mother; Mrs. Kathy Norwood spoke on the working woman and set ting priorities; Mrs. Audrey Everette, who works with Concerned Women Of America, spoke on women's in volvement in govern ment and some of the issues that threaten the American family; Mrs. Vivian Wood spoke on the ministry of women in the church citing several examples from both the Old and New Testaments. Mrs. Sharon Roy spoke on Vaudeville Revue Set Lakeland Arts Center in Littleton will open its Roaring 20's Vaudeville Revue on June 15. This revue will run for only four performances, June 15,16,22 and 23. The cast features some of Lakeland's most outstanding talent, including Cheryl Sebrell, Melinda Hux, Jennifer Smiley Pitt man, St$rr Abbott, Janice Ingledo, Wrenn Phillips, Michael Smith, Greg Daughtry, Marvin Bobbitt and Ray Newlin. Dwight Berry is musical director and Mark Taylor is director. The revue will feature songs and comedy skits from the early 1900's. Some of the songs in clude, "Jeepers Creep ers," "Five Foot Two," "Ain't She Sweet," "Sweet Georgia Brown," "Toot, Toot, Tootsie," "Bye Bye Blackbird," and "I'm Sitting On Top Of The World." The course of study in cluded appraising, financing, tax planning and real estate law. The Nelsons, whose agency is located in Lit tleton, are the first ac tive real estate agents on Lake Gaston to receive the GRI ac creditation. Nutrition Level The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) is not the minimum amount of nutri ents required each day. The levels are well above the mini mum. Consuming 80 per cent of the RDA of all nutri ents is usually adequate for good nutrition among healthy individuals. Class Of 1951 Has «■ Meet At Middleburg Members of the Nor lina High School Class of 1951 met for a reunion May 26 at Middleburg Steak House. Gifts were presented to L H. White tot having the largest family (in cluding the newest addi tion of 12 pups), Pattie Lee Rooker Callihan for having traveled the far thest distance for the reunion and to Herman and Lillian Brauer for having the most grand children (four). Of all the classmates present, none had more than three children. A beautiful cake made by (Catherine StaUings of Norlina in the class colors of blue and white was cut into 12 portions for each class member to take home. Those in attendance were Ricky Benton and wife, Elizabeth of Aiken, S. Three red carnations were added to a flower arrangement of white mums in memory of deceased members Martha Macon of Mary land, Tommy Felts of Fairfax, Va., and Pete Limer of Galax, Va. The arrangement was presented to Mrs. Bessie Hicks in appreciation of her efforts on behalf of the class through the years. The group closed the reunion by joining in The Lord's Prayer.
