By KIM FULLER On May 17-19 the academically gifted students of John Graham, Norlina Middle School, and Warren County High School went to Washington, D.C. on an educational field trip. The trip included visits to such famous landmarks and memorials as the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Lincoln and Iwo Jima memorials. The students also enjoyed seeing the Senate in session, an extremely educational experience. They toured other national landmarks, including the Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Federal Bureau of Printing and Engraving. The highlight of the trip for the students was going to the top of the bell tower in the Pavillion, a shop and office in the restored Old Post Office Building, and viewing the Washington skyline. Various clubs are involved in this trip. The students will be travelling to this amusement park on two charter buses. We hope everyone has a good time. Friday, June 1st, our eighth-grade students will pay a visit to Warren County High School. They will try to become a little more acquainted with the school and some of the ninth grade teachers. WHY IS IT? A man wakes up in the morning after sleeping on an advertised bed, in advertised pajamas. He will bathe in an advertised tub, wash with advertised soap, shave with an advertised razor, have a breakfast of advertised juice, cereal and toast (toasted in an ad vertised toaster), put on-advertised clothes and glance at his advertised watch. He will ride to work in his advertised car, sit at an advertised desk, smoke advertised cigarettes and write with an advertised pen. Yet this man hesitates to advertise, saying that adver ting does not pay. Finally, when his unadvertised business goes under, he will advertise it for sale. But then it's too late! ri tttye Uarren lecorii
