Oxford, July 31.—The grand jury
of Granville County brought in a
}true bill against the thirteen direc
. tors of the Planters Bank and Trust
Company of Creedmoor, late Thurs
| day afternoon. Ever since the fail
ure of this bank about eighteen
months ago, there has been a wrangle
as to what became of the funds
Now, there is probably a start to
settle, it even though it may not
be heard until the November term
of criminal court for Granville Coun
ty.
SANFORD JUNIORS MAKING
PREPARATION TO ENTERTAIN
Sanford, August 3.—Sanford Juniors
are making preparations for enter
taining one of the biggest and best
meetings of the State Council, Junior
Order United American Mechanics
held in several years. On Tuesday,
August 17, Juniors from all sections
of the Old North State, from the
mountains to the seashore, and from
the Virginia to the South Carolina
line, will turn their faces towards
the Lee county convention town. Prac
| tically every city and tow n in the
i state will be represented, for in prac
, tically every village and hamlet of
the state a council of the order is
established. More than 400 men, all ;
past councilors, are expected to at-1
tend.
A committee, headed by O. P. Make
peace, one of the order’s most loyal
and active members, and made up of j
J. W. Stout, E. L. Gavin, and K. E. j
Seymour, also active Juniors, is at j
work making out their plans for en- I
tertaining the convention. While the!
entertainment is as yet in the chrys
alis stage, they are far enough com-1
pleted to indicate an excellent time .
