Burwell, and Capt. Burwell. While here they attended the Cribbage Tournament in Raleigh with the Burwells and with the Herman Andersens. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Lambeth of Raleigh and Mrs. Maude Swann of Madison, were here last week for a visit with their cousins, Miss Loyce Blaylock and Dorman Blaylock. Col. and Mrs. J. T. Jenkins spent several days last week at their beach home at Emerald Isle. Their grandson, John Nelsonof Greenville, spent Sunday here with them. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Duke Miles and Mrs. Sara Miles Johnson Raleigh spent last week at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Birth Of Son Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. James J. Kearney, III, of Littleton announce the birth of a son, Allan Jordan, on August 6 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount. The infant weighed six pounds, 12 ounces. The mother is the former Laura Burrows of Warrenton. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Claude F. Burrows of Warrenton and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James J. Kearney, Jr. of Littleton. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Miller, Jr. of High Point announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Faith, to Larry Dean Thompson. The bride-elect graduated from Andrews High School and GardnerWebb College, where she earned a B.S. degree in management information systems and was elected homecoming queen. She is employed by Falk Fibers/DPSS in Greensboro. The prospective groom is the son of Glen Thompson of High Point and Peggy Thompson of Thomasville. He graduated from Andrews High School and was a cum laude graduate of Gardner-Webb College, receiving a B. A. degree in religion. Homecoming Set By Methodists The annual homecoming service for the Weavers Chapel United Methodist Church will be held at the church on Sunday, August 18, at 11 a. m. with a former pastor, the Rev. Arthur W. Winstead bringing the message. There will be special music by the chancel choir. New offering plates, a memorial gift by relatives of early members of the church, will be dedicated. Dinner will be served on the grounds and seating accommodations will be furnished for all guests. Member friends of other area churches are cordially invited to the service and dinner and to meet the new pastor, Arthur W. Warren, his wife, Rebecca, and their two children, Martha Allison and Marie Dale. A native of Alexander County, he is currently a student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he is working toward a Master of Divinity degree. The Rev. Mr. Pennell is a 1973 graduate of Alexander Central High School and he holds an Associate of Applied Science degree from Catawba Valley Technical College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory. He has served as associate pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Alexander County. Pennell, 30, is married to the former Susan Gabriel of Taylorsville. They have two daughters, seven-yearold Amy and two-yearold Natalie. The Pennells began their ministry and moved to Wise in July. Named Manager Warren County native Tommy Haithcock has been named sales manager and team captain for Simmons FordToyota, according to a recent announcement by the automobile dealership. Miss Harris Weds Ronnie Pernell A candlelight ceremony of beauty and simplicity was the setting for the exchange of marriage vows between Jeanette Harris of Louisburg and Ronnie Pernell of Warrenton on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Marshall Neathery of Rolesville officiated at the doublering ceremony held at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Britton Harris of Warrenton. A graduate of John Graham High School, she is employed by North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company in Raleigh. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry M. Pernell of Warrenton. A graduate of John Graham High School, he is employed by Nello L. Teer Company, Inc. of Raleigh. A program of nuptial music wu presented by Mrs. Pamela Thompson and Mrs. Margaret Pernellof Warrenton. Entering the church unattended, the bride was attired in a floorlength rose gown designed with teestraps, empire bodice and accordian-pleated skirt. A matching chantilly lace caplet featuring a crown collar and gathered yoke, accepted with tiny pink satin bows on the shoulders, complimented the dress. The bride chose to wear a pearl necklace, a gift from the groom, as her only accessory. Miss Marsha Pernell at Henderson, daughter of the groom, served as the bride's only attendant Preston Pernell of Henderson, son of the groom, served as his father's best man. Ushers were William Harris of Henderson, brother of the bride; Kenneth Pernell of Warrantor, brother of the groom; and Jay Carter of Warrenton, nephew of the bride. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Bonnie Munn of Warrenton. Miss Lori Buckner of Wendell and Miss Stephanie Vick of Henderson, nieces of the bride, assisted in registering the guests. Reception Immediately following the ceremony, the couple was entertained at a reception in the fellowship hall of the church. Guests were greeted by the couple along with their parents. Assisting with the reception were Mrs. Betsy Vick of Henderson, Mrs. Ruth Bnckner of Wendell, Mrs. tinda Carter of Warrenton, all sisters of the bride; and Mrs. Bonnie Munn, Mrs. Eleanor Fuller, and Mrs. Margaret Pernell, all of Warrenton. Following a wedding trip to the mountains in western North Carolina, the couple will make their home in Louisburg. Top Rotary Officer Sets Local Visit J. William (Bill) Stone, governor of District 771, Rotary International, will speak to the Warrenton Rotary Club on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The club meets at the Warrenton Lions Den at 6 p.m. Prior to the general meeting, Stone will confer with president George Perkinson, officers, and committee chairmen at 4 p.m. on the group's service activities for the Rotary year. There are 52 clubs in District 771, which covers a large part of eastern North Carolina. The Warrenton Club was founded on March 29,1945. Rotary International, with more than 21,000 clubs in some ISO countries, is an organization of business and professional men who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Stone, a graduate of Duke University, has been a Rotarian since 1962. He is secretarytreasurer of Stone's Southern School Supply Company, Raleigh.
