Fourteen students from Warren County High School were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony at the school on Monday. Members were selected by a faculty council for their high standards of scholarship, service, leader ship and character. Those inducted in the school's first ceremony are shown above (left to right, back GiLEND¥ Auxiliary Will Meet American Legion Auxiliary will meet Thursday, June 7, at 8 p. m. in the home of Mrs. Ruth Diamond. Installation of officers will take place at this time. All members are urged to attend. Attendance Is Sought Anyone interested in participating in the Warren County Arthritis Support Group should call {Catherine Hiliiard at the Warren County Health Department at 257-1185. The group is open to those who suffer from arthritis as well as to their family and friends. Measurement Course Set The first of a four-part course on taking blood pressure measurements will be offered tonight (Wednesday) at the Warren County Health Depart ment of Ridgeway Street in Warrenton. The class, conducted by the American Red Cross, will begin promptly at 7 p! m. For more information, call Katherine Hiliiard at 257-1185. Lioness To Have Sale The Lioness club will sponsor a yard sale Satur day, June 9, from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. in front of the Lion's Den. Stew Sale Is Planned Norlina Chapter 158 of the Order of the Eastern Star will sponsor a stew sale on Saturday, June 9, beginning at 11 a. m. at Norlina Woman's Club. Cost is $3 a quart and customers are requested to bring their own containers. Youth Day Is Slated Youth Day will be observed at Locust Grove Bap tist Church Sunday, June 10, at 11:30 a. m. Charlie Twitty of Raleigh will be the guest speaker. Musical Group To Appear - The Believers, a musical group from Richmond, Va., with Julia Mae Peoples as pianist, will perform in concert at North Warrenton Baptist Church on Saturday, June 9, at 7:30 p. m. and Sunday, June 10, at 11 a. m. The public is invited. Special Day Is Scheduled Relatives and Friends Day will be observed Sun day, June 10, at 3 p.m. at Ashley Grove Baptist Church in Vaughan, Elder Curtis Clanton, assist ant pastor of Christian Community Church of God in Baltimore, Md. will be the guest speaker. Music will be rendered by the church choir. The public is cor dially invited. Tea, Fashion Show Set The Warren County Girl Scouts will hold their second annual Tea and Fashion Show on Sunday, June 10, at the Warren County High School, begin ning at 4 p. m. Refreshments will be served and admission is $1 for adults and children over 12. Applications Sought The Creative Learning Center of Warren County is now taking applications for enrollment for the 1984-85 school year. For further information, con tact Mrs. S. C. Celebration Scheduled Warren County Friends of Black Children Com munity Council will have a pot luck celebration at its regularly scheduled monthly recruitment meeting on Monday, June 11, at Warren County Community Center on Franklin Street in Warren ton. All council members and other persons in terested in adoption or foster care are invited to at tend. Men's Day Is Slated Jerusalem Baptist Church of Warrenton will ob serve Men s Day on Sunday, June 10, beginning at 11:30 a. m. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Haywood Foster, Sr. of Henderson. Music will be rendered by Perry's Chapel All-Male Chorus of Centervllle with solos by Jessie Davis and William A. Adams of Henderson. (Community Schools Photo) Homecoming Is Slated At Inez Baptist Church Inez Baptist Church will observe its annual homecoming on Sunday, June 10. The 11 a. m. service will be conduct ed by the Rev. Rix Mustian, after which dinner will be served on the church grounds. Former members and friends are invited to join the congregation for the occasion. Homecoming services will also mark the beginning of the annual revival which will con tinue through Wednes day with services at 8 each night. The Rev. Mr. Mustian will speak on "A New Covenant" Sunday at 11 a. m. and on "The Im portance of Rededica tion" Sunday at 8 p. m. Topics for services Monday through Wed International Look Is Seen The Warrenton Chap ter of Les Gemmes pre sented an International Tea and Fashion Show at Warren County High School on Sunday, May 20. The master of ceremonies was Larry D. Williams and Magnolia Williams was chairperson of the event. The welcome was given by President Bar bara Rowlett after which the countries were presented by Ruth H.Wilson. The countries and those participating in the program were: France, Barbara Rowlette and Carole Wilkerson; Italy, Connie Kenney and Clara Foster; the United King dom, Doris Davis and Mildred Townes; the Orient, Faye Cathcart and Wanda Hunt; Egypt, Magnolia Wil liams and Mary D. Wil liams; Scandinavia, Ruth Wilson and Sella Johnson; the United States, Maggie Kiah and Elizabeth Baskerville; Pakistan, Indian, Cora Hawkins, Mary H. Powell and Mary M. Jordan; Switzerland, Christine Arlington and Ruby D. Amos. Models were Michelle Alston, Tony Davis, Heather and Jasmine Kenney, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Paylor, Erica Silver, Derrick Townes, Angela Townes, Bever ly Tunstall, Anna Williams, Wilhemina Kearney, Gayle Newsome, and Andrea Noel Richardson. Dr. John Carlton will be the guest minister Sunday, June 10, at Warrenton Baptist Church in a service honoring the high school and college graduates of 1984. Dr. Carlton, professor of preaching at South eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, served as interim pastor of the church from 1981 to 1982. High school graduates from Warren County High School to be honored are: Lisa Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Robinson; Robin Soper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Pinnell and Sherry Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wilson. Two graduates from Atlantic Christian College, Pam Currie and George Currie of Norlina, will also be honored. The Curries are the children of the Rev. and Mrs. Tom Currie of Norlina. The graduates will receive books on Christ ian living as a token of the church's appreci ation for their accom plishments in education, according to the Rev. Dr. Gary E. Parker, pastor of the church. Over 6 Inches Of Rain Falls More than six inches of rain fell in Warren County during the last week in May capping off a total rainfall for the month of 9.23 inches, ac cording to Clarence R. Skillman, cooperative observer with the U. S. Weather Service at Ar eola. Almost 4 inches of that rainfall occurred on May 30 and nine days during the month saw rainfall of .01 inch or above. Temperatures for the month were above nor mal for this time of the year, Skillman repor ted, with a high of 88 on May 21. Temperatures soared to 80 degrees or above on 12 days. A temperature low of 39 degrees was recorded on May 15 and 28, and hail was recorded on Mays.
