The ordinance of baptism was administered by Rev. Theo. B. Davis on Sunday night, as Pastor Herring is not yet thought by his physicians to be strong enough to officiate. Mrs. M. T. Debman will have charge of the lesson at the meet ing of the Northside Circle of the Baptist W. M. S. next Monday P. M. Mrs. W. O. Glover will be hostess. The Central Circle of the Baptist W. M. S. will meet on next Mon day P. M. with Mrs. E. C. Daniel. Mrs. F. E. Bunn will direct the study for the day. The general meeting of the Bap tist W. M. S. was held on last' Mon day P- M. at the church. The pro gram was given by the Central Circle. Mrs. A. S. Hinton led the devotional. “Footsteps of Mission aries” in different countries were traced by Mesdames Avon Privett. Willard White and F. E. Bunn. Mrs. Herring presided over the business meeting. Mrs. E. C. Dan iel treasurer reporttd an increase in gifts during the past quarter. Corinth News Our pastor, Rev. W. D. Stancil, gave us a good message Saturday and Sunday. We had a large crowd present but we want more to come. The revival at Corinth will be gin Sunday Sept. 9, and will run through the following week. Rev. C. H. Norris of Wake Forest will assist the pastor during the meet ing. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Boykins and little daughter, Barbara Nell, of near Whitley's Cross Roads, Mr. A. A. Davis and family of Salem and Mr. Wesley Boykin of Wilson were Sunday visitors of Mr. Jas. Davis. Mr. Wesley Boykin is go ing to remain in the community for some time with relatives and friends. Those on the sick list in our community this week are Mrs. Costa Hocutt. Mrs. Joyce Wheeler, and Mrs. P. F. Hardy. We hope they will soon be well. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Renfrou of Buckhom were Sunday visitors of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Layton. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse High gave a chicken fry Saturday night to the ones who helped them barn tobac co. Those enjoying the occasion other than Mr. High’s family were Mrs. Melvia Johnson and family. Mr. D. Cope and family, Misses Sarah Alford, and Maude Wilder. Wason Alford, Elton Bunch and Mr. Bill Layton. Pleasant Hill Mr. C. A. Amerson and family of Wilson spent Sunday at Mr. Char lie Hawkins’. Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Whitaker spent Sunday at J. B. Carter’s. Miss Helen Medlin spent the week end with Miss Louise Baker. We are sorry to report Herbert Jay is sick. Dewamer Whitaker of N. J. spent several days last week with Mrs. E. W. Hood, his grandmother. John Ray Faison of Mt. Berry College and Q. C. Marshburn of Durham and Misses Louise Baker and Helen Medlin and Cecil Carter of Fairbluff were visitors at Miss Nellie Hawkins’ Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Frazier and little son Kenneth, and Dewamer, returned to N. J. Sunday after spending three weeks here. Miss Nellie Hawkins is spending a few days at Wilson this week. Miss Inez Parkham is spending the summer with Miss Estelle Gay. Miss Lena Boaz spent last week with Miss Janie Pease Faison. Mrs. Sam Lamm is spending this week with Mrs. Charlie Hawkins. T. Y. Puryear lost a barn and tobacco Saturday afternoon by fire. Miss Louise Overton of Raleigh is spending some time with Miss Inez Curran.
