Registration Is Scheduled
Registration for all children in Warren County eligible to enter
kindergarten in September will be held at the elementary locations
listed below on days and time indicated. Registration is open to every
child who is five years old on or before Oct. 16, 1987. The schedule
is as follows: South Warren, April 27,9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Mariam Boyd,
April 28, beginning at 9 a.m. (please call 257-3695 in advance for an
appointment); Northside, April 29, 3-6:30 p.m., last names beginn
ing with A-H, and April 30, 3-6:30 p.m., last names beginning with
I-Z; Vaughan, May 1, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Parents or guardians are re
quested to take the child along with his birth certificate and im
munization record to registration.
Communion Is Planned
Communion at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd is scheduled for
Sunday, April 26, at 9 a.m.
Cooperative Ministries To Meet
The North Warren Cooperative Ministries will meet on Tuesday,
April 28, at Ridgeway Baptist Church. All members are urged to be
present and all visitors are welcomed.
Club Meeting Is Slated
The Norlina Senior Social Club will hold the April meeting with the
Norlina Baptist group in their social room on April 23 at 2 p.m. All
members are urged to be present and to bring a friend or a prospec
tive new member.
Annual Bazaar Is Scheduled
The Educational Council of the Memorial Forest is having its An
nual May Day Bazaar on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m; until 8 p.m.
at the Old Heck's Grove School located on U.S. 401, near the Vicksboro
Road. There will be brunswick stew for sale, along with hot dogs, ham
burgers, yard sale items, nearly-new clothing, games and prizes.

Evangelist To Speak Sunday
On Sunday, April 26, at 11:30 a.m., James W. Smith, evangelist,
will deliver the sermon at The First Baptist Church of Soul City. Ser
vices are held at the Soul City Fire House. All are invited to attend.
Missionaries Plan To Convene
District VII-Group II of the Woman's Baptist Home and Foreign
Missionary Convention of North Carolina will convene at the Coley
Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m. The Rev.
Donald J. Wess is pastor. All missionaries are invited to attend.
Chorus Anniversary Slated
The Cook's Chapel Gospel Chorus of Warren Plains will observe
its 21st anniversary on Sunday, April 26, at 5 p.m. The Rev. W. L.
Barnes, pastor, and members of the congregation invite you to come
and worship. Many fine groups will be appearing.
Chicken Supper Is Planned
A Bar-B-Que Chicken Supper will be served Saturday, April 25, from
5-8 p.m. at the Norlina Woman's Club. Dinners of chicken, boiled
potatoes, string beans, bread and drink will be $3.50 each. The event
is sponsored by Francis F. Packard Lodge No. 630.
Ladies Auxiliary Sponsors Drive
The Hawtree Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring an
Eyeglass Drive for the White Cane Society. The drop point is Rig

Annual Program Is Announced
The Pastor's Aide Club of Pleasant Zion Baptist Church will have
its annual program on Sunday, April 26, at 6 p.m. The Rev. Sterling
Cheston of Wise will be the guest speaker and music will be provided
by one of his choirs. The Rev. Lynne J. Bradley, pastor, invites the
public to attend.
Musical Performances Anticipated
The Franklinton Lions Club will hold their annual musical jamboree
on Saturday, April 25, from 7-10 p.m. at the Franklinton High School
auditorium. Musical acts will include performances by country
western bands, blue grass groups, old-time fiddlers, piano and vocal
soloists and the symphony from Kerr Lake Ensemble. Admission is
$3 for adults and $1.50 for children and students. Additional informa

Support Group To Have Meeting
The Warren County Arthritis Support Group will meet on Tuesday,
April 28, at 2 p.m. at the Warren County Senior Citizens Center. The
meeting is open to the general public. The topic for discussion this

Tour Of Washington Planned
The Best Better 4-H Club is planning a one-day tour of Washington,
D.C. on Saturday, April 25. The bus will leave the Warren County
Agricultural Building at 6 a.m. and return at 9 p.m. Places to be
toured are Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, the
Washington and Jefferson Monuments, the Smithsonian Institute the

Reading Carnival Is Scheduled
You are invited to attend The Chapter I Reading Carnival on Thurs
day, April 23, at the Hawkins School Gym, from 7-8 p.m. Fun and
games will be available for parents and children. Come help your
child's class to win a special prize. There will be refreshments and
door prizes?everything is free. The event is sponsored by the War
ren County Schools ECIA, Chapter I Reading Program. For more In

Mamie Richardson, assistant vice president of Peoples Bank and
Trust Company, Norlina Branch, presents on behalf of the employees
a plaque to Roy Pat Robertson during a reception at the bank on Fri
day, April 10. The plaque was presented in appreciation to Robert
son for "his five years as manager and friend." His resignation from
Peoples Bank was effective on Friday.
Spring Revival Plans Listed
The St. Paul Baptist Church of the Bethlehem community will
observe Spring Revival, April 22-24, beginning nightly at 7:30 p.m.
Planned speakers for the week are: the Rev. J. J. Copeland (Wednes
day); the Rev. Thomas Richardson (Thursday) and the Rev. W. C.
Tabron i Friday). Each minister will be accompanied by his church
choir. The Rev. W. C. Evans, pastor, and the St. Paul family invite
the public to come fellowship with them.
Baptist Revival Services Set
The Walnut Grove Baptist Church will hold a spring revival April
27-May 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Steve Jones of Pembroke will be the
guest evangelist. Pastor Tecumseh Brayboy invites all to attend.
Choir Rehearsal Postponed
The rehearsal meeting of the Emmanuel Episcopal Chancel Choir
will not be held on Thursday, April 23. All members are asked to
report promptly at 7:30 p.m. to the Parish Hall on next Thursday,
April 30.
For Avon Representative Ms. Alyce Bernice Young of Norlina, sales
success has paid off. This month, as a result of her outstanding sales
achievement, she has won an all-expense-paid five-day steamboat
cruise on the famed Mississippi Queen. The trip included live enter

Olympics, according to an an
nouncement made recently by
the teachers for the Warren
County Schools' Exceptional
Programs.
The 11th Annual Special Olym
pics for handicapped persons,
sponsored by The Warren Coun
ty Exceptional Program, will be
held Friday, April 24. The open
ing ceremonies will begin at 9
a.m. at the lion's Den in Warren
ton. The rain date is May 1.
There will be lots of excite
ment, fun and food, as well as a
special personality there to shake
hands with, the announcement
said.
