PEARCWS PICNIC PARTY Wednesday night, August 12, 1925, a few girls and boys planned to have a picnic tit a neighbor’s home in the neighborhood. It is said that invitations had been sent out and everything was in readi ness for the large gathering that the hostess expected to be on hand. It was stated that two young ladies wanted to do their part, and secured a “ridicule” which they filled with chickens, and on their way to the party, when they decided to stop at a cross-roads store and partake of cream. While at tlie store a certain young man wanted to have some fun, and he misplaced the “ridicule” of chickens. After enjoying the cream, the young ladies went in search of “ridicule”, but they could not the hiding place of the satchel full of chickens, hut coon a crowd assembled and the “ridicule” was located. While on their way to the party from the store the young ladies were overtaken by a severe storm. They stopped in at a neighbor’s home where they found shelter during the storm. However, when they arrived at the party they were about one and one-half hours late. There were many invitations sent out to both young ladies and gentle men, and disappointments were noticed by some young ladies not be ing present, as they did not take ad vantage of invitations. Some of the young men were also disappointed because of the fact that the young ladies were not present. However, the pleasure all had at the party was enough to counteract all the disappointments. The entire crowd was a jolly one, and hope soon to repeat the occasion. Chicken stew and Brunswick stew a plenty for all and some to spare. THE WIGGS WAREHOUSE Zebulon, N, ('.
