Funeral services for Jack J.
Davis, Sr., 78, of Rt. 2, Warren
ton, were held Monday at Coley
Springs Baptist Church by the
Rev. Donald J. Wess. Burial was
in the church cemetery.
He was the son of the late
James and Louvenia Foster
Davis. He died Friday morning at
his home.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Louvenia S. Davis of the
home; two daughters, Mrs.
Bessie Linder of Newark, N.J.
and Mrs. Joyce Edmonds of
Montclair, N.J.; three sons, Nor
val Davis of Jacksonville, Fla.,
Jack Davis, Jr. of Kinston and
Lloyd Davis of Newark, N.J.;
seven sisters, Mrs. Bessie Sneed,
Mrs. Eulah Mitchell, Miss Geor
gia Davis, Miss Blanche Davis,
Mrs. Martha Belo, Mrs. Mary
Love and Mrs. Jane Clements;
two brothers, Norval Davis and
James Davis; and three grand
children.

ALICE HAZEL TUCKER
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice
Hazel Tucker, 51, were held
Saturday, Nov. 8, at Locust
Grove Baptist Church by the Rev.
Robert Burnette. Burial was in
the church cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker was the daughter
of Willie and Elizabeth Jackson.
She was born Nov. 1, 1935 in
Blackridge, Va. She died Nov. 2,
1986 at Mount Vernon Hospital in
Alexandria, Va. following a pro
longed illness.
Survivors, in addition to her
parents, include: four sons, Sam
Beatty of Hempstead, N.Y., An
thony Tucker, David Tucker and
Danny Tucker, all of Brooklyn,
N.Y.; three daughters, Simone
Beatty, Loretta Tucker and Alice
Tucker, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.;
five sisters, Mrs. Olivia French of
Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Lillie Mae
Thomas of Alexandria, Va., Mrs.
Loretta Clark of Laurelton, N.Y.,
Ms. Christine Jackson of Alexan
dria, Va. and Ms. Helen Jackson
of Washington, D.C.; one brother,
Michael Jackson of Alexandria,
Va. and an aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. George P. Mushaw of
Wise.
Casket bearers were John
Thomas, Isaac Thomas, William
Thomas, James Thomas, Ronnie
Mushaw and Michael Jackson.

Funeral services for Mrs.
Rebecca Durham Jones will be
held tomorrow (Thursday) at
2:00 p.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist
Church by the Rev. J. B. Wilson.
Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was the daughter of
the late John and Lucy Parker
Jones. She was the widow of the
late James L. Jones and to this
union thirteen children were
born. Seven preceded her in
death. She died Sunday at her
home in Norlina.
Survivors include two daugh
ters, Mrs. Willie M. Turner of the
home and Mrs. Aldlean Durham
of Norlina; four sons, Johnny
Jones and Nathaniel Jones of
Norlina, Kelsie Jones of
Baltimore, Md. and Douglass
Jones of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; 35
grandchildren; 97 great
grandchildren; 37 great-great
grandchildren; 41 great-great
great grandchildren and 12
great-great-great-great
grandchildren.

ETHEL FELTS STEGALL
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel
Felts Stegall, 72, of Williams
burg, Va., were held Monday in
Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel
by the Rev. Bob Ixjwman. Burial
was in Warren Dale Cemetery in
Norlina.
Mrs. Stegall was a native of
Warren County. She was the
widow of the late John E. Stegall
and the daughter of the late Bur
ton Richard and Patty Young
Felts of Warren County. She died
Saturday, Nov. 8, in a Williams
burg hospital after a brief illness.
Survivors include one sister,
Mrs. Hazel Felts Munn of New
port News, Va. and one foster
sister, Mrs. Ida C. Gumpton of
Newport News, Va.
Pallbearers were Larry Munn,
Richard Munn, Wayne Gregory,
Barry Gregory, Donald Paynter
and Harold Harris.

Dorothy Mary Beddoe Baxter, 95.

Mrs. Baxter died Monday
following a lengthy illness. She
was a native of Springfield, 111.
and the daughter of the late
James B. and Harriet Norton
Beddoe. She was married to the
late Ted Baxter.
Survivors include a son, E. L.
Baxter; and two grandaughters.

He was a native of Mecklen
burg County, Va. and a retired
employee of Thompson Construc
tion Company. He died Thursday
in N. C. Memorial Hospital in
Chapel Hill after a prolonged
illness.

Stew Sale Is Scheduled
The Drewry Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a stew sale
on Saturday, Nov. 15. Stew will be available by 11 a.m. for $3.25 per
quart.
Benefit Dance Is Planned
The Warren County Jaycees will sponsor a dance on Saturday, Nov.
15,8:30 p.m. until 12 midnight at the Warrenton Lion's Den. Proceeds
from the sale of tickets at $5 per couple will go to the Cystic Fibrosis

Revival Services Slated
Revival services will be held at Greenwood Baptist Church Nov.

The Kids for Christ Sunday School Class of Providence Methodist
Church in Afton will sponsor a hotdog and hamburger bar at the
church on Friday, Nov. 14 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. featuring grilled

Senior Citizens To Meet
The Norlina Senior Citizens Club will have their covered dish
luncheon at noon on Thursday, Nov. 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church
in Ridgeway. The date is a change from that of Nov. 25 which was
