Judge Wilkinson Presides Over Session Of Warren District Court Judge C. W. Wilkin son, Jr. of Oxford presided over the May 8 ed over the May 8 session of Warren Coun ty District Court, dispos ing of the following cases: John Adams, speeding 75 in 56 mph rone, enter ed a plea of guilty of speeding 65 in 56 mph zone, ordered to pay a $10 fine and court costs. Bonnie Addabbo, driving while impaired, not guilty. Mattie Anderson, communicating threats, damage to real proper ty, and assault with a deadly weapon, dismiss ed by the prosecutor. James Curtis Basker ville, driving while im paired, not guilty. Marion L. Baxter, simple possession of marijuana, speeding 89 in 55 mph zone, and im proper passing, Order to Show Cause to be issued if defendant found not in compliance. William Bottoms, violation of court order, defendant appeared to be in compliance and Order to Show Cause dismissed. Dallas Bullock, viola tion of court order, defendant appeared to be in compliance and Order to Show Cause dismissed. Ronald Cook, assault and battery, dismissed by the prosecutor. John Earl Davis, no driver's license and operating a motor vehicle without finan cial responsibility, or derd to jail for 60 days, sentence suspended for two years upon condi tion that the defendant pay a $100 fine and court costs, reimburse the State $100 for attorney fees, and not operate a motor vehicle on the highways of N. C. until allowed by the Depart ment of Motor Vehicles; driving while impaired, no probable cause found. Daniel Patrick Ellis, speeding 68 in 55 mph zone, called and failed, arrest order issued, bone set at $200. Alton Evans, Jr., speeding 67 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Robert Lewis Evans, driving while impaired, ordered to jail for 60 days, sentence suspend ed for one year upon condition that the defendant surrender license and not operate a motor vehicle on the highways of N. C. except as allowed in a limited driving privilege, per form 24 hours com munity service and pay the $50 fee, complete the Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School and pay the $50 fee, and pay a $100 fine and court costs; carrying a concealed weapon, not guilty. William H. Evans, driving while impaired, ordered to jail for 60 days, sentence suspend ed for one year upon condition that the defen dant not operate a motor vehicle on the highways of N. C. for one year and 30 days, and pay a $200 fine and court costs. Johnnie Francis, as sault on a female and communicating threats, dismissed by the prose cutor. James Maynard Fulp, expired registration card/tag, called and failed, dismissed with leave by the prosecutor. Kathy A. Harris, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Eddie Sam Jiggetts, operating a motor vehicle without finan cial responsibility and no registration for vehi cle, dismissed by the prosecutor. Clarence E. Johnson, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone and driving while license revoked, called and failed, order of for feiture issued, set for judgment absolute on bond. Boyd Anthony Jordan, speeding 69 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. James Jordan, Jr., improper passing, called and failed, arrest order issued, bond set at S200. Pierre Lambson, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed, arrest order issued, bond set at $200. Billy Herman Massey, II, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Chery Mcllvene, speeding 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Martin Napolean Neal, speeding 65 in 55 mph zone, found guilty of speeding 60 in 55 mph zone, ordered to pay $10 and court costs. Rendell Neal, en dangering reckless driving, ordered to pay a $35 fine and court costs. Bobby Robinson, xiriving while impaired, not guilty. Eric Andrew Scott, speeding 76 in 55 mph zone, called and failed, dismissed with leave by the prosecutor. Walter Spruill, in toxicated and disrup tive, Order to Show Cause to be issued if de fendant found not in compliance. Elvis Lewis Terry, simple possession of marijuana, dismissed by the prosecutor; driving while license revoked, ordered to jail for six months, sentence suspended and defen dant placed on super vised probation for three years upon con dition that he not operate a motor vehicle on the highways of N. C. until allowed by the De partment of Motor Vehicles, pay a $200 fine ana court costs, and re imburse the State $150 for attorney fees; driv ing while impaired, not guilty. Charles Vickery, speeding 68 in 55 mph zone and expired regis tration card/tag, called and failed, dismissed with leave by the prosecutor. Andre V. Walton, no driver's license, called and failed, arrest order issued, bond set at $200. 40 MPH Runner Ostriches, some of them weighing up to 300 pounds, can maintain a speed of 40 miles per hour for 15 to 20 minutes. (Staff Photo) League Play Begins At Armory Field The 1985 Warren Coun ty Recreation Youth Baseball League began play Saturday at the Ar mory Field. Two games were played in the Junior Baseball League. Capps Pulpwood whipped Lake Gaston Pier Builders 26-4 in the first game with Tar Heel Tire running away in the second tilt to blast the Jaycees 20-5. Capps Pulpwood came into this one with their hitting and running shoes on. They banged out 24 hits in the four innings to score the 26 runs. Yar borough Williams, Walter Southerland, and Daniel Green ripped four apiece, while Trevor Seward, Trevis Seward and Adrian Moseley had three each. The training consisted of 16 hours of classes on firefighting strategy and tactics, with Donald McKentyre of Alamance County as the instruc tor. Members attending from the Warrenton department were Frank Jones, James Solomon, Eugene Davis, Sherman Johnson, Merldon Cooper, Clinton Davis, Van King, Jamas Ar lington, Earlie Garner and Chief Leon Cheek. and Anthony Sledge. In the second game, the Jaycees got on the scoreboard first with three runs in the first in ning. Tar Heel Tire bounced back with nine runs in the second and put the game on ice with 11 runs in the fourth. Bobby Hayes, Roy Robertson, Tionne Har rison, Clemon Kearney, Derrick Kearney, Mark Carroll, and Ferando Harrison all had one hit apiece for the winners. Antonio Davis had two hits and Steven Jones had one hit for the losers. The Pee Wee League, in its first year, played two games Saturday. In the first tilt, the Rotary ripped Owen Il linois 16-0 and in the se cond contest, the Rotary ripped Carriage Fuel & Oil Co. 18-17. The Rotary scored in every inning to win its first game. Mark Perkin son had four hits follow ed by Alvin Shearin and Chris Whaley with two hits each for the Rotary. Kevin Carter and Bran don Rooker had one hit each for the losers. In the second game, the Rotary scored the winning run in the last in ning to win its second game. Leading hitters for the Rotary were Mark Perkinson, Alvin Shearin, Munsrail Baskerville, and Chris White with three hits each, followed by Richard Baskervill with two hits. Michael Riggan had three hits while David Harrison and Lee Leonard collected two each for Carriage Fuel & Oil. Three T-Ball Games Played On Saturday T-Ball play began Saturday with three games being played. In the first game, Peoples Bank defeated Village Pharmacy 32-22, follow ed by Junior Woman's Club 29-28 win over High Dollar Warehouse. Citizens Insurance rip ped the Lions 26-15. Vincent Johnson went five-for-five and Holt Smiley had two hits for People's Bank. Rhonda Long banged out three hits and Carlos Bullock collected two for Village Pharmacy. Junior Woman's Club collected its first win ever, after going winless in its past season. Thomas Boyd and Kimeko Kearney stroked three hits each for the winners. Mary Coleman had two hits for the losers. Citizens Insurance scored big in every inn ing enroute to its win. Dominque Williams stroked three hits for the winners, while Nathaniel Rooker, Wendell Hargrove, Anthony Mar tin, Joey Ross, and Ryan Coleman had two hits each. Demont Williams had three hits and La mont Bullock had two for the losers.
