It is announced in a special t.ViA (Charlotte Observer that Sam Newland was killed in a railroad wreck, up in Washington State last week. Newland is the man who killed Steelman at Lenoir sometime ago. Expecting Revenue Repeal. - Some of the fellows in this county who voted the republi can ticket are expecting Mc Kinley to repeal the tax on whiskey and brand'. The re publican leaders, these fellows say, promised that this j should be done as soon as Mckinley is inaugurated President, and they believe it. "What fools these mortals be!" -I Married, W. J. Kinyoun and Miss Meta Foster, daughter of Achilles Foster, of Dellaplane, were married Monday night. Rev. W. R. Bradshaw per formed the ceremony. License was issued Tues day for the marriage of Daniel I Hunnycut, age 60 years, to Delia Johnson, IS years old, both of New Castle township.
