News M Society Items Phone 257-3341 Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schoen of Orlando, Fla. are visiting here this week as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Glover. Larry Shearin and Miss Sharon Carper of Charleston, W. Va. spent the weekend with Mrs. Roy Shearin. Mrs. Judy Cheek, Richard Miklos and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Noel of Baltimore, Md. were weekend guests of Mrs. George Davis. Mrs. W. F. Farmer spent several days recently with her son, Bill Farmer, and family in Wendell. Mr. and Mrs. George (Pepi) Perkinson and children, Grant and Anna Stewart, were in Tar boro on Sunday for the christen ing of Vince Bridgers, son of Vin son and Janet Bridgers, at Calvary Episcopal Church. Mr. Perkinson is the child's god father. A luncheon at the home of Mrs. Vinson Bridgers, Sr. fol lowed the service at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Carroll visited Mr. Carroll's parents, Er vin and Vitus Carroll, in Smithfield during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. James Harris, Jr. and daughters have returned from a visit with Mr. and Mrs. James Frazier in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Miss Carolyn Coleman of Lynchburg, Va. spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Coleman. Bill and Joyce Benson were in Raleigh Friday night where they met Billy Benson and his son, W. A. Benson, IV. They attended the Hot Stove League Banquet where W. A. met, talked with and received autographs from Hall of Fame baseball players Ted Williams and Enos Slaughter and All Star players Bobby Richard son and Tommy Byrne. The pro gram was dedicated to Coach Russ Frazier and his Louisburg College baseball team. Lordy, Lordy Look Who's 40! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Judy Cameron Little Garden Club Members Gather At Baptist Church Thirteen members of the Little Garden Club met at the Warren ton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Feb. 10. President Perkinson called the meeting to order and welcomed members and a guest, Mrs. Elea nor Rae Hall. Mrs. Rosa Fleming led mem bers in the devotion on "Love," reading from I Corinthians, chapter 13. President Perkinson thanked the coordinators and hostesses, Mrs. Paulette Curtis, Mrs. Tillie Daeke and Mrs. Rosa Fleming, who served delicious refresh ments and had prepared Valen tine decorations. The minutes were read by the secretary, corrected and ac cepted as corrected. The treasurer's report was ac cepted as submitted. A contribu tion by B B and T for the Library Project was been received. Mrs. Tillie Daeke reported on the progress of the Garden Club sign-painting project. Mrs. Janet Coleman, Glenn Coleman, W. E. Exum and Mrs. Fern Boyd have met at the Library. They have staked the areas to be bricked and planted. UDC Members Told Of Wartime Songs Mrs. Thomas Ellington wel comed members of the Warren County U.D.C. into her home on Wilcox Street in Warrenton for their Feb. 11 meeting. Refreshments of pie, cheese straws and coffee were served. Mrs. Frank B. Newell, vice president, presided and led the U.D.C. ritual. Mrs. R. G. Nor wood and Mrs. Ellington assisted. Members discussed having a spring picnic luncheon and tour of "Prestwould" near Boydton, Va. Mrs. Ron Baker gave a pro gram on some of the popular songs during the War Between the States. Among the songs noted were "I Dream of Jeannie With The Light Brown Hair" and "Listen to the Mocking Bird." The meeting adjourned and goodbys were said to the hostess and her sister, Mrs. Ann Jones. One fresh coconut yields three or four cups of grated coconut. Exum will have his class to prepare a precise estimate of materials as a class project. The business portion of the meeting concluded with the reading of the collect. Members prepared several large and small Valentine ar rangements for the Colonial Lodge, Warren Plaza Nursing Home and the Warren Nursing Center. Mrs. Carroll Ends Franchise Effort Mrs. Minnie Carroll, owner of a Garner-based realty company, has dissolved her association with the Century 21 franchise to reinstate the company's original name. Known again as Carroll Realty, Mrs. Carroll plans to con tinue the same "quality service given to customers since 1971." Realtors are required to renew their contracts with Century 21 every five years. According to Mrs. Carroll, the impact of non renewal has been negligible. "We haven't lost a single listing and the response has been of a positive nature," she said. Mrs. Carroll is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Allen of Warrenton and the daughter-in law of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Carroll. Mary B. Pendleton Philathea Class met Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Jack Groves. Re freshments were served to the 14 members present. Mrs. Groves, president, pre sided. For the devotion, Mrs. E. R. Wood read a selection from "Everyday Religion" by Joseph F. Newton. Following the business session, Miss Edith Allen entertained the group with a slide presentation covering portions of her trips to France, Germany, Italy, Monaco and Switzerland. Mrs. S. 0. Potter closed the meeting with prayer.
