Christmas Eve Service Slated
Zion United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve can
dlelight service beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. The ser
vice will consist of familiar scripture readings, the singing of Christ
mas carols, and will close with the candlelighting. The lane to Zion
will also be lighted with luminarias. Zion's pastor, the Rev. Tim
Russell, invites the public to attend.
Decoration Contest Plans Listed
The Town 'N Country Garden Gub will sponsor its annual
Christmas Decorations Contest, awarding prizes in two categories:
(1) best outside decorations and (2) best inside decorations? as seen
from the outside. Areas included in the judging will be Warrenton,
as well as other locations immediately surrounding the town. All con
test participants should have their lights on and decorations on display
Thursday, Dec. 22, between 7-9 a.m.
Community Service Scheduled
The combined congregations of Wesley Memorial United Methodist
Church and Emmanuel Episcopal Church will celebrate Christmas
in a community service on Sunday, Dec. 25, at 11 a.m. Special music
will be provided by the combined choirs of both churches and will
include an original anthem, "At Christmastide," composed by Ms.
Thurletta M. Brown. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Hebron Service Set For Friday
Hebron United Methodist Church will have its annual Christmas
Candlelight Service on Friday evening, Dec. 23, at 7:30 p.m. The
public is invited to attend.
Silent Communion Is Planned
Warren Plains United Methodist Church will have silent commu
nion Saturday night, Dec. 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Yule Service Set At Macon
Macon United Methodist Church will hold Sunday morning worship
service on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. The public is invited.
Service Slated At Soul City
Christmas morning, Dec. 25, the Rev. James Smith, pastor of First
Baptist Church at Soul City will have Christmas Service at 11 :30 a.m.
Music will be rendered by the Kittrell Baptist Church Choir? all are
invited.
Service Of Carols Is Planned
A Christmas Carol Service will be held at Spring Green Baptist
Church on Sunday, Dec. 25, at 11 : 15 a.m. The Junior & Senior Choirs,
along with the Spring Green Gospeletts, will render music for the ser
vice. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Live Nativity To Be Presenteed
Members of the Warrenton Baptist Church will present a live
nativity on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week from 7-8
p.m. Carols will be played from the steeple during this time, and the
sanctuary will be open for those wishing to view the Chrismon Tree.
Choir Rehearsal Is Scheduled
Rehearsal for choristers singing in the Emmanuel Episcopal
Church Christmas Eve service and the Wesley Memorial United
Methodist Church Christmas Day service will be held today (Wednes
day) at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Wesley Memorial. Final rehear
sal for the Emmanuel Christinas Eve service will be held on Satur
day, Dec. 24, at 9:45 p.m. at Emmanuel. All participants are asked
to bring their own choir robes on both performance nights and to
arrive for all rehearsals on time and in good voice.

enjoyed making toy dogs for Christmas gifts. Using adult- and
children-sized coat hangers and knitting yarn, dogs were made in two

Christmas luncheon on Dec. 14 at
the Norlina Landmark, with Mrs.
Melanie Brantley of Spring Hope,
District 6 chapter director, as its
special guest.

makers Club enjoyed a Christ
mas party on Tuesday, Dec. 13
at the home of Frieda Holtz
mann. Sixteen members and
guests attended.
Carols were sung, games
played and gifts exchanged.
Each person told something
about Christmas Past or recited
a poem about Christmas.
The hostess invited the group
into the dining room for punch
and other Christmas goodies.
The club will meet with Mary
Hecht on Jan. 19 at 12 noon for a
luncheon.
