Little Miss Myrtese Hagwood is visiting her grandmother at Rocky Cross this week. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gill and baby son, Bobby, spent Saturday visiting in Selma. W. A. Goodsen of Winston-Salem was in Zebulon Monday to see his sister, Mrs. C. L. Read. Revs. A. A. Pippin and Theo. Davis attended Campbell College Commencement on Wednesday. Frederick Hoyle, this year’s grad uate at Louisburg College, has re turned to his home at Wakefield. Miss Mildred Winstead of Ran somville is here visiting her sister, Mrs. Irby Gill, and friends in town. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Horton of of Goldsboro spent Sunday here with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Screws. The Kindergarten taught by Miss Ruby Stell has been closed because of the infantile paralysis situation. Mrs. Wallace Temple attended commencement at Meredith on Sat urday of last week and Monday of this week. A. C. Dawson and Mrs. L. M. Massey went to Wilson Tuesday to attend comemcnement at Atlantic Christian College. ■ 1 1— Mr. and Mrs. Banks Satterfield of Millon spent Monday and Mon- ! day night in Zebulon, guests in the Wallace Temple home. Miss Margaret Howard who taught at Newton during the school term, has returned to her home at the Methodist parsonage. Miss Annie Dizor or Durham was here Sunday to see her mother, Mrs. D. M. Dizor who is recover ing from a recent illness. The editor and Mrs. Davis with the Ted Davises and Barrie Davis attended the home-coming service at Chalybeate Springs Sunday. Misses Sadie Blount and Jocelyn House, junior and sopho-, more in next year’s classes at Mere dith college are home for vacation. Mr. and Mrs. James Scarborough of near Raleigh announce the birth of a son, James, Jr. Mr. Scarbo rough worked in Zebulon for some time. ■■ Mrs. C. V. After spending nearly two weeks at Duke Hospital for treatment W. L. Wiggs returned on Thursday to her home here. Her 1 condition is thought to be bettor. Miss Dorothy Lucile Baker, daughter of H. K. Baker of Zebu lon R 3 was among the number re ceiving the A. B. degree at Mere dith college Monday of this week. Chas. H. Rhodes is opening his , new beauty parlor tomorrow at 9 o’clock. Mahlon Temple has suffered con ! siderbly for more than a week from the effects of a fall from the roof of his house. He hurt both arms and has not been ablet o use them since. Mrs. R.H . Herring, Rev. C. L. Read, Rev. A. A. Pippin and Rev. Theo Davis went to Wake Forest Tuesday to hear Ambassador Dan iesl deliver the address to the grad uating class o fthe college. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Johnson vis ited Mrs. Johnson’s parents, the Pittman Stell’s a few days last week, bringing their daughter, Lou ise who has remained for a longer stay with her relatives. The editor acknowledges with pleasure an invitation to attend the exercises of commencement week at Duke University. The program begins on Saturday, June 1, and ends with the flag lowering on Mon day evening. Mrs. Jane E. Hagwood who cele brates her 70th birthday June 15, is cutting her third tooth since she was 62. Mrs. Hagwood says that by the time she grows out of her second childhood she’ll have a com plete new set. A. C. Dawson, Jr., has returned home from A. C. C., where he has been a student for the past two years. A. C. was a ' three letter’ man in athletics this year as last year, and also won the loving cup as tennis champion for the second year. ' B. B. Chamblee, his wife and son, Horace of Asheville Mr. and Mrs. John Terry and son of Burlington, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lee and children of Smithfield, have returned to [their homes after spending a few days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Chamblee. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Workman and daughter, little Dorcas Ann, of Raleigh were Sunday afternoon guests of Mrs. Workman’s parents. ’Mr. and Mrs. R. I. Hagwood. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Doyle were also Sun day guest of the Hagwoods, Mrs. Doyle being their daughter also. Miss Wilma Phillips, sister of Rondall Phillips, local groceryman, was given a medal on commence ment day at Campbell College for being the best allround student among the girls in the college.
