Mrs. Ann Spence of Warrenton and Mrs. Myrtle Fleming of Norlina attended the wedding of Mrs. Fleming's grandson, Jerry Gettings, to Miss Cindy L. Stover at Ivey Memorial Methodist Church in Chester, Va. on Sunday. Gettings is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Gettings of Chester. III. son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perry Ellington, Jr., also of Manson were united in marriage Saturday in a double ring ceremony at Mount Auburn United Church of Christ in Manson. The bride is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Washington Tucker of Palmer Springs, Va. and Mrs. Churchwell Brown Cur tis of Manson. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Richard Duke Buchan of Henderson and Charles Perry Ellington of Manson. The Rev. Lowell Smoot, pastor of the church, officiated. A program of nuptial music was presented by Charles Gaston Currin of Chapel Hill, organist, and Martha Faith McLellan of Winston Salem, soloist. Mrs. Aubrey Newton Blanks, aunt of the groom, of Raleigh and Mrs. Joseph Duke Mabry, Jr., of Hender son served as directors. Mrs. Palmer Wood King, Jr., of Norlina presided at the guest register. The bride, escorted by her father, was given in marriage by her par ents. She wore a formal gown of silk organza in ivory enhanced with Alencon and Venice lace. The sheer yoke was English net with a motif of matching lace below the neckline and covering the bodice in front and back. The Watteau train of English net flowed into a chapel length train. The shoulder-length veil had a Juliet cap covered with Brussels lace with a design of matching lace below the cap. Wide borders of Brussels lace bordered the hem. Miss Edith Rose Cur tis of Raleigh was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. William Glenn Cole man, III, sister of the bride, of Inez, Mrs. Clif ton Randall Curtis, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Allison Stuart White of Chapel Hill. Miss Mary Randall Curtis, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Richard Mark Elling ton of Chapel Hill and Alan Nicholas Ellington, brothers of the groom, Clifton Randall Curtis, brother of the bride, Marshall Alton Fleming of Chapel Hill and Scott Reavis Phillips of Win ston-Salem. Master Trenton Grissom, cousin of the groom, was the ring bearer. The bride graduated from Norlina High School, Peace College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is em ployed with Arista Infor mation Systems, Inc. in Winston-Salem. The groom graduated from Norlina High School and the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently attending Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. After a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple will reside in Winston Salem. Af ter the cutting of the traditional first slice, Mrs. Richard Duke Buchan, Jr., aunt of the groom, served the wed ding cake. After-Rehearsal Dinner The Ellington-Curtis wedding party was en tertained at an after rehearsal dinner May 25 given by the parents of the groom and Mrs. Richard Duke Buchan, grandmother of the groom at Norlina Woman's Club on Friday evening. Miser llaneoua Showers On Sunday, April 15, Mission Group Gathers The Lola Sue Mission Action Group of Norlina Baptist Church met Monday morning in the home of Mrs. Lottie Nance. In the absence of Mrs. Sadie Mustian, Mrs. Nita Fuller presided. She called the meeting to order with scripture from Colossians follow ed with prayer. Minutes were read and it was noted that nine members and one visitor, Mrs. Harriet Faulkner, general director of Woman's Missionary Society, were present. The sick and cheer report was given by chairwoman, Miss Ber tha Bishop. She reported on those remembered on Easter and also cards sent during the month. The calendar of prayer was given at the close of the program and Miss Bishop led the prayer for the missionaries having birthdays. Baptist Circle Has Gathering The Annie Armstrong Circle of Norlina Baptist Church met in Littleton with Mrs. Sarah Parham on Monday night. Mrs. Forest Setzer called the meeting to order. Mrs. Ira Weaver lead the opening prayer and Mrs. Setzer read scrip ture from the book of Hebrews. The program chair man, Mrs. Ann Mulchi, introduced Mrs. Mary Pat McGhee of Warren ton who presented an in teresting program Qn Commitments. The Norlina High Grads Have 51 st Meeting By SADIE YANCEY Nor Una High School graduates of the Class of 1933 met in the home of Mrs. Martha Huff, May 25 at 6 p. m. for reunion marking the 51st an niversary of their graduation. The class was served a delicious buffet meal. The table was lovely with a handsome white linen cutwork tablecloth with a centerpiece of roses grown by the husband of one of the class members. program closed with all praying in unison.
