UNION HOPE Mr. W. A. Johnson of Taylor’s Cross Roads visited his sister, Mrs. O. N. Bryant. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Brantley of Lewis’ school house visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Brantley Sunday, Mr. Willie A. Brantley of the Pilot section was visiting relatives in this r-ection Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Aionza Dean are spendng some time at the home of her father, Mr. T. L. Massey. Little Edna Mae Brantley is il! this week. A few of our people attended ts baptizing at Samaria Sunday. There were 28 baptized. The people in this section have hid a fine time saving their fodder and there is being a lot of it saved. 1 A birthday party was given at T * L. Massey’s on Friday, August 2fith. j in honor of Loyd Massey’s birthday. He was 19 years old. A good many of our people are attending the re/ival at Rocky Cross this week. Owing to the late crop there will' not be much tobacco from our sectiom on the opening market. A number, of people have just started curing I while a few have nearly finished up. j The estimation for the crop in this i community is about one-half although j the quality and color is fair. The cotton crop is better than it has i been in years. In some places it looks | now like it will make almost a bale S to the acre. I believe the people in this section I are planning more to live at home than j they have in several years. Nearly everybody has plenty of peas and sweet potatoes, and a lot of them are raising their own meat. The cane crop is also very good I and looks like it will be from 15 to! 20 days earlier than it was last year. After all we have a lot to be thank- j ful for. A good many people are plan ning to have a wheat patch and try to make their flour at home. No doubt if this community had been living for the last 5 years like they have for the past 12 months the majority of the people would have almost been inde- I pendent. So come on and let’s live at | j home and make times better for us. '♦ ♦ I ♦ \J ♦ ♦ The J. &M. Chevrolet Co. ♦ ! ZEBULON, N. C. ♦ ♦ | Says Three Things ♦ 11. The crop grown from northern seed, however, matures from two to three weeks earlier than that grown from native ! seed planted at the same time. The ! difference in time in getting to mar ket and the resulting price difference iis favorable to the northern grown seed.
