Recreation \ Report By DICKIE WILLIAMS Warren County Parks and Recreation Director Youth Basketball Registration is still continuing for all youth, ages 7-18, who are interested in playing youth basketball. Registration will run through Thursday, Dec. 5, during regular office hours, 8:30 a. m.-5 p. m. (M F). You may also register on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9-11 a.m. Age groups will be 7-9,10-12,13-15 and 10-18, and you must attend registration in order to play. For more information, call the recreation office at 257 2272. Youth coaches are needed for this program. Men's Basketball Meeting There will be an organizational meeting on Wed nesday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p. m. for those who are in terested in entering a team in the 1985-86 men's basketball league. The deadline for entering a team is Wednesday, Nov. 27. Please have a representative from your team present for this meeting at the Recreation Depart ment office at John Graham gym. Basketball Officials Meeting There will be a basketball officials meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p. m. at the Recreation Department office at John Graham gym. Anyone interested in officiating should attend this meeting. Serving as head coach for the class was Cathy Bray, Dsaaa Roope and Lisa Bialock. <( " Warren County, Area Deaths And Funerals JOHANNA H. BRAUER Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna Hecht Seaman Brauer, 97, will be conducted at 3 p. m. today (Wednesday) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ridgeway by the Rev. Douglas Rath Jen and the Rev. William Seaman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Brauer died Tuesday at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson. She was born in Warren County and was the daughter of the late Barbara Schw mer and Robert Hecht. She was the widow in turn of Arnold Seaman and J. C. Brauer. Mrs. Brauer had resided at Pine Haven Convalescent Home in Henderson for a number of years. Surviving are four sons, Albert Seaman and Herman Brauer of Ridgeway, Carl Seaman of Litchfield, Md. and Walter Seaman of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Rosebrock of Preston, Md. and Mrs. Elizabeth Nolde of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Chandler of Ridgeway; two half-sisters, Mrs. Ida Hueweler of Brook lyn, N. Y. and Mrs. Esther Freyley of Bronx, N. Y.; two half brothers, Walter Hecht of New Brunswick and Otto Hecht of New Bern; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Lester Brauer, Wayne Nolde, Edward Nolde, Johnny Brauer, William Brauer and Rick Brauer. STOVER W.VAUGHAN Funeral services for Stover Willis (Stovie) Vaughan, 82, of Warren ton, were conducted at 3 p. m. Saturday at Blay lock Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. W. P. Reabert. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Vaughan died Tuesday night, Nov. 12, in Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson. He was a native of Warren County and the son of the late Susan Nicholas and Richard Thomas Vaughan. He had been employed by the Town of Warren ton for more than 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hettie Crowder Defense Course Set At College The Criminal Justice Program at Vance Granville Community College will sponsor a protective measures course beginning Dec. 5 for interested adults. The 11-week course will be held Mondays and Wednesdays. Day courses will be taught from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and evening courses from 5:30 to 8 p.m. According to Tom Long, program head, the course will cover self defense measures based on martial arts. Instruc tion will include unarm ed self-defense against single opponents, multi ple opponents, and arm ed and unarmed oppo nents. Glen Yancey will serve as instructor. Persons interested in registering for the class should contact the VGCC business officed prior to December 4 for informa tion on registration or may call (919)492-3061, extension 367. Vaughan; a son, Douglas Vaughan of Henderson; a step daughter, Mrs. Betty Rooker of Warrenton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kenny Wheeler, Larry Wheeler, Alton Harp, Jr., Ralph Harp, Ricky Bolton, David Vaughan, Kevin Rooker and Charlie Pierce. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Town of Warrenton, Carey Dillard, Don Bolton, Travis Ormsby and E. B. Rideout, Jr. SUSAN WHITE Funeral services for Susan White, 20, former ly of Warrenton, were conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at First Presby terian Church in More head City with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery. Miss White, the daughter of former War renton dentist Dr. Walter White and Mrs. Rose H. White, both of Morehead City, was killed in an automobile accident Saturday. She was studying to be a dental technician. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Miss Grace White and Miss Mary Beth White, both of the home; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Hawk of Elizabeth City. NANNIE FELTS PASCHALL Graveside services for Nannie Felts Paschall, 80, of Wise were con ducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Wise Cemetery by the Rev. Earl Pennell. Mrs. Paschall, the widow of Walter J. Paschall, died Sunday at her residence. She was the daughter of William Henderson and Sarah Louise Felts. Surviving are two sons, W. C. (Skeeter) Paschall and Jack Paschall, Jr., both of Norlina; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Paschall Rivers of Wise and Mrs. Joyce Paschall Early of Cartersville, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Emily Felts Wilson of Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren and two great-grand children. Pallbearers were Julian Felts, Billy King, Bill King, Johnny Paynter, Earl Moseley, Jimmy Hawks, and Wilson Poteat. MILTON RICHARDSON Funeral services for Milton R. Richardson, 29, of Warrenton, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pine Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. William Evans. Burial was in the Lewis family cemetery. Mr. Richardson died Tuesday, Nov. 12, as the result of an automobile accident. He was the son of Lula and John Richardson of War renton. Surviving in addition to his parents are five sisters, Mrs. Pearlean Richardson, Mrs. Janet Richardson, Miss Sheila Richardson and Mrs. An drea Daniel, all of War renton, and Miss Aman da Richardson of the home; and two brothers, Arthur Richardson of the home and John Richard son, Jr. of Hollister.
