Bench, won two blue ribbons in the Rocky Mount
Hone Show held Sunday. Miss Knight placed first in
the Five-Gaited Pleasure Class in which she rode
Johnny Bench. She will show Johnny Bench in the
World Championship Show in Louisville, Ky. She
also won a first place ribbon with her horse, Mr.
Rux. Rachel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan
Knight of Rocky Mount and granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Daniel Knight of Norlina and Mrs.
Blanche Pittard of Warrenton.
Shearin Promoted

promoted W. Wilson
Shearin, Jr., to assistant
vice president and
transferred him to the
bank's Manteo office.
Wilson began his
banking career in 1974.
He joined Planters'
Raleigh office in 1980 as
assistant cashier and
manager of the bank's
Cameron Village office.
In his new position,
Shearin will serve as
commercial loan officer
in Manteo's Commer
cial Loan Department.
A native of Norlina,
Wilson is a 1973
graduate of the Univer
sity of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill with a
Bachelor of Arts in
American Studies.
Wilson has been a
member of the Raleigh
Civitan Club, serving on
various committees. He
