PRIDGEN Funeral serviceaior a brother and sister, Jesse Carlton Pridgen, 93, of Norlina, and Lucy Brooks Pridgen, 95, of a Louisburg nursing home and formerly of Inez, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Blaylock Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Bob Lowman and the Rev. Tom Currie. Burial was in the Pridgen family cemetery at Creek. Mr. Pridgen died Tuesday at his home in Norlina. He was a retired farmer and machinist. Miss Pridgen died Tuesday at Louisburg Nursing Home. She was a retired postmistress of Creek. Both were born in Warren County, the son and daughter of Wiley H. and Sally Davis Pridgen. Among the survivors of Mr. Pridgen are a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Lee McAuslan of Kim ball's Point; three sons, Hugh Pridgen, Carson Pridgen and Leon Pridgen, all of Norlina; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Survivors of both Jesse C. Pridgen and Lucy B. Pridgen are two brothers, Alton Pridgen of Inez and Forrest Pridgen of War renton; and a sister, Mrs. Susie Powell of Inez. Pallbearers were James White, Buck Schuster, G. P. Grissom, Thomas Holtzman, Clayton Mitchell, James Knight, F. M. Egerton and Bobby Bolton. Arrangements were by Blaylock Funeral Home of Warrenton. ROBERT L. GOODE Funeral services for Robert L. Goode, 75, of Staten Island, N.Y. and formerly of Warren County, will be conducted today (Wednes day! at St. Phillips Baptist Church in Staten Island by the Rev. William Epps. Burial will be in Fred Douglas Cemetery in Staten Island. Mr. Goode died Friday night at Veterans Hospital in New York. He was a native of Warren County. He served in the U.S. Navy dur ing World War II. Among the survivors are his wife, Mrs. Christine Goode; 11 children; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Crews of Warrenton and Mrs. Adleen Scott of Macon; a brother, Richard Goode of Baltimore, Md.; 42 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. PRESLEY Funeral services for Mrs. I^eonora Ransom Presley of Philadelphia, Pa. were con ducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Mrs. Presley died last Thursday. Among the survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Bertha R. Stephens of Fayetteville and Mrs. Annie Ruth Fortson of Inkster, Mich.; and a brother, Howard E. Ran som of Philadelphia. JAMES B. RUSSELL Funeral services for James B. Russell, 73, of Russell Union com munity, will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. from Bur chette Chapel United Methodist Church of Christ, with the Rev. R. D. Bullock, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Russell died Saturday at Veterans Administration Hos pital in Durham. A native of Warren County, he was the son of the late Boyd Russell, Sr. and Hattie W. Russell. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Erma C. Russell of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie King of Southfield, Mich., Mrs. Hattie R. Darden of Hampton, Va. and Mrs. Fannie Flowers of Fayette ville; and three brothers, Boyd Russell, Jr. of Manson, Desmond Russell of Newark, N. J., and Dr. Alfred Russell of Silver Spring, Md. The activity was part of a week long observance hosted by the college in celebra tion of National Vocational Education Week. Ap proximately 65 students from WCHS visited the campus to learn more about the college's voca tional training programs. WCHS Vocational Students Pay Vance-Granville Visit Vocational education students from Warren County High School were among the participants in special activities hosted by Vance-Granville Community Col lege during National Vocational Education Week, Feb. 9-15, ac cording to Vera Gatano, publici ty director for the college. Coordinated by Sam Parsons, VGCC vocational counselor recruiter, a series of demonstra tions were arranged in each of the college's vocational areas. In these educational settings, VGCC students demonstrated skills ac quired through a variety of oc cupational classes. At the same time, the visiting students learned the wide range of career choices offered through voca tional training, Ms. Gatano said. Parsons described the week long activities as a cooperative effort between the college and area public schools to advance and broaden knowledge about vocational education and its role in the economic vitality of the community and state. VGCC program areas which participated were automotive mechanics, cosmetology, elec trical installation, heating and air conditioning, light construction and welding. ABC Sales Figures Released Warren County's three ABC stores produced sales of $528,021 during the last six months of 1965, according to figures .quoted Mon day by Macon Wemyss, county ABC supervisor. The Warrenton store led in sales with $241,363, followed by by the Rev. Robert Burnett. Burial was in the Powell family cemetery. Mr. Powell died Feb. 14 in Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. A native of Warren County, he was the son of the late Jesse and Mary Alston Powell. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Orick Powell; two sons, Johnnie Herbert Powell and Tyrone Powell; a daughter, Sherita Lavada Powell; four sisters, Bertha Williams of Brooklyn, Patricia M. Upshaw of Washington, D.C., and Rebecca Williams and Virginia Faulkner of Macon; four brothers, Oliver Powell of Brooklyn, Cleveland Powell and Ceozie M. Powell of Washington and Curtis J. Powell of Macon. Pallbearers were Johnnie Williams, Preston Williams, II, Omega June, Jerry H. Spruill, Colby West and Herman Wil liams, Jr. Arrangements were by Harris Turner Funeral Home. Norlina with $189,434 and Lit tleton with $97,224. Of the total sales, $90,821 was disbursed to the state for taxes and the county received two separate amounts: $14,127, or three and one-half percent of the profit; and $8,879.88, or five cents per bottle. Wemyss noted that some of the funds will not be distributed un til the end of the fiscal year in June, including: five percent of the net profit to law enforcement; seven percent to rehabilitation; 15 percent of the net profit from the Warrenton store to the town of Warrenton; and 15 percent from the Norlina store to the town of Norlina. The Littleton store, Wemyss noted, is outside the town limits and surplus from that store, along with any amount over the working capital of the county ABC program, will go to the county at the end of the fiscal year.
