G1LEND4R Lightfoot Trip Planned Warren ton Junior Woman's Club will sponsor a bus trip to Lightfoot, Va. on Saturday, Oct 20. Cost per person is $13. For further information, contact Bonnie Andrews at 257-1172, days, and 2574078 after 8p.m. Dr. Taylor Will Speak Dr. R. H. Taylor, chaplain at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, will be the guest speaker at Reedy Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 11 a. m. The public is invited. Anniversary Service Set The Macon United Methodist Church will celebrate its 110th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 11 a. m. The Rev. Hubbard will be the speaker. Following the service, there will be luncheon on the grounds at noon. All members, former members, and friends are invited. Benefit Program Slated Warren County Rescue Squad will hold its 14th Annual Benefit Program Sunday, Sept 23, at 2 p. m. at Mclver School Gymnasium in Littleton. A donation of $1.50 will be collected for tickets in ad vance and $2.00 at the door. For children, the donation is 50 cents. The program features several musical groups. Master of ceremonies will be Roger Wiggins of Station WCPS in Tarboro and mis tress of ceremonies will be Betty Bennett. Prizes will be given. Stew Sale Is Scheduled A stew sale will be sponsored by Warren Academy at Zion United Methodist Church in Oine Saturday, Sept. 22. Stew will sell for $3 a quart and will be ready at noon. Tribal Meet Postponed The Haliwa-Saponi Tribal meeting has been post poned from Sept. 14 to Sept. 21 at 7:30 p. m. at the Haliwa School. A mini-powwow will follow begin ning at 8:30. Republicans To Gather There will be a Republican county meeting at the Courthouse on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p. m. All Republicans and those interested in Republican candidates are invited to.attend. A search commit tee to seek candidates for the next election and a finance committee will be appointed. Guest Speaker Announced The Rev. Luther G. Brown, pastor of Coley Springs Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker at the 11 a. m. service Sunday, Sept. 23, at Shiloh Bap tist Church in Henderson. The Rev. Roland W. Perry is pastor. Special Service Planned Coley Springs Baptist Church in Afton will celebrate the ninth anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Luther G. Brown, at 5 p. m. on Sunday, Sect. 23. The public is invited to attend. Tribal Powwow Scheduled A Haliwa-Saponi tribal powwow will be one of the events of the Currituck Jubilee on Saturday, Sep tember 22, at the Currituck High School in Barco. The Jubilee hours are from 10 a. m. until 8 p. m., and the powwow is scheduled from 12:30-3:30 p. m. (Staff Photo) Vacancies Remain For Trip The Coordinating Council for Senior Citizens of Warren County has a few remaining vacancies for the trip to Orlando, Fla. The trip will include round trip transporta tion provided by T & D Tours, one night in St. Augustine and three nights in Orlando, tickets to Epcot and tickets to Silver Spring. The bus will leave from in front of the Community Center on Franklin Street in Warrenton at 7 a. m. on Oct. 8. Return will be on Oct. 12. Hurry and make your reservations as space is limited. Turn on the heater to see if the blower func tions properly at all set tings; remove bugs and trash in the fins of the radiator; check for hose leaks and wear; replace the coolant if it has not been changed in over two I*™" J School Retirees Meet At 'Flame' The Warren County Unit of North Carolina Retired School Person nel met Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 2 p. m. in "The Flame" on Frank lin Street in Warrenton. Mrs. Mary D. Williams, president, presided. Mrs. Ludie Green, district chair man, presented the program. She announced that the district meeting will be held Oct. 12 at K&W Cafeteria in Raleigh. Dr. Jean Cosby will be the guest speaker. She also suggested that a memorial service should be conducted when a non-member of the unit dies and that a handbook for the local unit would be helpful and urged members to recruit new members. Any non-member who retires from out-of-state may become a member of the State Retired School Personnel if they were a member of the National Education Association in the state from which he or she retired. Mrs. Green also reminded the group that state officers of the association will visit the local units free of charge. The routine business was disposed of and reports were given by scholarship committee and the representative who attended the workshop in Williams ton recently. The scholarship was awarded to Eva G. Wilson who planned to attend St. Augustine's College in Raleigh. Refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 16 at 1 p. m.
