NEXT SUNDAY’S LESSON
In the lesson for next Sunday note carefully
that rewards are based on faithful service, not
on the number of talents given. Note, too, that
the master took from the unfaithful steward,
not for himself, but to give to the faithful.
We should also bear in mind the fact that
faithfulness makes possible three givings—the
master’s to the servant; that servant’s to the
master; the second gift from the master.
And let us nver forget that Christ is not only
Lord of His stewards, but is an example for
them, having been obedient to the end of His
earthly life.
Can a man be a Christian and refuse to ac
knowledge the responsibility of stewardship?
VIRGINIA AND VIRGINIANS
Many in other states are fond of poking fun
at Virginia and of asserting that her great men
men are underground; but once more the

THE ZEBULON RECORD, ZEBULON, NORTH CA ROLINA, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER TWENTY-TH1RD,1934
of her sons. When a negro man this week
murdered two little girls near Clifton Forge and
threw their mutilated bodies into a ditch he was
arrested and taken for safe keeping to another
county and then to Richmond to await trial by
law. Officers were determined that no crime of
lynching should be perpetrated by those too
much aroused for self-control. Os course there
is no doubt as to the verdict following the trial;
nor can thre be doubt that these officers in our
sister state hold sacred their oaths to support
the law.
WHY AND HOW?
We confess our inability to understand how it
can be that so many thousands are being given
and have been given employment through relief
funds while at the same time the statement is
made that aid for the unemployed will probably
reach new high levels this winter. Seems as
though these two facts should somehow cancel
each other.
NEW FEATURES
We are glad to be able to offer you this week
two special features, which we hope you may
enjoy regularly for weeks. One is our long
promised serial, selected by the editor and not
by an assistant. The other is the Wakelon
School News, which is, or should be, of prime
importance to all of us regardless of whether
we have children there. We have wanted ever
since taking over the Record to have school
news sent in regularly, but it has not before
seemed possible to arrange for it.
With Miss Preslar of the English department
of the high school in charge and with the co
operation of teachers in the grades we feel safe
in saying that the school columns will carry
each week items of much interest to our read
ers. If you like it, let us know.
