Dr. G. S. Barbee is attending the
medical convention at Pinehurst
this week. He is a vice-president
of the organization.
Miss Coressa Eberhart of the
Knightdale School faculty visited
Mrs. M. B. Chamblee this week.
The editor and Mrs. Davis ap
preciate an announcement of the
arrival of a daughter, Mary Jo, in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R.
Buchanan of Wendell. Mrs. Buchan
an was formerly Miss Grace Graves
and lived in Zebulon when a child.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Horton went
to Chapel Hill Sunday after the
morning church service. One rea
son for the trip was to take a
strawberry shortcake to their son,
Bobby, who is a student at the Uni
versity. Strawberry shortcakes
will not bear mailing.
Mrs. M. T. Debnam’s mother,
Mrs. Mitchell, visited her during
commencement.
Mrs. Milton Brannan was confin
ed to her bed by illness during the
first part of the week but is im
proving at present.
Miss Grace Coltrane was piano
accompanist at a concert presented
at Orell Memorial auditorium ir.
Greensboro on Thursday night of
this week by the college orchestra.
Miss Edwards of Hookerton was
the guest of Mrs. L. M. Massey
the latter part of last week.
Miss Elizabeth Buffaloe of Wake
lon’s faculty directed a number of
her pupils in presenting “Midsum
mer Night’s Dream” before the P.
T. A. of the Wiley School in Ral
eigh yesterday.
Mrs. Ida Hunt Hall was home
for the week-end. She was accom
panied by a friend, Miss Caudle,
of the faculty of the school at S°v
en Springs.
Mrs. Ronie Narron of Smithfield
is spending this week with her hus
band’s mother, Mrs. Ivy Narron,
and sister Mrs. Kermit Corbett.
Miss Ruby Stell began on Mon
day a kindergarten class which will
last five weeks. A party for the
small members of the class was
held on the opening day.
Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Long and lit
tle daughter, Mary Sue, are visit
ing relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. William Cheeves
visited Mr. Cheeves’ mother near
Louisburg last Sunday.
Miss Irene Pitts spent the week
end in the home of her uncle, W.
N. Pitts, returning to her home at
Eafield on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kemp of
Pittsburg, Pa., spent the week-end
here with Mr. Kemp’s mother, Mrs.
Carrie Kemp.
Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Lee have
moved to Kinston to make their
home. Their furniture was carried
fom Zebulon on Monday of this
week.

An electric wire in the Kader
Brannon home on Tuesday evening
started a blaze that might have
been serious had it not been dis
covered at once. Fortunately very
little damage was done.
Wallace White, now a student at
A. C. C., was a “gentleman of the
court” in the May Day Festival at
the College last week.
Mrs. V. J. Brown, of Buckhead.
Ga., who has been visiting in the
home of her brother' Theo. B. Da
vis, left on Thursday for Waynes
ville to visit another brother, C. S.
Davis.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jeffreys were
here to visit their daughters, Mes
dames S. A. Horton and Earl Hor
ton, and to see their granddaugh
ter, Miss Dorothy Horton, receive
her high school diploma.
The A. V. Medlins have returned
to their home here after having
spent some weeks at Hot Springs-,
Ark., for the benefit of Mr. Med
lin’s health.
Mrs. J. C. Wilson with small
Roy Brickhouse left Monday for
South Carolina, where she will vis
it for a few days before going on
to Georgia for the summer.

Mrs. C. E. Flowers was hostess to
the Wednesday Afternoon Club this
week.
Mrs. Fred Page was hostess at
dinner on Tuesday evening. Guests
were Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Campen,
Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Moser, Dr. and
Mrs. C. E. Flowers, Mrs. Jessie Mi
zelle and Miss Cabell Campen.
On Thursday afternoon of last
week Mrs. C. G. Weathersby enter
tained the teachers from Wakelon
Dormitory and Mesdames Fred
Page, W. C. Campen and G. S.
Barbee.
News has been received here of
the death on Tuesday night at his
home in Lewiston of Leslie Hum
phrey. Mr. Humphrey spent a part
of his childhood in Zebulon, being
the third son of M. B. Humphrey
and the late Mrs. Humphrey. He
was popular here and his death
is deeply regretted. The cause was
double pneumonia.
Mrs. C. A. Flowers has gone for
a two-weeks visit to relatives in
Henderson.
Mrs. Wallace Temple spent the
week-end at her former home near
Lewiston.
