Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Leete, of Macon, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Lisa Anne Leete, to Monty M. McCar ty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. McCarty of Goldsboro. A May wedding has been planned. Miss Leete is a graduate of North Carolina State University and is a loan officer at Tar Heel Farm Credit Service in Smithfield. The prospective groom is a graduate of East Carolina University and is a computer graphics artist at Northern Telecom in Raleigh. Mrs. Anna Fuller of Afton visited Mrs. Mamie Weaver on Sunday afternoon. Lutheran League Has Gathering The Lutheran Women's Mis sionary League of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ridgeway met Thursday, Feb. 9 for the regularly-scheduled monthly meeting. Mrs. Jane Rishel, president, called the meeting to order and presented the pastor of St. Paul's, Rev. Douglas Rathjen, to the group. The Rev. Mr. Rathjen led the group in a study of "The THEREFORE Woman," a series of lessons looking into the various roles of contemporary women in different seasons of their lives. Tentative plans were discussed regarding the annual Spring Buf fet Supper to be held April 23, 5-7 p.m., with Mrs. Tillie Daeke, chairperson. After repeating the club's pledge and reciting the Lord's prayer, the meeting was ad journed. The group then enjoyed a social hour with Mrs. Lillian B. Kilian, hostess. The next meeting will be held March 9 at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. Sandy Rathjen, hostess. Learn New Craft, Improve Your Skills By MARGARET W. BULLOCK Home Economics Agent Agricultural Extension Service If you want to learn a new craft or improve your skills in one you already enjoy, make plans to enroll in the North Central District Heritage Craft Leaders' Workshop. The workshop will bring to gether skilled volunteer leaders from an eleven-county area to teach quality crafts. The event will be held in Smithfield at the Johnston County Agricultural Center on Tuesday and Wednes day, April 18-19, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day. Craft classes offered will in clude: Armenian needle lace making, china painting, folk art painting, hammock construction, lap quilting, stained glass, sea grass stool bottom construction, corn shuck wreath-making, bas ketry and bullwhip. Registration is required and there will be a fee of $5, plus the cost of class supplier. The classes are filling rapidly! King Is Speaker Warren County Agricultural Extension Director Russell King was the speaker at the Macon Women's Club meeting Monday night, held in the home of Anna Popson. King spoke to the group about water in Warren County* In other business, it was noted that six members signed up to go to the art show which will be held at the First Baptist Church of Henderson. King also drew the name of Tracy King, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Riggan, as the winner of a Swedish embroidery afghan. Money raised from the raffle will be placed in the club's treasury. After the meeting was adjourned, hostesses Christine Shaw and Grace Young served refresh ments. The Henderson/Warrenton field office received an outstanding service award at the Soil Conser vation Service's annual award ceremony held at the N.C. State Faculty Club in Raleigh on Jan. 27.
