Pippin of Wakefield, Rev. and Mrs. R. H. Herring, Rev. and Mrs. C. L. Read, Rev. and Mrs. Theo. Davis of Zebulon, and Mrs. Hettie Dean Powell of Wen dell. It was an occas'on of ! are pleasure to those partaking of the gracious hospitality of :h.s home. Mrs. Samuel Perry of Boston. Mass., with her mother and daugh ter Eileen, were guest? for one w’eek of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Up church of Louisburg. During their visit they all journ eyed to White Lake of Bladen county and were shown she beauty places of our state. Mr. Pum Alford of Wendell was a business visitor in town Monday Master Henry Massey if Rock 1 Mount visited his uncle Mr. P. F Massey this week-end. Miss Elaine Strickland is in Rex Hospital where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. He condition is said to be fair'y satis factory. Ferguson to see her mother and sister, Mrs. Helen Whitley and Miss Pauline Whitley of Siler City, now visiting Mrs. Ferguson. Mrs. B. H. Johnson and daughte, Louise of Lumberton are visitin Mrs. Johnson’s parents, the Pitt man Stells, and other relative:- here. Allan, the youngest son of Mr. end Mrs. Earley Green at Wuke feild, is just through taking the Pasteur treatment made necessary by the bite of a cat suffering from rabies. Misses Nellie Pearl Bryant and Msrgaret Liles are spending theii v cations in Norfolk and Oceat View this week. Miss Virginia Lancaster of Port Tampa City, Florida, is visiting it the home of C. E. Parker thi week. John E. Cockrell who has form erly been employed in Elkton, Md., has returned home and is now op erating a grocery business in the building formerly occupied by Steadman Stores Co. Sam Perry and Mrs. Hobbs of Randolph, Mass., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hocutt and young son visited relatives near Elm City Sunday. Mr. John Bailey of Elm City visited his daughter, Mrs. S. G. Flowers, and her family Sunday. W. C. Stroud has been elected principal of the Liuisburg High School . Mr. Stroud has many friends in this section, having mar ried Miss Rochelle Pippin, daugh ter of Rev. A. A. Pippin. * Rev. E. R. Ella Anderson )ies At Eagle Rock * Mrs. Laura Ella Hood Anderson, 2 died at her home at Eagle Rock t 5 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Anderson was the only urviving member of the family of v’illiam H. Hood and Mary a Wig ins Hood. Her father was a lead r in his native county of Wake. Mrs. Anderson was the widow of amuel P. Anderson of Eagle Rock /ith the exception of six years of er early married life she lived mtinuously in the home in which le w'as born. The room in which le died was the room in which le was born and had been her bed jom for 55 years. Surviving Mrs. Anderson are six of her eight children, four sons, S. T. Anderson, of Rocky Mount, A. V. Anderson, of Raleigh, J. L. and C. I. Anderson of Eagle Rock, and two daughters, Misses Lillie M. and Lila B. Anderson of the home. Funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday after noon, with Rev A. A. Pippin of Wakefiel and Rev. Theo. B. Davis of Zebulon conducting the services. Both are former pastors of Mrs. Anderson. Dr. J. W. Kincheloe of Rocky Mount, also had a part in the service. Hales Chapel We had splendid crowds at Church Saturday and Sunday. We are all thankful for the few showers we received to improve our crops. Os course we must work now or grass will get the best of us. Mrs. Judson Braswell is still on our sick list but we are glad to know that she is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Perry are he proud parents of a boy, horn July 13.
