Funeral services for Andrew Samson Kinley, Jr., 65, will be conducted today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Gardner's Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger Gorby. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. He was born Feb. 22, 1922 in Portsmouth, Va. to the late An drew S. and Margaret Bunting Kinley. The retired electrician moved to the Lake Gaston area after years of service at the Nor folk Naval Shipyard. He was married to the late Panthea Stewart Kinley of Warren Coun ty. He died suddenly on March 9 at his residence. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Allen of Hanover, Md., Mrs. Beth Quillen of Whitesburg, Ky. and Mrs. Paula Harris of Goldsboro: one son, Andrew Stewart Kinley of Newport News, Va.; one brother. Dr. James D. Kinley of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Frye of Ports mouth, Va., Mrs. Mae Savage of Chesapeake, Va. and Mrs. Esther Parker, of Portsmouth, Va. and seven grandchildren. Arrangements were by Blaylock Funeral Home. ALFRED DAVIS Funeral services for Alfred Davis, 86, were held Saturday at Coley Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald J. Wess, assisted by the Rev. Quarlie Jackson and the Rev. L. G. Brown. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was born July 17,1900 to the late Ed and Mrs. Rebecca Davis. After transferring his member ship from Greenwood Baptist Church, he became a member of Coley Springs Baptist Church. He died March 4 at his home. Survivors include one daugh ter, Mrs. Eleanor Boyd Coleman of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Davis of Warrenton and Mrs. Mary Plummer of New York, N.Y.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. STEVENS Memorial services for Mrs. Sarah Edna Burton Stevens, 31, of Durham, were held Tuesday at Clements Funeral Home of Dur ham Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery of Littleton. Mrs. Stevens, formerly of War renton, was the daughter of Mrs. Harriett Aronson Burton. She had been a resident of Chapel Hill for 10 years and had lived in Durham for the past year. She was a member of Unity Church and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She died Sunday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. Survivors, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Tom I. Stevens of Durham; two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Ann Burton of Greens boro and Mrs. Olivia Burton Kemp of Henderson; and one brother, Hudson Burton of Louisburg. Bob Lowman and the Rev. Tom Currie. Burial was in Warrendale Cemetery in Norlina. Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Henry and Mrs. Sally Bet Duke Harton. The former Norlina resident died Tuesday, March 3, at Eastern Star Home in Greensboro. Survivors include three daugh ters, Mrs. Miriam M. Martin of Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Marguerite Davis of Raleigh and Mrs. Shir ley Colsen of Isle of Palms, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Ramsey and Mrs. Margaret Ballinger, both of Charlotte; five brothers, W. Burial will be in the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Tilghman, a former Lit tleton resident, was born Aug. 16 1916. She died Friday in Brooklyn, N.Y. CLEVELAND RICHARDSON Funeral services for Cleveland Richardson, 62, of Littleton will be held today (Wednesday) at 12 noon at Hollister Baptist Church by the Rev. J. J. Copeland. Burial will be in the Richardson Family Cemetery. He was born Nov. 11,1924 to the late Ezra and Mary Richardson. He died Saturday at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mamie Richardson of the home; one stepson, Robert Bnnkley; and one sister, Mrs Pattie Jones of Philadelphia, Pa. Arrangements were by Robin son's Funeral Home of Littleton. Tickets On Sale For Fund Raiser By GEORGE W. KOONCE Extension Agent, 4-H Tickets are now on sale for the Annual Warren County 4-H Fund Raising Basketball to be held Fri day. March 27 at 7 p.m. at John Graham Middle School gym nasium. Advance tickets are 11.50 and are available from any 4-H Leader, the Warren County 4-H Office and many businesses and supporters of 4-H throughout the county. Admission at the door will be $2. This major fund rais ing event has enabled almost 400 youth to attend summer residen tial camp free of transportation costs over the past four years. The public is urged to support this outstanding effort by 4-H volunteers. A goal of $900 has been set to pay for the use of two buses, a luggage truck and a passenger car needed to trans port Warren County youth to and from a week of activities at Ser toma 4-H Camp near Westfield scheduled for July 26-31. Those who are not likely to be able to attend the game are urged to support the activity with a $1.50 donation. All who con tribute will be eligible to win door prizes. Warren County ranked sixth in the state in the number of youth attending residential camp in 1986. Recruitment of campers this year is well ahead of schedule with more than 70 youth, who are presently en rolled and have made a financial contribution toward payment of expenses. Two games are scheduled for this year. Girls and boys en rolled in the 4-H program will play the adult women and men volunteers. Anyone wishing to participate in the game as a player, who has not yet enrolled, should call the Warren County 4-H Office at 257-3640. Northern Vaughan Club Has Regular Meeting By TIMOTHY CARTER The Northern Vaughan 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on March 9 at 7 p.m. The meeting was called to order by the president and members recited the 4-H pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance. Ms. Gail Johnson was inducted as a new member of the club. The club is glad to have her as a new member. Members discussed fund raisers for the future and also the 4-H retreat. The meeting was adjourned with the 4-H motto. When freezing temperatures are forecast in Florida, straw berry plants are sprayed with water to encase them in ice, which releases heat as it forms and allows them to survive while air temperature falls lower, says National Geographic. Warren County High School Health Occupations students are "dressed out" for their assignment for clinical internships which were begun recently. (Community Schools Photo by Mary Hunter) Glenn Woolard Is Guest Speaker By CESSEL SEWARD The guest speaker for the March meeting of the 3-Point 4-H Club was Glenn Woolard, exten sion agent, 4-H. Mr. Woolard talked to the club concerning the District 4-H Retreat to be held at Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Center near Reidsville on March 20-22. Selling doughnuts to earn money for the retreat was discussed. A pay ment of $10 was due before March 6. Pamela Ayscue gave a demonstrration on exercise and body cleanliness. It was em phasized that in order for any ex ercises to be effective one must do them on a regular schedule. We also need to perform daily hygiene. Robert Foster gave a demonstration on bird houses. Some of the houses Robert had made were shown to the members; he also gave instruc tions and showed the tools used for the construction of the bird houses. The meeting was called to order by the president, Pamela Ayscue. The Lord's Prayer, 4-H pledge and Pledge of Allegiance were repeated together. "Jacob's Ladder" was sung by the members attending.
