Warren County, Area Deaths And Funerals , ALVIN C. KEMPSON Funeral services for Command Sgt. Maj. Alvin Coil Kempson, 64, were conducted on Wed nesday, Jan. 9, at Fort Benninfc, Ga. He was buried with full military honors. Command Sgt. Maj. Kempson died on Jan. 6 at his home at 3512 Crowell Drive, Colum bus, Ga. after two years of declining health. He graduated from Norlina High School and was a veteran of World War II. He was a mem ber of the 82nd Airborne Division and a recipient of the Silver Star, Pur ple Heart, Combat bravery medal, and a Presidential citation for bravery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lilo Kempson; a daughter, Miss Char lotte Kempson of the home; his stepmother, Mrs. Lettie D. Kempson of Norlina; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Sue Powell and Mrs. Carolyn K. Kinard, both of Charles ton, S. C.; three half brothers, T. K. Kemp son, of Henderson; Alvin A. Kempson of Charleston, S. C., and Luther L. Kempson of Cleveland, Ohio; and a half-sister, Mrs. Judy K. Haines of Las Vegas, Nev. COLONEL T.ALSTON Funeral services for Colonel T. Alston, 95, were conducted at 2 p. rn Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Halifax County by the Rev. James Jones. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Alston died Mon day, Jan. 14, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Louisburg. A retired farmer, he was born in Warren County, the son of the late Mason Alston and Peggy Hardy Alston. He was married to the late Nora Harrison Alston. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Alice Brown of Hollister, Mrs. Fannie Powell of Whita kers, Mrs. Cora Jenkins and Mrs. Eliza Evans of Newport News, Va., and Mrs. Lucy DeCoursey of Philadelphia, Pa.; three sons, James Otis Alston of Hollister, Henry Alston of Newport News, Va., and Colonel T. Alston, II of Durham; 41 grandchildren, 85 great - grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. JAMES BULLOCK, SR. Funeral services for James Bullock, Sr., 90, were conducted at 2 p. m. Saturday at Oak Level United Church of Christ in Drewry by the Rev. Leon White. Burial was in the Burchette Chapel United Church of Christ cemetery. Mr. Bullock died Monday, Jan. 14, at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson. He was a native of Vance County and was married to the late Leah H. Bullock. He was a retired farmer. Among the survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Sallie McWilliams of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Lillie Hardy of Everet te, Mass., and Mrs. Velma Jiggetts and Mrs. Theresa Jones of Paterson, N. J.; six sons, Leroy Bullock of Dumfries, Va., Melvin bullock of Alexandria, Va., Emanuel Bullock of Irvington, N. J., and Theodore Bullock, James Bullock, Jr., and Ulysses Bullock of Macon; 42 grand children; 37 great grandchildren and two great-great - grandchil dren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. PATTIE T. PARHAM Funeral services for Mrs. Pattie T. Parham, 90, were conducted at 1 p. m. Tuesday at Cooks Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. W. L. Barnes. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Parham died Friday at Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Va. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius Townes and Pattie Myrik Townes. She was married to the late Samuel Parham. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Margaret P. Labroi of Warrenton and Mrs. Annie P. Drake, Mrs. Fggie P. Burnette, and Mrs. Vernice P. Marrow of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, Clemon R. Parham of Warrenton, Prince E. Parham of Chesapeake, Va., and Samuel M. Parham of Baltimore, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and a number of great-grand children. CHARLIE SHAW Funeral services for Charlie Marts Shaw, 77. of Weldon, were con ducted at 2 p. m. Sunday at V eldoa United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles M. Cook. Burial was in the Cedar wood Cemetery in Weldon. Mr. Shaw died Friday morning at Halifax Memorial Hospital in Roanoke Rapids. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura Alice Shaw; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou S. Etheridge of Goldsboro and Mrs. Betty S. Bedsworth of Bethel; a sister, Mrs. Anna S. Thompson of Macon; a brother, Justice L. Shaw of Roanoke Rapids; two step-sisters, Mrs. Margaret S. Walker of Stokes and Mrs. Ann S. Lovings of St Louis, Mo.; a step-son, Julian H. Shaw of Roanoke Rapids; four grandchil dren; two great-grand children; six step grandchildren and three step - great - grandchil dren. MATTHEW 8HEAR1N Funeral serricea for Matthew Shearin, 70, of Philadelphia, Pa., were conducted at 1:90 p. m. Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Macon. Burial waa in the church cemetery. Mr. Shearin died last Thursday in Philadel phia, Pa. He was born in Warren County, the son of the late George Shearin and Rena T. Shearin. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hattie John son Shearin of Phila delphia, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Brown of Vaughan and Mrs. Fannie Vaughan of New York, N. Y.; and two brothers, Johnnie J. Shearin of Warrenton and Mark Shearin of Norfolk, Va. ADDIE L. PLUMMER Funeral services for Mrs. Addie Lee Pluxn mer, 90, of Pleasant viile, N. J., were con ducted at 1 p. m. Mon day at Cook's Chapel Baptist Church in Warren Plains by the Rev. Robert Burnette and the Rev. W. L. Bar nes. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Plummer died Monday, Jan. 14, in Pleasantville, N. J. She was born in Durham, the daughter of the late Edward Moss and Sallie Moss. She was married to the late Junius Plummer. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Sallie Boyd of Williamstown, N. J., and Mrs. Susie Moses and Mrs. Lucy Harris of Atlantic City, N. J.; fou: sons, Edward Plummer and Thomas Plummer of Atlantic City, N. J., Nathaniel Plummer of Jamaica, N. Y., and James E. Plummer of Pleasant ville, N. J.; 24 grand children; and 19 great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. WILLIE THOMPSON Funerai services for Willie McKinley Thomp son, 88, of Warren Plaza Nursing Home, were conducted at 2 p. m Monday at Robinson's Funeral Home Chapel in Littleton by the Rev. C. E. C. at 3 p. m. Sunday. Mr. Hair died Thurs day at Warren Nursing Center. Prior to his re tirement, he was an educator in South Carolina and had served as a superintendent of schools in that state. Aaron, 74, of Littleton were con ducted at 2 p. m. Thurs day at Mr. Olive Baptist Church in Littleton by the Rev. J. S. Spruill. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Aaron died Saturday at her home.
